Howard H. Clark
YAKIMA – We lost one of the good guys.
Howard H. Clark, 88, passed away at home surrounded by his family April 21, 2006. He was born in Kansas and considered himself “ A Jay Hawker” but once he saw the Yakima Valley he wouldn’t live any place else.
He made friends through work, golf, the YMCA, Masonry, and Barbershop singing, but mostly by being a generous and helpful neighbor.
He is survived by Mary (Toulouse), his wife of 65 years; daughter, Judy (George) Fraker; son, Dale (Rebecca) Clark; brother, Leonard (Barbara) Clark; sister, Beatrice Nicklin of Kansas; grandsons, Todd (Tanya), Brad, Jim and Paul Fraker; three great-grandchildren, Leanne, Kurt and Bret; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, no services will be held. Memorials may be made to Memorial Foundation, Hospice or a charity of choice.
An open house will be held at Chalet Village Clubhouse, Saturday, April 29th from 2 till 4 p.m. His sweet spirit touched many and will be missed. Valley Hills Funeral Home & Crematory, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements.
Warren Derrickson
Warren E. Derrickson, 74, of Union Gap died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at home.
Mr. Derrickson was born in Polson, Mont., and served in the Air Force. He lived in Union Gap since 1978.
Survivors include a brother, Dallas Derrickson of Blanchard, Idaho.
At his request, there will be no services.

Chester L. Hornbuckle
Chester L. Hornbuckle, 71, of Yakima died Thursday, April 20, 2006.
Mr. Hornbuckle was born in Buena. He lived in the Yakima Valley most of his life. He served in the Navy.
Survivors include two sons, Bert Oswalt and Chester Whittum; three daughters, Shirley Ashby, Kathy Hulen and Susan Whittum; a brother, Curtis Hornbuckle; a sister, Mary James; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zillah Cemetery. Cremation will be earlier at Valley Hills Crematory, Yakima.

Bernice F. Sterrett
SUNNYSIDE - Long time Sunnyside resident Bernice (Bea) F. Sterrett passed away peacefully Thursday, April 20, 2006 at home with her husband and family at her bedside.
Bea was born in Wheatland, WY, October 31, 1915 and came to the Yakima Valley in 1936.
Bea's primary joy in life came from her family and she was always there for loved ones. She was the consummate Flower gardener, loved every stray animal in need for food or drink and took great joy in the simple beauty of sunsets, cloud formations or the changing colors of the valley's hills.
Bea is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clair E. Sterrett; 2 daughters, Louella Dalton (Charles) of Lake Bay, WA and Madelyn (Penny) Fordyce (Warren) of Yakima; 1 son, James E. Sterrett of Boise, ID; and a brother Charles Warren of Puyallup, WA. Also surviving are grandchildren Vicky, Rick, Randy, and Ron Dalton, Lori Straus, Susan Smith and Jacqueline Sterrett, 12 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Warren and Ruth (Jeffers) Smith; 2 sisters, Charlene Slavens and Viola Mitchell; and 2 brothers James and Arthur Warren.
Funeral services for Bea Sterrett will be held on April 24, 2006 at 12:00 noon at Valley hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA followed by internment at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the support and loving care provided by Julia Friend, Esmelda Chavez, and Cecilia Trevino TLC In-Home care, and Hospice of Sunnyside, with special thanks to Dorrie Roy and Rev. Allen R. Johnson.

Otha "Odie" L. Akins
TIETON - Otha "Odie" L. Akins, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep from natural causes on April 18, 2006.
Otha was born February 19, 1920 in Pyatt, Arkansas to William and Nola (McIntyre) Copeland. Odie was raised and educated in Pyatt and then went on to obtain her ordained minister license in CA. On April 12, 1941 she married Boyd R. Akins in Harrison, AR.
After WWII, they moved to Washington in 1946, living in Naches, Cowiche, and Tieton. Otha was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God in Naches. She spent most of her life raising her children and her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her caring of family and friends.
Otha is survived by her son, Robbie Akins and wife, Marcia of Tieton; her sister, Mozelle Richardson of Oklahoma; and her brother, Robert Copeland and wife, Katherine of Oklahoma. She is survived by four grandchildren, Chris O'Dell of Cowiche, Kevin O'Dell of Puyallup, Antonne O'Dell of Kennewick and Heather Escobedo of Riverdale, CA; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd R. Akins and daughter, Mollie O. Breshears.
Graveside services will be held on April 21, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements.
Jesus G. Ramirez
Jesus G. Ramirez, 56, of Sunnyside died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at his home.
Mr. Ramirez was born in Grandview. He served in the Marines. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include his parents, Jacinta and Juvencio Ramirez of Grandview; three sons, Jesus Ramirez of Spokane, Joey Ramirez and Jose Rey Ramirez of California; two daughters, Teresa Ramirez and Nina Ramirez, both of Richland; two brothers, Alex Ramirez of Nampa, Idaho, and Andy Ramirez of Pasco; four sisters, Maria Acosta of Spokane, Connie Cantu and Tana Gonzalez, both of Grandview and Marcelina Ortega of Sunnyside; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Apostolic Church, 1510 E. Lincoln Ave., Sunnyside.
