Ralph Lee Stettler III
Ralph Lee Stettler III, 58, of Pateros, Wash., died Monday in Wenatchee.
Mr. Stettler was born in Elizabeth, N.J. He worked in sales throughout Washington, including Yakima.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Stettler.
Private family services will be held.
Ramon Cuevas
Ramon Cuevas, 54, of Toppenish died Monday in Las Vegas.
Mr. Cuevas was born in Mexico. He was working construction in the Las Vegas area.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Cuevas; three sons, Juan Cuevas, Eric Cuevas and Saul Cuevas; a daughter, Brenda Cuevas; two sisters, Vitalina Arias and Rosa Lacatero; and seven brothers, Andres Cuevas, Efren Cuevas, Jose Luis Cuevas, Gerardo Cuevas, Francisco Cuevas, Israel Cuevas and Oscar Cuevas.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Resurrection Catholic Church in Zillah. Burial will follow at the Toppenish Elmwood Cemetery.
Jane Hernandez
Jane Hernandez, 94, of Toppenish died Monday.
Mrs. Hernandez was born in Hayden, Colo., and lived in Zillah before moving to Toppenish in 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, a son, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
At her request, no funeral will be held.
Darleen LaRae Dodson
YAKIMA - Darleen LaRae Dodson, 57, of Cowiche, passed away May 6, 2006 at Yakima Regional Hospital. Darleen was born in Yakima on February 23, 1949 to Paul and Betty (Harris) Zito.
Darleen worked as a card dealer, bartender and was owner of Dar's Pub. She was a member of Yakima County's Sheriff Posse and city pool leagues. Darleen loved fishing, horseback riding, the mountains and her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Fray M. Dodson; daughter, Angela Bonick; 3 sons Daniel Dodson, Thomas Dodson and Travis Dodson; her Father, Paul Zito; and 7 siblings. She will be missed by Grandchildren Autumn, Danielle, Tyler, Sara, Kori, Mathew, and Amber. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Betty Zito; sister Pat Zito; and brother John Zito.
Viewing for Darleen Dodson will be Tuesday May 9, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 10, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Yakima Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 at West Hills Memorial Park. All who knew Darleen are welcome to attend a reception following services, at the Carpenters Union Hall, 507 S. 3rd Street, Yakima, WA.
Elden "Pappy" Helms
UNION GAP – Elden “Pappy” Helms, 85, of Union Gap passed away Friday, May 5, 2006 at his home.
Elden was born Sept. 4, 1920 in Strawberry, Kansas. Following his schooling, he served in the Merchant Marines. He then returned to Kansas where he farmed for 23 years before coming to Washington. He married Elsie Rogge Feb. 14, 1943 and they were blessed with seven children.
He moved to the Yakima Valley in 1963 and farmed on the Satus until the early 70s. Following his retirement, he helped out his sons by driving truck & operating heavy equipment, landscaping, and construction.
Elden loved to ride his motorcycle cross-county and enjoyed road trips home to Kansas nearly every year. He loved spending time with his family and special family events.
He is survived by four sons, Keith of Quilcene, WA, Dan and Jim, both of Yakima, and Steve of Ellensburg; three daughters, Connie True of Yakima, Susan Helms-Peyer of Vancouver, and Kathryn Johnson of Yakima; two brothers, Wilbert & Vernon of Linn, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence; and a granddaughter, Amy Helms.
Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 29, 2006 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 7809 Tieton Dr., Yakima.
Leandra D. Perez
Leandra D. Perez, 92, of Prosser died Friday, May 5, 2006 at Grandview Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Perez was born in Masaya, Nicaragua. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Marina Perez of Nicaragua; three sons, Luis Lopez Perez of San Francisco, Cesar A. Lopez Perez of Prosser and Ramon Lopez Perez of Los Angeles; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens. No viewing is scheduled.
Harold Miller
UNION GAP – Harold Loyd Miller, 80, of Yakima passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006 morning at Parkside Nursing Home.
Harold was born Nov. 27, 1925 in Hagler, NE to Loyd & Dona Browning.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, spending time in Okinawa, the Philippines and other parts of the Pacific Theater. He served on the SS McCracker and the SS Menesfee. As a young military man, he made a promise to the Lord that if he came through this difficult time he would never drink or use drugs and would lead his life in the best way he could. He never went back on his promise and was deeply loved by his many friends and family members.
Harold came to Yakima in the late 1960s and worked as a salesman for Rick Marson Pontiac and Yakima Dodge until his retirement in the late 1970s. He was very active in the local VFW where his daily card playing led to his nickname of “Mr. Pinochle.”
He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed wildlife and was an avid birdwatcher.
Harold is survived by his wife, Louise of Yakima; children, Linda Steinborn of Aberdeen, and James (Lavonne) Miller of Tacoma, Tammy (Rocky) Ross of Yakima, and Linda (Guy) Anderson of Hoodsport, Jackie (Bob) Ross of Yakima, Mike (Mary) Pulliam of Yakima, Steve (Ruth) Pulliam of Soap Lake, Marilyn (Kurt) Boyd of Clatskanie, Edith (Leroy) Cosper of Arkansas, Carol (Richard) Parks of Soap Lake, Terry (Bill) Renecker of Yakima, Tina (Dan) Murphy of Longview, Tracy (Doug) Renecker of Yakima, Scott Pulliam of Arkansas and Donna Baker of Selah,; two brothers, Royce (Sherry) Miller of Yakima and Robert (Vera) Miller of LaGrande, OR; a sister, Darlene (Eurlis) Miller of Caldwell, ID; 39 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first two wives: Dorothy and Patricia Miller; his parents; six siblings and four grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, May 8 at 2 p.m. at the Yakima Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home.
