Jason Joseph Irvine
"To the world you may be one man, but to one man you may be the world!"
YAKIMA - Jason Joseph Irvine passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2006.
He was born in Yakima on January 30, 1979 to Calvin and Phyllis (Mills) Irvine.
Jason was a family man whose first thought everyday after work was to pick up his eight month old daughter, Regan, from daycare.
Regan was his pride and joy and he spent every available minute with her. He loved spending time with his wife Heather and playing with their dog Rocky. Heather and Jason met at West Valley High School in the ninth grade and were inseparable ever since. Jason was a friend to everyone, and would envelop you in a bear hug upon first meeting you, and make tears stream from your eyes when he would kid around which he loved to do. He just loved to make people laugh and have fun together, and was loved by everyone. Jason was a gentleman, and a perfect example of an all American man who touched the hearts of all fortunate enough to know him. Jason will never be forgotten, his light and laughter will continue to glow in every rainbow, every sunrise, and every sunset that you see.
From an early age, Jason enjoyed being outdoors with friends and family, riding dirt bikes, and eventually moving on to street bikes. His first vehicle was a 1967 Chevy truck which he nicknamed 'The Millennium Falcon' stating it was the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. He also liked to go fishing and camping whenever it was possible. Jason worked hard to support his family as a sheet metal worker in Union Local 66.
He is survived by wife Heather and daughter Regan, parents Calvin & Phyllis Irvine, sister Amy Howard Irvine, brother Jon Irvine, niece Ashley, mother-in-law Connie Markle, father-in-law Rick Roberson, grandparents Nita Crane, Sally Murray (Irvine), Philip J. & Diana Mills, uncles and aunts Joe & Barb Mills, with their children Justin & Jessica, James & Cheryl Mills, with their children Ryker & Rayanne, Tim & Lisa Irvine with their children Zane, Justin, and Halle. Marilyn & Rick Cade and cousins Sean, Shalon, and Rachelle, Marilyn and Bruce Angeloff and cousins Christy and Craig Great Aunt Connie Buchman and cousins Denice and Deanne. He was preceded in death by father-in-law Oscar Markle and grandparents Miles Irvine, Emma Irvine, Arlene Mills, Grandpa Pat Irwin and by Great Uncle Charles Buchman and thousands of friends.

Roy Durand
YAKIMA - Our dad was born in the 4th of July Canyon near Kellogg, Idaho on October 5, 1919, to Thomas and Blanche Durand.
Dad worked several jobs as a young man. He painted bridges, cooked in restaurants and hauled fruit to California before joining the Army. He participated in the Normandy Invasion and with his unit, fought across France, Belgium and Germany. As a Technical Sergeant he earned the bronze star along with several citations, most recently the Freedom Medal. Entitled to disabled veteran benefits following discharge, he refused to accept them believing that there were others who deserved them more.
After leaving the Army, he hired on with Webb Tractor and Equipment in Yakima, with the intention of working through the winter. He remained with the company for 37 years serving as mechanic, Shop Foreman and eventually General Manager. While with Webb Tractor he met Betty Reed who was the company bookkeeper. They were married on March the 25th 1949. They started their family on a small farm near Zillah, eventually moving to Lower Naches where they have lived for the past 43 years. Dad was very active in the community. He served as Fire Commissioner, little league baseball coach, 4-H leader. He was a member of the Central Washington Quarter Horse Association, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, and the Elks Lodge 318. He was a member and chairman of The Central Washington State Fair Board and served as director for many years. Dad's true passion was rodeo and he played a big role in bringing The National High School Rodeo Finals and the Columbia River Rodeo Circuit Finals to Yakima. He was very proud of his role in bringing the Sundome to Yakima.
His love for his horses and the outdoors took him on many adventures. Riding "Ol' Stretch" with his faithful dog Bobby trotting along side. Being an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and fishing and the solitude the mountains provided. He was also a craftsman in the art of woodworking.
Dad was always there to help and guide us kids, but it did not stop with us. He often took time to teach and guide others. He was a friend, father, grandfather, mentor and coach to each and everyone that touched his life. All of us children and grandchildren along with the many neighborhood youngsters now grown will remember the horse drawn sleigh and buggy rides he was happy to give. He will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers and a daughter Sharon Lee. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty, 2 daughters, Judy (Jack) Peebles, Ryrie, ID, Carol (Dan) Riblett, Roslyn, WA, and 2 sons, John (Debbie) Durand, Yakima and Jim (Diana) Durand, Selah, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
