Loretta Wilsey
YAKIMA - Loretta Emily Wilsey, 82, of Yakima, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006 at home. Loretta was born Feb. 5, 1924 in Hollister, ID to David & Janet Hickman. As a young girl, she moved to Yakima where she spent most of her life. She graduated from high school, then married Harvey Wilsey on Dec. 25, 1946.
Loretta enjoyed singing with family and friends and entertained at nursing homes and at the fair. She was a homemaker and loved gardening. She was active in the Jehovah's Witnesses and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by: four sons, Barry, Robin and Randy Wilsey, all of Yakima and Dennis Wilsey of Salem, OR; a daughter, Debbie Gara of Pasco; a step-daughter, Mickey Murphy of Montana; a brother, Dallas Hickman of Yakima; a sister, Ila McCumber of Colorado; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 24 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall, 57003 Mieras Rd. Friends & family are invited for food and fellowship at the family home following services. Valley Hills Funeral Home & Crematory is taking care of arrangements.
Virginia Rose Thompson
YAKIMA - Virginia Rose Thompson, 80, of Orange, CA passed away Friday, June 16, 2006 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Virginia was born in Jacksonville, FL. She worked as a registered nurse.
She is survived by two sons, David Thompson of New Jersey and Daniel Thompson of San Clemente, CA; two daughters, Diane Ragland of Orange, CA and Deborah Johnson of Yakima; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
No local services will be held.
Randall "Randy" James Kezele
YAKIMA - Randall "Randy" James Kezele, 47, of Yakima went home to heaven on June 4, 2006. He went to sleep and woke up in the arms of the Lord.
Randy was born on Dec. 19, 1958 to Matt Jr. and Niva Jean (Niles) Kezele in Yakima.
Randy devoted his life to his daughter, Ashley, and loved his family with a heart of gold.
In-between playing practical jokes, Randy loved skiing on water and snow. He also liked to paintball and play video games with his brother and friends. He greatly enjoyed camping and fishing, and antiquing. His love of dogs was exceptional; especially for his mom's teacup poodle he called "Lil Monkey."
Randy graduated from Naches Valley High School in 1978. He worked many jobs in and out of the valley, some being the U.S. Forest Service (Naches), White Pass Ski Lodge, Jim's garage (Tieton), Gary Trepanier Excavating (Naches Hgts.), Columbia Asphalt (Yakima), Lounsbury Trucking (Wapato), and Quail Ridge Apartments (Yakima).
Randy is survived by his daughter Ashley Kezele of Yakima, his parents, Matt and Niva Kezele of Naches Heights, one brother Matt Kezele III of Naches Heights, one sister-in-law Utahna Kezele of Bend, OR, and one sister Jeanne Lenhart (husband David) of Naches Heights. He is also survived by one nephew, Ronnie Vickers of Pittsfield, MA, three nieces, Cathy Jenkins of Poulsbo, WA, Twilah Kezele of Yakima, Amber Stewart (husband Ryan) of Bend, OR, Lavinia Lenhart (fiancee Ryan Robinson of Yakima, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
At Randy's request, there will be no funeral service. A memorial will be held on Friday, June 9, 2006 at Tieton Drive Bible Chapel (4305 Tieton Drive) at 1:00 P.M. in Yakima. Pastor Welch from Community Alliance will be the speaker.
Randy's uncle Rudy Kezele and father, Matt, and will be playing.
Rafael Silva Mederas
Rafael Silva Mederas, 79, of Mattawa died Tuesday.
Mr. Mederas was born in Mexico; he recently moved to Mattawa.
Survivors include his wife, Guadalupe Silva of Mattawa; nine daughters, Narcisa Aceves, Consuelo Campos and Guadalupe Mederas of Karmen, Calif., Orthelia Aguilar and Martha Loeara of Wenatchee, Luz Mederas of Sacramento, Calif., Tomasa Kaufan of Nampa, Idaho, Maria Ornelas of Mattawa, and Carman Ramirez of Long Beach, Calif.; three sons, Francisco Mederas of Fairfield, Calif., Rafael Mederas of Lodi, Calif., and Leonardo Mederas of Sacramento; 32 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Sunnyside Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home. Rosary will follow at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sunnyside.
Nora Mae Sumerlin
YAKIMA – Nora Mae Sumerlin, 98, of Yakima, passed away Friday, June 2, 2006 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Nora was born Sept. 13, 1907 in Calde3asuc, Idaho to William and Irene (Gans) Taylor. She was the second child of six.
Nora met and married Lloyd (Buck) Sumerlin in Walla, Walla, WA in 1924. They moved to Yakima and lived here together raising their daughters for 50 years. Nora worked in the fields along side her husband and also in the warehouses.
Nora was a very loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She gave great support in raising her grandchildren. She has lived with her eldest daughter, Ruby, for the last 16 years. She lived in Yakima for a total of 80 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by: two daughters, Ruby Estep and Betty Goehri and a sister, Lurene Renteria, all of Yakima; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Irene Taylor; her husband Lloyd (Buck) Sumerlin; an infant son; a daughter, Norabelle Peets; two brothers, Floyd and Frank Taylor; two sisters, Annabelle Robb and Rachel Taylor; three son-in-law, William Peets, Jerry Estep and Jack Goehri, and two great-grandsons, Daniel Taylor and Jeffery Himes.
Nora’s family wishes to thank Memorial Hospice for al the care and kindness extended to her.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Valley Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
M. Charles “Chuck” Stewart
M. Charles “Chuck” Stewart, 81, of Grandview passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Kadlec Medical Center, Richland, Wa.
Chuck was born Dec. 29, 1924 in Tacoma, Wa. To Merton C. and Cecilia (Linggi) Stewart. He served in the U.S. Navy, in 1948 he came to Richland and worked at Hanford for 12 years. He married Barbara Wilkz, his wife of 42 years, she passed away in 1992.
In 1994 he married Mary Jane Cohu. He came to Grandview where he worked as a realtor and later went back to work at Hanford for a short time. He worked as a carpenter in Grandview. Chuck loved to work with wood, enjoyed reading and puzzles. He was a member of the Grandview Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Stewart of Grandview; his children Linda (Jerry) Schiller of Longview, Wa., Michael (Liz) Stewart of Prosser, Barbara Johnson of Idaho, Kathy (Jeff) Fisher of Hawaii, David (Carolyn) Greene, Debra (Mike) Christensen, Gregory (Catherine) Greene and Mike (Melinda) Greene; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Viewing will be Sunday June 4, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Sunnyside Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday June 5, 2006 at the Grandview Church of the Nazarene.
