Malinda Louise McCoy
Malinda Louise McCoy, 78, died Monday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
Mrs. McCoy was born in Yakima and lived her whole life in the Yakima Valley. She worked many years for Continental Telephone and later ran a part-time antique business.
Survivors include two sons, Miles McCoy of West Linn, Ore., and Mark McCoy of Everett, Wash.; one sister, Grace Dunn of Gig Harbor, Wash.; and one grandchild.
Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Naches Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Second Ave., Naches.

George W. Bartlett
George W. Bartlett, 87, of Yakima died Monday at Highgate House.
Mr. Bartlett was born in Topeka, Kan. He was an Army veteran and worked for Battelle Northwest and General Electric in the Tri-Cities.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeanne Staley of Yakima, and three grandchildren.
Services will be in Kennewick.

Donna Madelyn Henley
Donna Madelyn Henley, 84, of Yakima died Tuesday at Summitview Health Care Center, Yakima.
Mrs. Henley was born in Sherman, Mich., and lived in Plains, Mont. She was a sixth-grade teacher at Wapato School for 36 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Gail Huibregtse of Wapato; two sisters, Helen Posey of Florida and Yvonne Batsakis of Michigan; one brother, Bill Lowrie of Michigan; and two grandsons.
Committal service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reservation Community Memorial Park, west of Wapato. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church, Wapato.
Merritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joaquin R. Flores
Joaquin R. Flores, 34, died Thursday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Flores was born in Santa Fe, Guerrero, Mexico.
Survivors include his companion, Prajedis Velazquez, one son, Christopher Flores, and one daughter, Yaritza Flores, all of Union Gap; his mother, Berula Rodriques, and his sister, Julia Flores, both of Mexico.
Funeral and burial will be in Santa Fe, Guerrero, Mexico, at a later date.

Vivian Ethel Kent
Vivian Ethel Kent, 86, of Yakima died Tuesday.
Mrs. Kent was born in Alaska and moved to Yakima in 1993. She was a beautician.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Kent of Yakima; two sons, Leslie Starks of Arizona and Robert Kent of Vancouver, Wash.; one daughter, Treva Harmon of Yakima; two sisters, Eleanor Smith of Anchorage, Alaska and Verna Castanaza of Duvall, Wash.; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no services.

Joyce Katherine Campbell
Joyce Katherine Campbell, 83, of Yakima died Wednesday.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Blackduck, Minn., and moved to Yakima as a young girl. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, David Campbell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Diane Ritchie of Freeman, Wash.; one sister, Jean Feyerherm of Yakima; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no services.

William Charles Nelson
William Charles "Bill" Nelson, of Redmond, Wash., died
on Sept. 14, 2004, after a fall at home. He was 83.
He was born
Nov. 15, 1920, in Wenatchee, Wash., to Wilbur and Mary Nelson. Raised in Cashmere, he grew up in the family orchard business. A gifted athlete for the Cashmere Bulldogs, Bill received a football scholarship to the University of Washington. He played on the freshman and varsity teams, lettering three times. He was a devoted Husky supporter until his death, rarely missing a football game. After graduation, he received his MBA from the Harvard Business School.
While at Harvard, Bill played rugby. The 1943 team won the national rugby championship, and he was voted the most valuable player.
He served his country during World War II as an officer in the Army.
On December 4, 1945, Bill married
Barbara Joyce Shackelford. They moved to Redmond, Wash., in 1957 and raised five children.
Bill spent his career in contractors insurance and bonding as CEO and president of Dawson & Company, Inc. He was an industry pioneer and received countless awards and accolades. His most prestigious award was the Associated General Contractors of Alaska Hard Hat Award, which he received in 1989.
After selling the company in the early 1980's, Bill turned his attention to his love of property development. This year, he received the Redmond Chamber of Commerce 2003 Redmond Business Excellence Continuing Achievement Award.
"Big Pa" will be remembered by his grandchildren for his positive outlook on life and unwavering devotion to his family.
He was a member of the Univ. of Wash. Tyee Club, SAE Fraternity, AGC, Seattle Tennis Club, Rainier Club, Washington Athletic Club, Overlake Golf & Country Club and the Redmond Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons, Buff Nelson (Lori) of Redmond, Brian Nelson (Leslie) of Wenatchee, Wash., and Michael Nelson of Woodinville, Wash.; daughters Janet McCann (John) of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Mary Morrow (Stuart) of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
In celebration of his life, a gathering of family and friends will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Overlake Country Club, 8000 NE 16th, Bellevue, Wash.
