Herbert Peter Nyberg
YAKIMA - Herbert Peter Nyberg, 82, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 17, 2006 after an extended illness with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born to Swedish immigrant parents, Olaf and Anna Nyberg, on May 26, 1924 in Seattle, WA. After graduating from Ballard High School, he attended a year of trade school then began fruit ranching on Naches Heights in the Yakima area. Later, he started Yakima Valley Nursery.
He met and married Olive Anderson on January 29, 1949. They lived all of their married lives on Naches Heights.
Although he worked as an orchardist and nurseryman, his real love was serving God. He directed a Sunday School at Naches Heights Club House and later helped found Naches Heights Community Church (formerly Marcus Whitman School). He was a member and elder of Christian Life Center, served as Yakima's Full Gospel Businessmen's president and was a board member of N.W. Teen Challenge. He and his wife Olive supported missions in a number of countries and traveled extensively visiting missionaries and helping them in a number of countries.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Olive; children, Nancy (Gordon) Kuenn of Golden, CO, Fred (Linda) Nyberg of Yakima, Joyce (Robert) Brausen of Spokane; grandchildren, Nicole (Jeremy) Herring, Kyle Nyberg, Andrew and Evan Kuenn, Molly and Paige Brausen; and sisters Margaret Wimberley of Yakima and Aina Johnson of Tacoma.
Viewing will be held Wed. from 1 until 5 p.m. and Thurs. from 9 until 10. A memorial service will be held at Christian Life Center, 716 N. 40th Ave., Yakima, on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 1 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in the name of the Christian Life Missions Fund and may be mailed to 716 N. 40th Ave., Yakima, 98908.
The family thanks Diep Miller and the staff of Apple Creek Adult Family Home for their loving care and concern. Also, we thank Hospice Chaplain Rev. Dan Rogers and Nurse Kathy Breshears.
Richard Alan Fredricks
Richard Alan Fredricks, 52, of Grandview died Thursday at Kadlec Medical Center.
Mr. Fredricks was born in Mountain Home, Idaho. He worked in banking and was a supervisor of Cash Flo Division in Seattle.
Survivors include his parents, Patricia and Claude Fredricks of Grandview, and a brother, Ronald Fredricks.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside, is in charge of arrangements.
Robert E. Leinbach
YAKIMA - Robert E. Leinbach, 71, a lifelong Yakima resident, passed away peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Memorial Hospital.
Robert was born August 1, 1934 in Yakima to Jack and Edith (Smith) Leinbach. He attended school in Yakima, graduating from Yakima High School. He served in the Navy from 1954-1958. Upon return he attended and graduated from Perry trade school in 1961. Robert married Judy Rice on August 20, 1961. Together they had two sons and spent 45 wonderful years together.
Robert enjoyed a variety of careers including owning his own businesses. He was a mechanic, a Snap-On Tools salesman, and owned Busy Bee Lawn Service and Boxcar Hobbies. He was passionate about his model railroading and was a member of the Yakima Model Railroading Club and a Charter member of the 1/87 Model Truck Club. He was know internationally for his 1/87th scale custom built trucks. Robert was an active member of the East Valley Reformed Church and came to know the Lord while attending Bible Study Fellowship.
Robert is survived by his wife Judy; his sons Brian of Peoria, Arizona and Todd of Cowiche (Kasey); grandson Cole Leinbach; brother Jack Leinbach of Ellensburg; sister Patty Johnson of Seattle; and many nieces and nephews. Robert was proceeded in death by his parents Jack and Edith Leinbach, and his sisters Janice Leinbach and Sharon Setzer.
A celebration service will be held on Monday. June 19th, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the East Valley Reformed Church at 7203 Mieras Road. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the East Valley Reformed Church building fund.
William "Bill" E. Barnett
William "Bill" E. Barnett, 71, of Mabton died Wednesday.
Mr. Barnett was born in Toppenish. He worked at Cal-Pac, later Del Monte, in farm maintenance until he retired in 1993 and moved to Mabton.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Barnett of Rockaway Beach, Ore., and Ed Barnett of Mabton; a daughter, Sharon Ott of Prosser; four brothers, Frank Barnett and Mike Barnett of Yakima, Gene Barnett of Sunnyside and Joe Barnett of Goldendale; four sisters, JoAnne Liebreht of Moses Lake, Wash., Virginia Barnett of Seattle, Grace Wagoner of Yakima and Mary Jane Tysill of Lyle; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Zillah City Cemetery.
Jose Alejandro Delacruz-Figueroa
We received a blessed gift on February 6, 2003. This angel came from heaven to bless our lives. He brought us joy and happiness beyond belief. The moments he shared with mommy and daddy and big brother Danny were of a supernatural essence.
Jose Alejandro Delacruz-Figueroa went to be with Jesus on June 11, 2006. He is survived by his parents Efrain and Maricela Delacruz and his brother, Danny. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents Antonio Figueroa and Maria B. Figueroa, both of Yakima, Grandfather Eduardo Delacruz of Mexico, and numerous aunts and uncles who loved him dearly.
Baby Jose is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Elena and by one aunt.
We know our precious one is walking in fields and picking flowers with Jesus today. He received his wings in a peaceful sleep surrounded by all of us who loved him so.
Viewing will be held at Valley Hills Funeral Home at 2600 Business Lane in Yakima from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held at Gateway Assembly of God Church in Union Gap at 10:00 a.m. Friday with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Charles Young
Charles J. Young, 63, of Yakima died Wednesday at home.
Mr. Young was born in Ava, Mo., and moved to Yakima as a child. He was employed by Pepsi as a route driver.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Young of Yakima; a son, Jeremy Young of Selah; two daughters, Leah Gibbs of Selah and Heidi Young of Yakima; four brothers, Boyd Young of Husum, Wash., Don Young of Wapato, and Murrell Young and Randy Young, both of Yakima; and one grandson.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Zenita Corrine Drake
Zenita Corrine Drake, 94, of Yakima died Wednesday at Willow Springs Care.
Mrs. Drake was born in Plainville, Kan. She lived in Yakima for the past 15 years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Francis Drake of Yakima and Norman Drake of Spokane.
No service is planned. Valley Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
