Diane L. Say
Diane Lynn Say, of Grandview, passed away on April 15, 2011.
She was born to Joe and Dot Marple in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 23, 1952. She moved to Grandview, Washington with her parents in 1959 and graduated from Grandview High School in 1972.
Diane had a big heart for people with disabilities. She was a coach for Special Olympics for several years and started the first 4-H group in Eastern Washington for developmentally delayed adults. She enjoyed planting flowers and doing yard work. One of her favorite things to do was to take her granddaughter Brittany to the park to feed the ducks even though she was afraid of birds. She loved to go camping, play tennis, go for walks and travel. One of her favorite places to visit was the beach and she would go even if she could only afford to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Diane is survived by her parents, Joe and Dot Marple; her daughter Elizabeth (Robert) Alba; her granddaughters Brandy and Brittany Ridenour; her brother Greg Marple and her niece Charity (Josh) Marple and nephew Joe (Angela) Marple. She is also survived by her companion Dave Sandberg.
A memorial service will be held at the Prosser Church of the Nazarene on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prosser Church of the Nazarene.
Constance Isabel Marsch
Constance Isabel Marsch, 83, of Sunnyside died Wednesday, April 13, 2011.
Mrs. Marsch was born in Bogota, N.J. She lived in the Valley most of her life and was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Rick Marsch of Silverdale, Wash.; a brother, William Oscanyan of Virginia; a sister, Ellen Butcher of Gresham, Ore.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
At the request of the family, no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Sunnyside.
Edna Theresa Biggs
Edna Theresa Biggs, 79, of Yakima died Monday, April 11, 2011. Mrs. Biggs was born in Shanghai, China. She worked as a teacher and lived in the Yakima Valley for the past 10 years.
Survivors include a son, Patrick Marshall of San Bruno, Calif.; and a stepson, Joseph Anderson Evans of Yakima.
A private burial service will be held. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
Mildred “Millie” Stroud
Mildred “Millie” Stroud passed away peacefully on April 9, 2011, at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital into the arms of an angel with her daughter Deanna by her side.
Mildred was born on July 5, 1934, in Pierre, South Dakota to Harold and Margaret (Karge) Fisher.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie Stroud of Yakima; sons, Greg Wood of Lynnwood, WA, Steven (Charlene) Wood of Yakima, and Lester (Peggy) Wood of Yakima; daughters, Mikki (Randy) Swanson of Port Orchard, WA, Tamera (Wesley) Wildman of Yakima, and Deanna (Rick) Bishop of Yakima; step-daughter, Leslie (Cory) Frantz of Yakima; sister, Iona (Lee) Pilker of Everett, WA; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one aunt; two nieces; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
Joyce Brown-North
Joyce Brown-North, 65, of Yakima, WA passed away at her home on Friday, April 8, 2011. She was born in Summit, Arkansas on August 30, 1945.
Work brought her family to Yakima where she met and married William Earl North, Sr. and had two sons. She worked at Sundown M Ranch helping others.
Her favorite activities included playing on the computer, going to the casino, singing karaoke.
Joyce is survived by her three sons, William Earl North, Jr. of Yakima, Bob North of Sunnyside, and Shawn North of Yakima; brother, Harrel Brown of Yakima; sisters, Laverne McEntire of Yakima, Brenda James of Arkansas, and Linda Zimmerman of Arkansas; and grandsons, Shawn, Jr., Joshua, Gregory, and Eric North.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Earl North, Sr.; parents, Homer and Rosemary Brown; brother, Dearl Brown; and sister, Wanda.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Full Gospel Church, 2120 S. 3rd Ave. in Union Gap, WA. A burial service is planned at a later date in Benton, Arkansas.
Kelly E. Goodman
Kelly Eugene Goodman, 40, of Selah died Friday, April 8, 2011. Mr. Goodman was born in Springfield, Mo., and had lived in the Yakima Valley for many years. He worked for a short time at Safeway and later as a janitor.
Survivors include his father, Jerry Goodman of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; his mother, Dorothy Goodman of Selah; a daughter, Cheyenne Goodman; and three brothers, Rickey Goodman of Selah, Joy Goodman of California and Jeff Goodman of Granite Falls, Wash.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.
Evelyn A. Thomas
Evelyn A. Thomas, 54, of Yakima died Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Ms. Thomas was born in New Mexico and moved to Yakima in 1974. She worked for many years at Yakima Specialties.
Survivors include two brothers, Steven Thomas of Yakima and Jim Parks; and a sister, Nancy Thomas.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Zillah City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.
