Albert E. Way Jr.
Albert E. Way Jr., 80, of Yakima died Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Mr. Way was born in Tacoma and served in the Navy. He worked for Boeing for many years before retiring and moving to Yakima in 2009.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Way of Yakima.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
Harrison C. Garman
Harrison C. Garman, 95, of Zillah died Monday, April 4, 2011 in Yakima.
Mr. Garman was born in Philadelphia, Pa. He served in the Army and worked as a computer repairman.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Moe of Granger.
At Mr. Garman's request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
Frank G. Segger
Frank George Segger, 77, of Yakima died Monday, April 4, 2011.
Mr. Segger was born in San Francisco. Before retiring and moving to Yakima in 2003, he worked for many years as a machinist for the Boeing Co.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Segger of Yakima; a stepdaughter, Nina Hyvonen of Yakima; a brother, John Segger of California; a sister, Joanna Segger of California; and two grandchildren.
At Mr. Segger's request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
Ruth Irene Lyon
Ruth Irene Lyon, 90, of Yakima passed away April 3, 2011 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital in Yakima. She was born on December 31, 1920 in Lincoln, Colorado to Dura and Ruby (Sparks) Callihan.
At the age of five, she and her family moved to the Gleed/Naches area then later living in Wapato and graduating from White Swan High School. On October 25, 1940 she married Donald F. Lyon. She was a homemaker while Don farmed for many years. She later worked for various food services and restaurants in the Yakima area. Ruth enjoyed volunteering and volunteered for the VA and Senior Chore until November of 2010.
Ruth is survived by her son, Fred (Judy) of Athol, Idaho; daughter, Janet (Bruce) Klein of Nome, Alaska; one brother, Oren (Lorayne) Callihan of Wapato; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at West Hills Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Angela Kay Purdy
Angela Kay Purdy, 42, of Zillah died Sunday, April 3, 2011.
She was born in Yakima and was a lifelong resident of the Yakima Valley.
Survivors include a son, Justin Heigh of Zillah; a daughter, Shantel Purdy-Heigh of Zillah; her mother, Martha Caswell of Yakima; a brother, Alan Purdy of Zillah; and two grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9th, at First Baptist Church in Zillah. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Zillah.
Blanche Armstrong
Blanche Karen Armstrong, 96, of Selah died Sunday, April 2, 2011.
Mrs. Armstrong was born in Benedict, N.D. She lived in the Yakima Valley for many years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Armstrong of Selah and James Armstrong of Spokane; a daughter, Monti Knudsen of Veldhoven, Netherlands; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Saturday at the Bing Hampton Latter-day Saints Cemetery in Tucson, Ariz. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
Glenda L. Ware
Glenda L. (Brost) Ware went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the age of 65.
Glenda was born in Pasco, WA on Aug. 16, 1945 to Rubin and Darlene Brost. The family moved to the Wapato area when she was five years old. She graduated from White Swan High School in 1963.
Mom worked various jobs: Seattle First national Bank; 13 years for Snokist Growers cannery office; Putman Freight; and the job she loved the most, Strand Apples in Cowiche where she worked in the shipping office. She always said they were her second family. She retired after 11 years due to her health.
Mom is survived by two daughters, Becki (Dave) Ramirez of Yakima and Yvonne (Angelo) DeLorio of Montana; one son, Duane (Shannon) Webster of Seattle; seven grandchildren, Brandi, Dustin, Matt, Deidra, Kelly, Brittany and Cody; four great-granchildren, Mikayla, Adeena, Shaelynn, and Dyllon; and three brothers, Allen (Connie) of Ephrata, Leon (Sandy) of Wapato, and Dana (Linda) of Yakima.
We would like to thank Dr. Sharma, Dr. McLaughlin and Dr. Menashe for all they did for our mom.
As Mom’s request, there will be no service. Mom said to remember her with a big smile and a two step.
