Debra J. Tweeten

Debra Jean Tweeten, 54, of Mabton died Friday, April 1, 2011. Mrs. Tweeten was born in Sunnyside and had lived in the Lower Valley all of her life. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Glen Tweeten of Mabton; a son, Jonathan Tweeten of Yakima; a brother, Kevin Becker Sr. of Richland; two sisters, Kari Taylor and Sheryl McManus, both of Yakima; and two grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be at a future date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside.

Margaret Jarvis

Margaret Jarvis, 86, died Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Jarvis was born and raised in Yakima. She taught grade school.

Survivors include four children, Rebecca Kitchen, Paul Jarvis, Sara Kras and Keith Jarvis; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be in Orem, Utah. Private burial will be in Tahoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Yakima.

Rogelio "Roy" Solis

Rogelio "Roy" Solis, 63, of Zillah died Monday, May 30, 2011 in Toppenish. Mr. Solis was born in Rio Grande, Texas. He was a farm laborer.

Survivors include five brothers, Omar Solis of Zillah, Herman Solis of Buena, Homero Solis of Mabton, Francisco Solis of Grandview and Ramiro Solis of Seattle; and a sister, Hermilinda Solis of Oregon.

A celebration of life will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah.

Robert Richard Champlin

Robert Richard Champlin, 79, of Yakima died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at home. Mr. Champlin was born in San Rafael, Calif., and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He lived in Oregon and Montana before moving to the Yakima area this year. He worked as a refrigeration technician.

Survivors include a son, Gary Champlin of Portland; a daughter, Linda Leonardini of Yakima; two brothers, Dick Champlin of Missouri and Roscoe "Rocky" Champlin of Spokane; a sister, Reva Baker of Yakima; and three grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Donald Bailey

Donald Bailey, our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, and friend went to join his heavenly father on May 28, 2011. He was born in Winlock, Washington on August 26th, 1930 to Marie and Carl Bailey. He graduated from Winlock High School in 1950.

He followed his brother to Grandview Washington to farm and to work in the grape industry. He worked at many of the grape processing plants in the Yakima Valley including many years at US Grape in Sunnyside. He married his wife of 46 years, Ann Hanauer Price in 1965 and worked hard to support and raise his two daughters and one son. He retired from Washington Frontier on April 30 1993.

He spent his retirement keeping his yard on Pleasant Avenue in beautiful condition, riding his three wheel bike, surfing the internet and keeping in contact with family and friends via the internet.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Bailey who he loved with all his heart, one brother Jim (Mary) Bailey, two daughters Mardi (Mike) Dixon, and Jean (Ken) Monteith. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Matt Finch, Jenny Hare, Chris (Ashley) Price, Brittney (Robert) Khulman, Bailey Monteith, and Kendra Monteith as well as four honorary grandchildren. (You know who you are.) He is also survived by four great grandchildren, two sisters in law and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved son John Price, two brothers, two sisters, and his parents.

A celebration of Life will be held on Sunday June 5th at the Prosser Senior Center, 1231 Dudley Ave., in Prosser, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. with a memorial and potluck lunch. Please join us in remembering Don and his wonderful sense of humor. "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31.

Clarence Byma

Clarence Byma, 85, of Sunnyside passed away on May 27, 2011 in Sunnyside, Washington. He was born on May 3, 1926 in Uretrep, Holland to Ralph and Augusta Byma.

At the age of two, Clarence immigrated to the United States with his parents. They moved to the Bellflower, CA area and Clarence received his education while in Bellflower. He served his Country from December 24, 1944 to July 21, 1946. On June 7, 1950 he married Leona De Vries at Mitchellville, IA.

Clarence worked in the dairy business with his brother Jake in Buena Park, CA. In 1957, Clarence and his family moved to a Dairy on Braden Road in Sunnyside, Washington. Later, they moved to a farm on Independence Road in the Outlook area. Clarence semi-retired on some acreage on North Price Road in Outlook and then retired in April of 1991 and moved to Scoon Road. Clarence’s hobby was having peacocks.

He was a member of The United Reformed Church of Sunnyside and active in the Sunnyside Christian School. He served as an elder in church and was on the board for the Christian School.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Byma of Sunnyside; a daughter, Augusta (Kenneth) Lorensen of Buckeye, AZ; two sons, Garret Byma of Sunnyside and David (Pini) Byma of Vista, CA; daughter-in-law, Sharon Byma of Outlook; seven grandchildren; sister-in-law, Winnie Byma of Bellflower, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Clarence was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Byma; parents; brothers, Bernard Byma, Garret Byma, and Jacob Byma; a sister, Effie; and a nephew, Ralph.

Visitation will be offered 3PM-7PM on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. The funeral service will be at 10AM on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at The United Reformed Church of Sunnyside. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.

Vera V. McGlothlin

Vera V. McGlothlin, 91, of Yakima died Friday, May 27, 2011.

She was born in Halls Summit, Kan. She lived in Montesano for 57 years and in Yakima for the past eight years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include four children, Larry McGlothlin of Desert Aire, Deanna Reams of Yakima, Pamela Zeutschel of Puyallup and Timonth McGlothlin of The Dalles, Ore.; a brother, Ralph Davidson of Boulder City, Nev.; three sisters, Maybelle Mooney of Independence, Mo., Alice Lawson of Wichita, Kan., and Darlene Perrey of Flemington, Mo.; eight grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life is planned for late June in Montesano. A graveside service will be at the Wynooche Cemetery. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.
