Gail Owens
Gail Owens of Selah died at Yakima Memorial Hospital on May 20th 2011. She was born on June 10th 1952 to Stanley B. and Norma (Beck) Clark in Yakima, Washington. She attended school in Selah and graduated from Selah High School in 1970. She married Gary M. Wilder on December 1972. Gail worked at the Selah Library, Selah Variety Store, and various other retail stores. Later on in life she went back to school to obtain a degree in computers.
Gail is survived by her daughters Christine (Wilder) King and her husband Josh of Bellevue, WA; their children Alex and Katie. Danielle (Wilder) Allen and her husband Jim of Burlington, WA; their children Dylan Bertrand and Stevie Allen. Her son Gabriel Wilder and Tiffany Quinn of Yakima; their children Blaine Wilder, Kyran, Charlize and Rylie Quinn. She has two sisters Gloria Clark Schubert and husband Paul of Indiana and Kathy Clark Tilley and husband Carl of Wapato, WA. She has numerous nieces and nephews as well.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, nephew, and her grandparents.
At the request of her family no services will be held. Valley Hills Funeral Home of Yakima is in charge of arrangements. A special thanks to caregivers Heather Kielhorn and Jim Irish.
Brenda Lee Harto
Brenda Lee Harto, born on March 17, 1968, joined our father in heaven on May 19, 2011. She is a strong, beautiful mother and wife. She believes in the Lord and is a great example of his love. She is strong, loving, and loved. She loved to be outdoors spending time with her grandchildren. She is the best example of a Christian. Always pushing us to do our best, never taking no for an answer. Always giving more than second chances. She is always opening her heart to everyone. She looked forward to going to be with our Lord in Heaven. She is pain free and happy. She always said, "It's not goodbye, it's see you all again soon!"

Charles Ray Scammahorn
Charles Ray Scammahorn, 83, of Sunnyside died Thursday, May 19, 2011. Mr. Scammahorn was born in Cashmere. He did many jobs in his life from orchardist to well-driller.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Sunnyside.
Dwain H. Jones
Dwain Herald Jones of Selah passed away at home with family by his side on May 18, 2011. He was born June 3, 1939 in Rome, Missouri to Vernie Lee Jones and Delcie Alice (Day) Jones. He graduated from Ava High School in 1955 and at the age of 17 moved to Washington. Dwain met his wife of 53 years Jo Ann in 1957 and they established their home in Selah. They have two children Rocky Logan Wallace of Gig Harbor, WA and Rhonda Renee Fuwell of Selah.
Dwain worked for 30 years for the city of Selah where he retired as City Supervisor. Dwain and Jo Ann began traveling in their bus and spent six months of the year on the road where they met and befriended many people. When he wasn't traveling Dwain worked as a construction inspector for Huibregtse Louman. He remained employed with them until January of this year when he became ill. He most recently received an award for his outstanding work on the airport project. He could also be found often working on the roundabout project on Valley Mall Blvd.
Besides traveling with his wife around the country in their bus they also enjoyed some cruises with friends and family. In addition to traveling Dwain loved to go fishing, snowmobiling, dirt bike riding and many other family oriented activities. While his children were growing up he spent countless hours coaching baseball and softball and umpiring. When grandchildren and great grandchildren came along you could find him on the sidelines cheering them on.
Dwain was preceded in death by his parents Vernie Lee Jones and Delcie Alice (Day) Jones. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Jones of Selah; son, Rocky Logan (Terri) Wallace of Gig Harbor, WA; daughter, Rhonda Renee (David) Fuwell of Selah; sisters, Betty Cloud of Selah and Loretta Stiles of Ave, MO; and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration Potluck at the home of his daughter and son in law, 1006 West Orchard in Selah on June 4th beginning at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations can be made to Memorial Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank the kind staff and volunteers at North Star Lodge and Memorial Hospice Services.
Frank Leroy Cope
Frank Leroy Cope, 75, of Yakima died Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Mr. Cope was born in Nowata, Okla., and served in the Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked as a truck driver from 1975-1991. He lived in the Yakima area for the past six years.
Survivors include his wife, Beverley Cope of Yakima; two daughters, Becky Henning of Yakima and Roxana Palomino of Oxnard, Calif.; a brother, Frank Everett Cope of Sanger, Calif.; five grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
At his request, no services will be held. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.
Adrian Cantu` Sr.
Adrian Cantu` Sr, 70, of Selah died at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital on May 16, 2011. He was born in LaGrulla, Texas and moved to the Yakima area in 1969. He was a dry waller and operated Adrian Cantu` Drywall and Sons.
He is survived by his wife, MariaElena Cantu` of Selah; sons, Arturo Cantu` and Adrian Cantu` Jr. both of Selah; a daughter, Minerva Pena of Selah; brother, Octavio Cantu` of Texas; sisters, Lucila Mireles, Nilda Cabrieles, and Elma Cruz all of Texas; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services are being planned for a later date.
James T. Jenkins
James T. “Jim” “Jenks” Jenkins passed away on May 16, 2011, at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center with family at his bedside. He was born on December 20, 1920 in Red Boiling Springs, TN, to James N. and Nonie Jenkins. He was raised in Divernon, IL, and was the fifth child of nine siblings.
He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for a short period of time before joining the Navy. He served as a Chief Aviation Electrician in the South-Pacific Casu Unit. He received a Siver Star, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon, and a Good Conduct medal.
After the Navy he completed his electrical schooling in Yakima. He was a journeyman electrician in the IBEW for 37 years. He worked 25 years for Cramer Electric and 10 years for P.T. Electric before retiring in 1983.
He LOVED to fish for Steelhead and Salmon in the Klickitat River. He enjoyed most all sports. After moving to Golden Villa, he played pool with his buddies in the clubhouse.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 49 years, Esta Jenkins of Yakima; son, James (Marcia) E. Jenkins of Bothell, WA; daughters, Linda (John) Ann Hathaway of Spokane, WA, Cheri Brown of Milton, WA, and Barbara Peeler of Renton, WA; sister, Louann Gatton of Florida; nine grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be offered from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. today, Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Marvin T. Young
Marvin T. Young, 83, of Yakima died Sunday, May 15, 2011.
Mr. Young was born in Natural Dam, Ark., and moved to the Grandview area in 1947. He worked as an ironworker for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Bailey Young of Prosser; three daughters, Karen Campbell, Jan Bates and Deb Chronister, all of Yakima; a brother, Jim Young of California; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima. Burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
