Shirley E. Godkin
Shirley Elizabeth Godkin, 75, of Yakima died Thursday in Lynden, Wash. Mrs. Godkin was born in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Simmons of Vancouver, Wash., and Craig Simmons of Portland; two daughters, Sharon Doornink of Yakima and Deniece Pfeif of Sumas, Wash.; three brothers, Leon Driskill, Harrell Driskill and Darrell Driskill, all of Paul's Valley; a sister, Sue Kimberlin of Paul's Valley; and 11 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Nov. 21 at Ahtanum Pioneer Church. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
Lawrence David Haddock
Lawrence David Haddock, 77 of Yakima went to be with the Lord November 4th 2010.
He was born June 26th 1933 in Prairie Grove Arkansas to Cecil and Esta Haddock.
Lawrence was married to his wife Millie Hodges in Modesto California on December 16th 1955. The couple were blessed with two children.
His greatest loves were family, fishing, gardening and his service to the Lord. Lawrence served 10 years in the California National Guard. Lawrence was the District Overseer for the Pentecostal Church of God for 16 years. He also served as one of six Assistant General Overseers for the National Office of the same organization. He earned his Master?s Degree in Theology and a Doctorate of Divinity from The School of Bible Theology. Lawrence Pastored thriving churches in Oregon, California and Washington from 1959 till present.? Lawrence had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories. He had a passion for people that was contagious to all who knew him. He never met a stranger, and loved to serve.? As his grandson put it ?he was up early every morning cup of coffee in his hand, reading the Holy Scriptures, praying to The Great I Am?. Lawrence was respected by all and most loved his family and wife of nearly 55 years.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Millie Haddock; sisters Nina Beard of Modesto California and Chloe Wall of Olympia Washington; his children David and Lesa Haddock and Brenda and Danny Rogers of Yakima Washington; grandchildren Tiffany and Chris Willis, Heidi and Donovan Anderson, Nicholas and Annette Rogers and Jarid Haddock of Yakima Washington; and eight great-grandchildren who loved there Grandpa (Pappi) ; Tre, Tristan, Elisha, Quinn, Paige, Drewsie, Braeden and Noah Doah.
He was preceded in death by parents, Cecil and Esta Haddock and younger brother Leonard Haddock.
The family would like to thank the incredible teams at YVMH, Regional Hospital, Northstar Lodge and Yakima Valley Memorial Hospice. Especially Kathy, Kate, Tanna and Laurie for their kindness, compassion and dedication
There will be a viewing Tuesday November 9th 2010 from 3-7PM at Valley Hills Funeral Home.
There will be a Memorial Service Wednesday November 10th 2010 at 1PM at Solid Rock Family Worship Center 315 North 5th Ave Yakima Washington with a graveside following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Edgar Rippee
Edgar Gene Rippee, 84, of Yakima died Wednesday at Crescent Health Care. Mr. Rippee was born in Nevada, Mo., and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a water meter repair man and lived in Yakima the past 20 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Jarrett; a brother, Billy Rippee; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
Denzil Faulk
Denzil C. "Dee" Faulk of Grandview, passed away on November 3rd, 2010. He was born in Hominy, OK and lived in Grandview since he was a boy. After graduating from Grandview High School, Dee married his sweetheart, Beverly Caudle, and also joined the U.S. Army. Dee proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC, from 1954 to 1956. While living in North Carolina, Dee and Bev welcomed their first of three boys, Steve, to the family. After fulfilling the commitment to the Army, Dee, Bev, and Steve moved back to Grandview where they built a wonderful life. The family of three was expanded to five with the addition of two more sons: Dennis, and then Darrin.
Dee spent the majority of his working life as a Driver/Salesman for Carnation Co., and in later years as a custodian for the Grandview School District. Dee is preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Joan Faulk, his wife, Beverly Faulk, sisters, Vesta Faulk, Opal Dilbeck, Faye Wallace, Marge Clark, and a brother, Charles Faulk. Dee is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Connie, of West Richland; Dennis and Victoria, of Prosser; and Darrin and Tanya, of West Richland; Grandchildren, Gaylyn, Kari, Alena, Zach, Jesseca, Ben, and Carson; and one Great-grandchild, Brock. Dee is also survived by two sisters, Willa Mae Roberts of Richland and Thelma Gritzan of Vantage, and one brother Everett Faulk, of Grandview.
Dee was greatly loved by all that knew him and touched many lives. He will be greatly missed. We love you Dad/Grandpa!
A memorial service for Dee is planned for 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 9, at the Sunnyside Church of God. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charitable organization of your choice.
Robert L. Fox Sr.
Bob lived in various places across the U.S. as a child. His parents settled in the Sunnyside/Outlook area. He attended Sunnyside schools graduating high school in 1958.
After graduating he joined the Marines and was stationed in San Francisco on the Treasure Island base.
On July 9th, 1960 he returned to Sunnyside and married his high school sweetheart Dolores Dahl.
They went back to San Francisco in order for Bob to finish his stint in the Marines. While there on September 21st, 1961 their daughter Lorrie was born. When Bob finished his four years with the Marines they moved back home to the Sunnyside area. On May 5th, 1963 their son Bobby was born.
He worked many jobs in his lifetime but his career was 33 years as an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance in Sunnyside.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, brother Jim Fox and his parents Dave and Helen Fox.
He is survived by his daughter Lorrie (Randy) Wesselius, son Bobby (Deadean) Fox, grandchildren Sarah Bussey, Dusty (Mandy) Fox, Jacob (Melissa) Wesselius and Nikki Fox; brothers Bill, Dave and Don and sister Betty, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday November 9, 2010 at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside. Lunch to follow at the Eagles in Sunnyside. Please send Memorials to the Lung Association in lieu of flowers. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
Judy Lynn Brandsma
Judy Lynn Brandsma, 63, of Sunnyside died Saturday. Mrs. Brandsma was born in Seattle. She worked as a receptionist in the medical profession and was a longtime resident of Sunnyside.
Survivors include her children, Don Brandsma of Pasco, and Jeremy Brandsma and Kristen Desmarais, both of Sunnyside.
Services are pending at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside.
