Eddie Zimmerman
Eddie Zimmerman, 90, of Toppenish died Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Mrs. Zimmerman was born in Arkansas. She worked as a warehouse worker.
Survivors include a son, Jerome Zimmerman of Zillah; a daughter, Ada Gillet of Yakima; a sister, Audrey Turner of Yakima; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, March 2 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 3 at West Hills Memorial Park.
Ruth Lorraine Nelson
Ruth Lorraine Nelson, 86, of Yakima died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Summitview Healthcare Center. She was born in Yakima and worked as a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Hoggarth of Seattle.
Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 5 at Tahoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.
Nam Van Nguyen
Nam Van Nguyen, age 62, passed away on February 22, 2010 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 27, 1948 to Vu Thi Vi and Nguyen Viet Nginh in Saigon, Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen attended Yakima Valley Community College, and was married to Tung Thi Nguyen.
He was an employee at Energy Northwest for over 30 years. He was lead laborer and loved by his coworkers and employees that worked for him.
He retired in November 2008 to enjoy life with his wife and two children. On his off times he enjoyed fixing electronics and creating electronic devices. He enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world, from the Bahamas to Vietnam. He came to this country after the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. He met his wife, Tung Thi Nguyen, in Yakima, Washington the same year. He had two sons, James and Thomas Nguyen. He loved his wife and sons very much and dedicated his life to giving them a better life to live and succeeded in every way. He will be missed by his friends and previous coworkers for his sense of humor and his outgoing personality. His sons miss his strength and passion for life. They miss his never-ending patience and undying compassion for his family and friends. He always thought of others before he thought of himself. We hope we become the man just like you one day. We love you forever.
Mr. Nguyen is survived by his wife Tung Thi Nguyen of Moxee, WA; sons James Nguyen of Tri-Cities, WA and Thomas Nguyen of Farmington Hills, MI; by seven brothers, three sisters, and over 20 nieces and nephews.
Pauline Sloulin
Pauline Sloulin, age 94, of Yakima, passed away on February 21, 2010 at Chandler House in Yakima. She was born on May 23, 1915 in Williston, ND and was a businesswoman.
Mrs. Sloulin is survived by two daughters, Deanna Gooding of Sammamish, WA and Suzanne Cochrane of Orange, CA, and by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Douglas Eugene Train
Douglas Eugene Train, age 47, of Yakima, passed away on February 21, 2010 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 18, 1962 in San Pedro CA. He worked as a mechanic.
Mr. Train is survived by his wife Jennifer Train, his mother Patricia Train, father Stephen Train, son Kaidn Train and brother David Train, all of Yakima.
There will be no services at his request.
Leon Yearout
Leon Yearout, 89, of Yakima, passed away on February 20, 2010 in Yakima. He was born in Wapato, WA. He was a carpenter, and he then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, graduated from University of Washington, and taught in Issaquah WA, Torrance, CA and Palos Verdes, CA.
Mr. Yearout is survived by two brothers, Don Yearout and Leroy Yearout of Yakima; three sisters, Gaynelle LaComb, Patricia Stark and Eugenia Miller all of Yakima, and by two grandchildren.
There will be no services at his request.
Phyllis Elizabeth Clausing
Phyllis Elizabeth Clausing, 82, passed away at Apple Creek care facility on February 17, 2010. She was born in Zillah to Arthur and Mamie (Sturgess) Clausing, the last of 6 children. She grew up on the family farm in Zillah and continued to live there with her mother until she died, at which time Phyllis moved to the West Valley area until 2006 when she moved to a care facility. After graduating from Zillah High she went to work in the office at Stadelman Fruit Co. for many years. She moved on to do office work for United Builders, and Sinnes Electrical before retiring. The loves of her life were her palomino horses and German Sheppard dogs. She enjoyed riding and spent many vacations at ranches, including one in Australia, enjoying the life of a rancher.
Phyllis is survived by four nephews and five nieces: Douglas (Barbara) Clausing and Ted (Deborah) Clausing both of Yakima; Gary (Beverly) Newman of Zillah; and Gay (Alice) Newman of Hermiston; Janet Clark of Yakima; Loretta (Larry) Fendell of Zillah; Charlotte (Ed) Gassman and Peggy Clausing both of Everson and Linda Savelesky of Clarkston. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Gemella Clausing of Yakima and Violet Clausing of Everson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Leland, Leroy and baby Clausing and sisters Alice Clausing and Anna Laura Newman.
At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah.
Ruth Evelyn Febus
SUNNYSIDE - Ruth Evelyn Febus of Mabton passed away Feb. 18, 2010 in Sunnyside, WA.
She was born Jan. 2, 1937 in Hot Springs, SD and lived here in the Valley all of her life. She enjoyed gardening, watching birds and fishing with her husband, Earl Febus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Febus; mother and father, Edna and Bert Homer; sister, Betty Jo; and son, Randy.
She is survived by three sons, Charles Febus of Outlook, Rocky Febus of Sunnyside, and Clayton Febus of Mabton; five daughters, Jeanette Porter of Outlook, Rhonda Fultz of Mabton, Julie Espinoza of Mabton, Connie Graff of Prosser, and Janell Becker of Richland; four brothers, Doug Homer of Mabton, Kenneth Homer of Grandview, Bruce Homer of Sunnyside, and Freeman Homer of Moses Lake; two sisters, Edith Ramirez of Albany, OR and Fern Russell of Lynnwood, WA; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Visitation will begin at 9:30.
