Michael C. Strahsburg
Michael Carl Strahsburg, 59, of Yakima died Friday in Yakima.
He was born in Yakima and worked as a farm laborer and volunteer firefighter.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Michael Carl Strahsburg of Yakima; a daughter, Tonya McBride of Yakima; and seven grandchildren.
No services are planned. Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
Florence Trumbull
Florence Trumbull, age 89, passed away on July 2, 2010 in Union Gap, WA. She was born in Ellensburg, WA and was a homemaker and later worked as a medical receptionist.
Mrs. Trumbull is survived by two sons, James Trumbull of Yakima and Edward Trumbull of Issaquah, and by one grandchild. There will be no services at her request.
Homer Ellis Cone
Homer Ellis Cone was born in Toppenish, Washington to Beatrice (Matheny) and Ellis Sherman Cone on May 4, 1932. He passed away on July 17, 2010 at Willow Springs Care in Yakima.
He was raised in the Valley with two sisters, Juanita Cone and Marie Cone Scott, and two brothers, Edgar and Raymond Cone. He graduated from White Swan High School in 1950.
Homer served in the U.S. Marine Corps from March 1951 until April 1955 as an aviation mechanic on the USS Coral Sea and the USS Bennington during the Korean Conflict. He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Homer married Jean Pierce and raised her six children as his own. He has 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Homer worked as an auto mechanic and for Boise Cascade and PPG Industries in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Homer will be remembered as a hero, a loving father, and a godly example of strength and compassion.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 20, 2010.
Arvid K. Olson
Arvid Knute Olson, 63, of Selah died Monday August 30, at home.
Mr. Olson was born in Yakima and served in the Air Force. He was self-employed machinist and worked at the Chain and Gear Shop. He also worked as a welder at the Cowiche Dam, and owned Olson Honey Bee's.
Survivors include two daughters, Tonya Hinojosa and Stacie Call; three brothers, Eric Olson, Denny Olson and Richard Olson; and one grandchild.
Memorial services will be announced later. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
Roberta Graham
Roberta Monroe Graham passed away Aug. 28, 2010. She was born May 9, 1917 in Milton-Freewater, OR to Nathan and Libby Monroe. They settled in the Granger-Alfalfa area where they farmed. Roberta attended Alfalfa School and graduated from Granger High School in 1935.
In 1938 she married Bruce Graham in Yakima. Together they had three sons, Larry, Terry and Merle.
Mrs. Graham was a member of the Granger PTA, Sunnyside General Hospital Guild, AARP, Liberty Community Methodist Church and Retired Senior Volunteers Program where she worked with the older American Nutrition Program in Sunnyside. Later she supervised the same program in Union Gap.
Previously to that she was a cook for the Granger School District at the old Liberty School. She then was employed as a cook for Sunnyside General Hospital retiring in 1979.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce; three sons, Larry (Julie) of Selah, Terry (Gladys) of Sunnyside, and Merle(Linda) of Granger; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Floyd, Glen, Chester and Charles; two sisters, Nina Thomas and Eleanor Liska.
Roberta loved her kitchen and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. At her request there will be no services. Donations can be made to the Liberty Methodist Church.
Blanche L. Miller
In loving memory of our wife, mother, and grandmother, Blanche Lorraine Regeimbal Miller, who passed away August 27, 2010. Blanche was born July 17, 1936 in Yakima. She attended St. Paul’s Elementary School and St. Joseph’s Academy, graduating in 1954. She married David Lee Miller July 17, 1954.
Blanche was the third of three children born to Albert Zenon Regeimbal and Thelma Marie Weller Regeimbal. She worked at Sigman’s Bakery, Southgate Bakery and was the Variety Manager for Safeway. She enjoyed reading, cards, camping, cruising, cooking and looking after her family. She attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
In 2009, Blanche fulfilled a dream of going to Venice, Italy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Thelma; brothers, Robert Louis and Raymond Calvin Regeimbal; and her mother and father-in-law, Anna & Tom Fisher.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, David Miller of Yakima; two sons, Glenn (Anita) Miller of Mt. St. Helens, OR and Brian (Cheryl) Miller of Yakima; four daughters, Jeanette (Frank) Cardenas of Porterville, CA, Diane (Dan) Andreas of Kennewick, Camille (Tim) Coupal of Yakima and Lorraine (Andy) Barrows of Chadron, NE; twenty-four grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chris, Tara, Sammy, Ashley, Trenton, Angie, Will, Toby, Lily, Dara, Tyler, Darcy, Kylee, Drew, Kara, Dustin, Kyle, Adam, Sage, Chanteena, Kendra, Andrew and James; two foster grand-children, Ashley and Kassandra Peterson of Yakima; and a God-son, Isaiah Santay of Guatemala.
The family wishes to extend a special and heart-felt thank you to the management and personnel of Toppenish Nursing and Rehab Center.
Viewing with be held Thursday, Sept. 2 from 1 until 6:30 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima. Rosary Vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. immediately following the viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
