Dolphus William Brown

YAKIMA - Dolphus W. "Dee" Brown, our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ August 8, 2010 at Yakima Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 13, 1949 in Prospect, TN to Jim and Birdie (Shedd) Brown. Dee grew up in northern Alabama working in the cotton fields with his family. He had many good times fishing on the Tennessee River and squirrel hunting during his childhood. He had many stories to tell about all the fun he had with his brothers. Dee came to Yakima in 1971. He worked in the orchards until 1985. He drove a semi truck for several years then went to barber school and opened Brown's Barber Shop. He enjoyed barbering for a few years then passed the shop to his son Dave. He returned to truck driving until 2007 when he retired due to ill health.

Dee was saved at 23 years old and went into the ministry for several years. He loved his family and enjoyed all the many gatherings they had. He loved his children and was proud of each one of them. Dee/Dad will be truly missed, but we will see him again someday in Heaven. He was preceded in death by a son Daniel Brown. Survivors include his wife Shirley (as Dee would say "my old power pack"), sons Josh Brown, Dave and wife Emily Brown, daughter Raylene Brown, all of Yakima, Cindy Quenzer of St. Joe, AR, his grandchildren Victoria, Silas, Tayler, Cole, Noah Brown of Yakima, sister Frances Murphy of Lake Alfred, Florida, brothers Jimmy and David Brown of Athens, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Dr. Sharma and the YRMC ICU medical staff for all the hard work and care you gave Dee.

A celebration of Dee's life will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 14, at the Full Gospel Church, 2120 South 3rd Ave., Yakima.
