Cecilia Quezada

Cecilia Quezada, 50, of Sunnyside died Sunday in Richland.

She was born in Texas and formerly lived in Wapato and Yakima.

Survivors include her father, Roman Mirelez of Yakima; her mother, Rosa Mirelez of Sunnyside; four sons, Manuel Stevens and Juan Stevens, both of Yakima, Dario Carreno of Wapato and Ricardo Stevens of Grandview; four brothers, Joe Villanueva of Prosser, Jesse Mirelez and Daniel Mirelez of Yakima and Ray Mirelez of Sunnyside; two sisters, Zenaida Johnson of Kelso, Wash., and Melissa Mirelez of Yakima, and 17 grandchildren.

Private family services will be held. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.

Raul M. Sanchez

Raul M. Sanchez Jr., longtime resident of Granger, WA passed away on September 2nd at the age of 66. Raul was a devoted husband of 48 years to Alicia Sanchez. He is also survived by his children, John Raul Sanchez, Ana and Roy Horseman, Alex Sanchez, Richard and Jaime Sanchez, Crystal Sanchez, Laura Sanchez and John Crosby,(Clarissa and Richard Flores, Sonya Sanchez and Isaac Guillen) and Briton Soliz; siblings, Gilbert and Stella Lugo, Jesse Sanchez, Margie and Julio Martinez, Maria Jimenez; 22 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

After retiring as a truck driver for over 30 years, Raul loved to spend time outdoors, camping, enjoying family BBQ’s, visiting and spending time with friends and working on his beautiful yard and garden. He also enjoyed listening to Tejano and oldies music and reading western books.

Raul was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother, Jesusita Martinez; brother, Jose Lugo; uncle’s, Cristobal and frank Martinez; mother-in-law, Josefina Alegria; grandson, Dallas Sanchez and niece, Maria Castro. We will all miss you always and forever. Te amo

Visitation will be held from 9am to 5pm on Tuesday September 7, 2010 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Recitation of the rosary will be held at 6pm on Tuesday at Our lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 8, 2010 at 12:00pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger. Burial will follow in the Zillah Cemetery.

Quirina Madrigal

Quirina Madrigal, 69, of Mabton died Friday, September 3 at Sunnyside Community Hospital.

Mrs. Madrigal was born in Coalcoman, Michoacán, Mexico. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Leopoldo Reyes of Mabton; four sons, Sergio Madrigal of Outlook, Leopoldo Madrigal Jr. of Sunnyside, Juan Madrigal of Mabton and Miguel A. Madrigal of Grandview; four daughters, Maria Reyes of Mabton, Blanca Madrigal and Martha A. Sanchez, both of Sunnyside, and Maria Matilda Mendoza of California; 30 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, September 7 at the Sunnyside Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home, with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Garden.

Harriet E. Lang

Harriet E. Lang, 88, of Yakima died Thursday, September 2 at Highgate House.

Miss Lang worked in advertising for Frederick and Nelson in Seattle and as a trademark manager for Levi Strauss in San Francisco.

Survivors include two sisters, Joyce Stephens of Yakima and Carol Hyder of Orlando, Fla.

There will be no memorial services per Miss Lang's request. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lois Hart Nelson

Lois Hart Nelson, 94, of Yakima died Thursday, September 2.

Mrs. Nelson was born in Port Gamble, Wash. She had lived in Yakima since the mid-1970s.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Nelson Jr. of West Linn, Ore.; a daughter, Barbara Estabrook of Gardiner, Maine; a brother, Harrison J. Hart Jr. of California; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be no services per Mrs. Nelson's request. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Linda L. Shewmaker

Linda L. Shewmaker, age 59, passed away on September 1, 2010 in Yakima. She was born in Yakima on February 16, 1951 to Donald C. and Opal (McDougal) Miller. She worked for Yakima Valley OIC for twelve years, owned Linda’s Coffee Cabin for eight years, and worked for Legal Couriers in Yakima.

She is survived by her daughter Tracy Sampson of Yakima; brother Ronald Miller of Arizona, boyfriend Jeff Glessner of Yakima and by three grandchildren.

A celebration of her life is being planned at a later date.

Heather Aslena Stout

Heather Aslena Stout, age 28, passed away on August 30, 2010 in Snohomish, Washington. She was born in Yakima on April 9, 1982 to Max V. and Patricia A. (Powell) Stout. She graduated from East Valley High School and attended Yakima Valley Community College.

She is survived by her mother Patricia Ann Urvina of Modesto, CA: stepfather Mario Urvina of Yakima; father Max Stout of Troy, NY; brother Jeremy Stout of Pasco, WA; stepbrother Brandon Urvina; grandmother Hazel Powell and step-grandmother Lora Urvina.

A celebration of her life will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. on September 18, 2010 at The Terrace Heights LDS Church in Yakima.

Myrla Mae Johnson

Myrla Mae Johnson, age 92, passed away on August 31, 2010 at Living Care Retirement Center in Yakima, Washington.

She was born on October 7, 1917 in Outlook, Washington to Edwin and Nettie (Hobson) Marr. She attended schools in Outlook and was a homemaker and mother. She loved gardening and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters Joyce (Danny) Mullens of Rigby, ID, Sharon “Shay” (Jon) Ramsay of Naches, WA, Pauline (Virgil) Kirkendall of Middlebury Center, PA, Janice Johnson of Mesa, AZ and Marlene (Greg) Davis of San Tan Valley, AZ; sister-in-law Beulah Marr of Walla Walla, WA; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold M. Johnson, son Doyle Gary Johnson and granddaughter Linda Marie Johnson.

Viewing will be from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Valley Hills Funeral Home Yakima. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Open Bible Christian Center, 2701 West Lincoln Avenue, with burial to follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
