Gladys deLagasse
Our dearly loved Gram, at the age of 91, died peacefully in her sleep on October 12, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home where she had been a resident for many years. Gladys was born in Big Falls Minnesota on February 17, 1915, to Howard and Mary Lacey and spent much of her childhood in Duluth Minnesota. Her family later moved to Yakima where she attended Yakima High School and graduated in the class of 1933. She was married to her beloved husband Andrew J. deLagasse on July 19, 1949 and together they created a loving home for their daughter, Roberta.
Gladys was self employed as a seamstress for most of her life and worked with many local interior decorators over the years. She always enjoyed making beautiful things and brought her creativity and enthusiasm to every job. Gladys & Andrew were avid bowlers, and they often made it into the newspaper for their Mixed Doubles scores at Min-Da-Lanes. She loved gardening and beautiful flowers, she was an expert cook and enjoyed canning, and she adored every pet or animal that came into her life. Her greatest joy came from her daughter, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.

Ross Michael Tobia
Ross Michael Tobia was born on February 23, 1982 in Yakima, Washington and passed away on October 5, 2006 at HarbRoss Michael Tobia was born on February 23, 1982 in Yakima, Washington and passed away on October 5, 2006 at Harborview Medical Center as a result of a tragic motorcycle accident on I-5 in Seattle. Our son was such a loving young man that even in death he gave by saving many lives through organ donation.
He was born and raised in the Yakima Valley but was true to being a Selah boy and was very proud of it. Ross graduated from Selah High School in 2001 but attended Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, Washington his junior year. He graduated from YVCC in 2003 and was at the time of his death almost done with a four year degree from Colorado Technical Institute.
“Little Old Man, Ross the Boss, Roscoe Tanner.” Ross was truly loved by everyone who knew him. He made such an impact on all the lives he touched. He was full of energy as a young boy and constantly loved life to the fullest. He was in love with anything that moved, from bicycles to motorcycles, and all animals in between. Ross especially loved going to the ocean with his brothers and sister when he was young. He looked up to brother James especially and was constantly in his shadow when they were young. From an early age Ross was concerned about caring for others, especially his brothers and family. He always had a hug to share.
Those who knew him remember him as a laid-back, shy, quiet guy who would do anything for his friends and family in time of need. He was more than “just a friend” to his fellow peers. He was a BROTHER, someone to lean on in time of need, a knowledge giver to anyone who needed advice, and someone to look up to because he was so successful in everything he did. Ross was so generous, he would lend a helping hand to anyone, anytime or anywhere.
In 1999 Ross went on a mission trip to Managua, Nicaragua, and was forever changed by his experience. He fell in love with Mexican food and was sure to scope out all the Mexican taco trucks upon moving to Seattle. He first worked for Fred Meyer in Lynwood and, until his death, Ross worked for Chemdry of Seattle and went to school part-time.
Ross moved to Seattle following the love of his life, Jill Mitchell. His passions were his family, his love for music and being with friends. Everyone he met fell in love with him and he had a tremendous impact on everyone who knew him. He made lots of great friends and cared a lot about them. We all loved Ross and he will be greatly missed, with a great void in our lives, until we meet again on that grand day which we are all looking forward to.
Ross is survived by: his parents (mother) Sandy and Tony Perez of Moxee and and (Father) Mike and Tracy Tobia of Yakima; the love of his life, Jill Mitchell and their dog Harley; his brothers, Tony Perez of Moxee, Jacob Perez of Moxee, and James (Rebecca) Perez and children Isaiah, Isaac, Joshua of Granger; his loving sisters, Nicole (Javier) Zavala of Toppenish and son Krystian (Jellybean), Lynn Gaglaino and children Caleb and Gracelynn, Stephanie Cockerum and children Joseph and Angela; and grandparents, John and Billie Jean Evers, Mary Ann Tobia and Ted Holter.
He is also survived by his special friends: Broc, Aaron Arndt; Chad O’Bara; Mike Turner; Victor Lehman; Marty Yates; Jaime Jones, Andrew Bales, David Niebuhr, Nick Kingston, Mike Williams, Kyle Helms, Luke Patterson, Evan Macquire, and Joel Saxton. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Benny Tobia, Harold Jackson and Dolly Holter.
