Jose Valencia
Jose Valencia, 60, of Sunnyside, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 in Yakima. Jose was born in Michoacan, Mexico and worked as a farm laborer.
He is survived by his wife, Amporo Valencia of Sunnyside, two sons, Jose Jr. and Elizer, both of Sunnyside; and four daughters, Adriana and Angelica, both of Sunnyside and Mary and Griselda, both of Yakima.
Viewing will be Monday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Sunnyside Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will follow in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
Anne Louise Palmer
ZILLAH - Anne Louise Palmer was born in Mt. Vernon on March 29, 1943 to Oliver and Henrietta Pearson. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 15, 2008 at home following a long battle with cancer, with her husband and Betty (friend and care-giver) by her side.
In 1980 Anne, her husband Charles, and son Darrin moved to Zillah, WA. Over the years she helped her community by serving on many different boards; Providence Hospital Board, Toppenish Hospital Board, SEED, former President of Zillah Chamber of Commerce, and New Vision YCDA. In March, Anne was honored by New Vision for her "outstanding contributions to local economic development in Yakima County and for her 21 years of dedicated service as a board member," just to name a few.
Anne Palmer is survived by her husband; Charles R. Palmer of 33 years, residing in their home in Zillah, WA, son; Darrin Palmer of Lynwood, son and daughter in law; Charles L & Jeanette Palmer of Bellingham, daughter and son in law; Sandy and Jeff McClain of Elma, one granddaughter; Corrissa McClain Beerbower, four grandsons; Ryan and JJ Palmer, Caleb and Joshua McClain, one great granddaughter; Taya Beerbower, aunt; Corrine Purves of Yakima, cousins in Washington, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Sweden, and extended family; Mike & Diane Stewart and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister.
There will be a graveside service Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, WA. A memorial service will be held at Central Lutheran Church in Yakima, WA on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.

Byrde Mae Gallegos
Byrde Mae Gallegos, 68 of Yakima passed away Friday, September 12, 2008 at Snohomish, WA. Byrde was a home maker.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard Gallegos, Sr. of Yakima; a son, Bernard Gallegos, Jr. of Yakima; a daughter, Carmen Gallegos of Sumner, WA; two brothers, Bob Coty of Fromberg, MT and Rick Coty of McMinville, OR; five sisters, Shirley Peterson of Spokane, Frances Darling of Everett, Betty Whitney, Effie Sharer and Evelyn Wallace, all of McMinville, OR; and one grandchild.
At her request, no services will be held.
Paul Joseph Richey
Paul Joseph Richey, 74 of Yakima, died Monday, September 15, 2008 at Parkside Nursing Care Center in Union Gap.
Paul served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. He worked as an automobile salesman.
He is survived by four sons, Paul of Mabton, Pete of Yakima, John of Seattle and William of Yakima; three daughters, Martha Trayan of Granger, Theodosia Richey of Yakima and Ivel Lee Lilley of Grandview; a brother, lloyd Royal Richey of Malone, NY; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services with military honor guard will be held Thursday, Sept. 18 at 1:00 p.m. at 1404 S. 13th St., Sunnyside.
Dorothy Jean Young
TOPPENISH - Dorothy Jean Young, 61, of Toppenish, WA went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, September 13, 2008. Dorothy was born Feb. 18, 1947 to Dick and Rubye Freeman in Huntington Park, CA.
Dorothy worked at the Mabton Smoke Shop for the past 25 years until the time of her death. Working there, she met and made many wonderful friends including her good friend and companion, Carlos Candaneda. Mom loved cooking and baking and we will forever miss her famous Christmas fudge and peanut brittle. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and Bar-B-Q's of which everyone was welcome at her table.
Dorothy is survived by her three daughters: Jamie Young Hogue (George) and Mary Jo Young (Patrick) of White Swan and Lori Swan of Yakima, grandchildren: Jessica and Dillon Swan of Yakima and Kyson Young of Moxee, father of her daughters, Joseph Young, one sister, Virginia Sears of Camano Island, WA, three brothers: Harry (Syd) of Texas, Paul (Betty) of California, and Dave (Shelley) of Oregon, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Dorothy was "Mom" to many that adopted her and she loved them dearly.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Calvary Bible Church located in Toppenish, WA at 105 Goldendale Ave. There will be no burial at the request of our Mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in care of Valley Hills Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Valley Hills Funeral Home.
Ellis Vaughn Stewart
Ellis Vaughn Stewart, 66 of Zillah passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Yakima.
Ellis lived in the Zillah area most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a Merchant Seaman.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Bounds of Zillah, three brothers, Dave Stewart of Zillah, Bill Stewart of Selah and Lynn Stewart of Arizona; and a sister, Sue Gust of Zillah.
Cremation arranngements were entrusted to Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.
Randy Martin Bryant
Randy Martin Bryant, 54, of Union Gap died Friday, September 12, 2008 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Bryant was born in Yakima and also lived in Eugene, Ore. He worked as a lab technician for Haas Corp.
Survivors include his mother, Johanna Bryant of Union Gap; two brothers, Roger Bryant of Lacey, Wash., and Doug Bryant of Yakima; and a sister, Kathy Freeborn of Selah.
Funeral services are pending.
Valley Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lucille Williams
Lucille Williams, 86, of Yakima died Friday, September 12, 2008 at Crescent Healthcare.
Mrs. Williams was born in Yellville, Ark. She worked as a fruit packer, drapery seamstress and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Everett Williams of Yakima; a daughter, Geralene Sires of Yakima; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 16 at Tahoma Cemetery.
Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
