Ronald Voris
Ronald Voris, 51, of Yakima, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Ronald was born Sept. 5, 1957 in Yakima to Kenneth and Dolores Voris. He was raised and educated in Yakima, graduating from West Valley High School and J.M. Perry Technical Institute. Ron worked for U & I Sugar in Moses Lake, drove truck, worked for Laymen’s Logging and for CDR Distributing.
Ron’s nicknames included 3-Speed, Stretch and Slim. He loved the mountains, 4-wheeling, and gold prospecting. His ’75 Dodge Power Wagon was a prized possession and as a younger man, he enjoyed scuba diving.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly of Yakima; a son, David of Yakima; three daughters, Staci, Elizabeth and Rebecca Voris, all of Yakima; and four brothers, Randy Heath of Gresham, OR, Richard Voris of Naches, Jeff Voris of Union Gap and Greg Voris of Marysville, WA.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1 until 5 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima. Funeral Services will be held Monday. Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. at the Ahtanum Valley Assembly of God Church, 7803 Ahtanum Road. Burial will follow in West Hills Memorial Park.
John Alois Staudinger, Jr.
ZILLAH - John Alois Staudinger, Jr., 70, died Sept. 8, 2008 at his home in Zillah, Washington after a short battle with cancer. He was born June 16, 1938 in Yakima, WA and graduated from Wapato High School in 1956. John worked in the hop industry for 33 years retiring from John I. Haas in 2000.
John loved to keep busy and when he wasn't working on a project, he'd relax by playing tennis or playing his accordian. He took great joy in his family as well as his family at New Hope Community Church. He was a caring and loving husband, father and brother and we will all miss him dearly.
John is survived by his wife, Sarah; his son, Louie (Mercedes) Staudinger of Vancouver, WA; daughters, Lori (Jeff) Brady of Zillah and Linda(Terry) Ford of Yakima; his brothers, Jerry (Barbara) Staudinger and Kari (Marilyn) Staudinger; granddaughters, Dana and Paige Brady and a grandson, Spencer Staudinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Minnie Staudinger.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima.
Redgie Franklin Allemand
Redgie Franklin Allemand, 61, passed away on September 8, 2008 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born in Ellensburg, Washington on June 5, 1947 to Frank and Ashley Allemand. Mr. Allemand worked as a timber faller.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Rothrock of Yakima; two brothers, Frank Allemand and Ricky Allemand both of Ellensburg; three sisters, Rose Bare, Rainell Martinez and Rebecca Morris all of Ellensburg, and by two grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of his life at 12:00 noon on Sunday September 14, 2008 at the home of Rebecca Morris.
Esteban E. Pena
Esteban E. Pena, 78 of Sunnyside, passed away Monday, September 8, 2008 at home.
Esteban was born In Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was a baker in Sunnyside for many years.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Teusday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m until 6 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sunnyside with burial to follow in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
Juan Ramos
Juan Ramos, 16, of Sunnyside passed away Friday, September 5, 2008 in Sunnyside.
Juan was born in Prosser and was a student at Sunnyside High School.
He is survived by hsi parents, Carmon and Eduardo Ramos of Sunnyside; 2 brothers, Manuel and Joe and three sisters, Maria Delores, Maria Elena and Ana Ramos, all of Sunnyside.
Viewing will be Thursday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sunnyside on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008. Christopher Lester LaPierre
Christopher Lester LaPierre, 50, of Granger passed awawy Sunday, September 7, 2008 in Toppenish.
Christopher was born in Yakima May 26, 1958. He graduated from Granger High Scvhool, worked as a laborer at a wildlife refuge and was a member of the Catholic Church.
He is survived by two brothers, Robert LaPierre and Steven LaPierre, both of Granger; and two sisters, Shelly LaPierre-McAllister of Wapato and Charlotte LaPierre of Sunnyside.
Private burial will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Yakima.
Eddie L. Hoyt
UNION GAP - Eddie Hoyt, age 82, of Union Gap, WA passed away at home September 5, 2008. Eddie was born in Toppenish, WA to George and Lula Hoyt on October 20, 1925.
He was raised and educated in Toppenish. He was a member of Local #302. Eddie was a heavy equipment operator and leveled land around the Valley. He also helped work on the construction of I-82. Before that, he logged for Fred Webb and other logging companies. Having been raised around horses, horses were his greatest love. He rode all his life until his health prevented him from riding. Eddie was a saddle bronc rider and rode in many rodeos. Eddie is survived by his wife Betty, of 55 years, two sons, Randy of Union Gap and Jimmie of Anchorage, Alaska, as well as one brother Ervy Hoyt of Union Gap and two loving nieces, Sharon and Janet Chase of Yakima, and other nieces and nephews and many long time friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George and Vivian Hoyt and his dear sister Irene Chase. The family is grateful for the care provided by his caregivers and by Memorial Hospital Hospice. In honor of his request no funeral services will be held.
James Melvin Lowry
James Melvin Lowry, 93, of Yakima passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at home.
James was born December 9, 1914 in Blue Mounds, KS. He lived in Yakima for 14 years.
He is survived by his sister, Edith Bishop of Spokane.
No formal services will be held.
