Rodney Partlow

Rodney Partlow, age 40, is soaring with the angels and visiting with his family. He passed away on March 14, 2009, surrounded by his family. Rod had one true love of his life and that is his son Brandon Partlow. His contagious laugh and twinkling blue eyes will be missed by so many. He will always be remembered as the loving dad, little brother, kind son and great buddy.

Rod was born in Yakima on January 22nd, 1969. He was raised and still lived in Selah, Washington. He attended school there and graduated from Selah High School in 1987. There was never a dull moment in Rodney’s life, growing up with his brothers, Larry and Steve. He also loved to make people laugh! Rod enjoyed giving his mom and brothers a hard time but he also took his lumps being the youngest of three boys! There’s a funny story about him hanging from the roof of the two-story family home, and then mom came home!

The best day of Rodney’s life was the day Brandon was born. One of Rod’s favorite things to do was watching Brandon play basketball. He loved to brag about his awesome boy!

Rodney is preceded in death by his step-father Glenn Mitchell, dad David Partlow, nephew Derick Partlow and Grandparents Melvin and Vava Partlow. We know they are so excited to see him now!

Rodney is survived by his son Brandon Partlow, mother Sue Partlow, brothers Steve Partlow amd wife Sherri, Larry Partlow, Grandparents John and Mary Baker, Uncles Darrell and Dennis (Claudia) Baker. He has several nieces and nephews who will also miss him greatly.

Evelyn D. Shields

SUNNYSIDE - Evelyn D. Shields, 91, of Toppenish, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Sunnyside.

Before retirement, Evelyn had worked at J.C. Penny's in Toppenish for over 30 years. She made many friends through her years in Toppenish. Anyone who met her was touched by her smile, personality, and enthusiasm for life. When Evelyn was not at work, her yard and flowers absorbed her energy, and she was awarded yard of month. When forced indoors, her tropical fish kept her busy. She had a great love for cats, enjoyed family vacations to the Oregon coast, and loved trout fishing on the Tieton River. Evelyn was a self-taught harmonica player and could play a great 'On Top of Old Smokey'. She will be deeply missed by her family and never forgotten.

Thank you to the staff of Hillcrest Manor for the great job they did helping Evelyn through her final years.

Evelyn is survived by one son; Rick and wife Leslie Shields, granddaughters; Jenny (Kyle) Hecker and Riley Hecker, and one brother; Noland (Darlene) Teal.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Shields and one son, John David Shields.

Visitation will be at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah on Thursday, from 10 AM to 7 PM. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Zillah Cemetery.

Jackie Edward Jamison

Jackie Edward Jamison, 85, passed away March 11, 2009 at home in the company of his loving wife and their two daughters.

Jack was born March 31, 1923 in Bloomfield, Indiana to Ray and Edna Jamison. His family moved to Bickelton, Washington in 1926, and then to Grandview, Washington in 1928.

Jack enlisted in the United States Army in the spring of 1943. Although he received his high school diploma from Grandview High School, he shipped off to boot camp in El Paso, TX before the end of his senior year. After graduating from the Medical Corp in Abilene, TX, he was transferred to Spokane, WA and trained to be a pack mule handler. During WWII, he was deployed to India, China, and Burma, where he handled the pack mules that delivered supplies to allied forces in mainland China via the Burma Road.

After WWII, Jack returned to Grandview, where he married Melavee (Jones) on January 20, 1947. Jack and Melavee had a small farm, and Jack also worked at a cold storage warehouse. In 1948, Jack went to work for R.H. Smith Distributing, where he worked until he retired in 1985.

Jack enjoyed sports, duck hunting, having coffee with his buddies at the 4-10 Café in Grandview, and visiting with family, friends, and strangers who quickly became new friends. He was a very friendly, outgoing, fun-loving man who loved to laugh and who enjoyed life to the fullest. Jack loved the Seahawks, and he always had advice that he wanted to give to Seahawks coach Mike “Holgrum”.

Jack was a devoted family man; he was a constant source of love and support for his wife, daughters, his daughters’ husbands, and his four grandchildren. Both he and Mel went to almost every single one of their grandchildren’s sporting events, regardless of whether that meant sitting through baseball, soccer, and softball games in 100°+ heat, or bundling up for sub-freezing football games. It’s no wonder that he and Mel particularly enjoyed the basketball and volleyball games.

Jack is survived by his wife, Melavee, daughter Debbie Hinckley and her husband Chuck, daughter Sabrena Carey and her husband Mike, grandson Tyler Hinckley and his fiancée Katie Orgill, grandson Chad Carey, granddaughter Lindsey Hinckley and her fiancé Scott Schield, and granddaughter Haley Carey.

Jack’s great sense of humor and love for his family will be greatly missed. His family believes that he was the greatest husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather that anyone could ever have. His family would like to thank all of the employees at Arlington House and Hospice who helped and cared for him during his final years.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, or any other non-profit organization dedicated to discovering a cure for (CBD) Parkinson’s Disease.

Mary Jeanine Rullman

Mary Jeanine Rullman, surrounded by loving family, met Our Lord and reunited with loved ones on Friday, March 6, 2009 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Jeanine was born to William A. and Louise (Marcotte) Hahn in Lead So. Dakota on January 1, 1933 - a New Year baby! She was the oldest of four children.

She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, in Wallace Idaho, in 1950. It was in Wallace that Jeanine met the love of her life, Don Rullman. They were married at St. Alphonsus Church on January 6, 1951 and recently celebrated 58 years of love and commitment. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Sisters of Providence Hospital before starting her family. Jeanine and Don had the first four - Tim, Donny, Janet and Mark - of their seven children in Wallace before moving to Wenatchee, WA in 1956. Daughter, Teresa, was born in Wenatchee and the family of seven moved to Yakima in 1961. The fourth son, William Adam, and third daughter, Jody, were both born at St. Elizabeth's in Yakima.

Jeanine started work at Snokist Cannery in 1962. What first started as a seasonal job peeling, sorting and sizing, developed into a full-time position as a label machine operator. She retired in 1998 after 36 years at Snokist. After those years of physical labor, Jeanine decided to use her excellent math skills and became a tax preparer for H&R; Block. She spent the past eight years there, working until Feb. 26 when she became ill and entered the hospital.

Jeanine was a faithful and active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, having served on the funeral committee the past few years. She had a particular love for Our Lady and the rosary. Jeanine and Don traveled to Europe in 1999 visiting Medjugorje, Rome, Assisi, and were within arms reach of Pope John Paul II as he entered Vatican Square.

Besides being a good cook, Jeanine enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowerbeds. Each year she had a large vegetable garden in her back yard and she enjoyed harvesting and canning its produce as well as the local peaches, pears and cherries. Jeanine was an avid reader and had a large library of books she had collected over the years. She also liked to play keno and slot machines at various casinos. In fact, she and Don were planning a trip to Reno in the spring.

Jeanine enjoyed following her children's and grandchildren's activities. She would often be seen in the stands or in her lawn chair cheering, as well as expressing her opinion to the umpire. Jeanine often stated that all her grandchildren were "good looking." She was extremely proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. "Gram" was always available to support, encourage and advise the grandkids.

Jeanine was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Donny. Survivors include her loving husband, Don, her children Janet (Rich) Rouleau, Teresa (Scott) Carlson, and Adam all of Yakima, Jody (Dave) Colglazier of Tacoma, Mark of Newport OR, and Tim of Spokane, her daughter-in-law Terri Rullman of W. Richland, thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, her brother Bill of Pinehurst ID, and her sisters Pat Rishew of Mullan ID, and Margie (Glen) Becker of Reno NV, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jeanine was well attended while in the hospital by Dr. Angulo, the staff of the 2nd and 5th floors, hospice, and a special angel Stacey Philips.

Viewing will be held Monday 1 to 7 followed by a rosary and vigil service at Valley Hills Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospice, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the donor's choice of charities.
