Smathers, Cassandra Ann

Arlington, WA - Cassandra Ann Smathers, of Tulalip, Wash., passed away suddenly June 14, 2007, in Arlington, Wash.

She was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Seattle, Wash.

She is survived by children, Fred Howard Smathers, Jr. (Nancy), Tamra Ann Johnston (Gary), and Tina Marie Wagner (Patrick); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Casey is also survived by brothers and sisters, John Burtis, Mildred Nazworthy, Debura Strubble, Denice Wilson, Jerry Carter, Delano Carter, Holly Gregory, Taral Blake, Garin Hedberg, JoAnn Morris, Stacy Hillis and Todd Hillis; and dart partner and best friend, Terry Tar. She helped raise sister, Holly and grandson, Justin.

She is preceded in death by father, Floyd Burtis; mother, Joan Hedberg; and adopted father, Glenn Carter.

Cassandra was the co-owner for 29 years of Marysville Cemetery, owned and operated Conway Tavern and later worked for the Tulalip Tribes Inc. She enjoyed darts, sewing and cooking.

A time for visitation was held from 9 - 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville. A Graveside Service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Marysville Cemetery. A reception immediately followed the service at the Kenny Moses Building, Tulalip.

Contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to assist the family with expenses.

Haynes, Sheryl Ann

Arlington, WA - Sheryl Ann Haynes, 51, of Stanwood, Wash., surrounded by her family and friends and many prayers, passed away peacefully June 17, 2007, due to the illness of Overian Cancer.

Sheryl was born May 27, 1956.

She was a homemaker and attended Everett Community College to be come an Accountant.

She loved reading and enjoyed doing hobby crafts. She loved spending time with family and friends; she was a caring, loving, thoughtful person, a true heart of gold.

Survivors include her loving boyfriend of 13 years, Mike Scoles, of Stanwood, Wash.; son, Jason Bakko, of Monroe, Wash.; daughter, Amanda Wheeler, of Everett, Wash.; sister, Rhonda Haynes; brother, Mark Haynes; sister-in-law, Traci Haynes, all of Everett; and former husband, Bill Bakko, of Arlington, Wash.; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins; and grandchildren, Samantha Bakko, Jamie Wheeler, Cassen, Adcock, Madalene and Stenger.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rodney and Jean Haynes; and her uncle, Earl Bassford.

She is loved very much by us all and will be greatly missed.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., June 30, 2007, at her home in Stanwood.

A special word of thanks to Uncle Clyde, who stayed by her side, and Mom Glaine Olson and her daughter, Barb Bodin, who took care of her after surgery.

Haralson, Esther Sophie

Arlington, WA - Esther Sophie Haralson, 95, of Stanwood, Wash., passed away, Thursday, June 14, 2007 in Everett, Wash.

She was born Feb. 20, 1912, in Mt. Vernon, Wash., to Andrew and Signa (Odsten) Eliason. Esther loved her garden her family and her Lord.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann White (Richard), of California; sisters, Anna Dawson (Ken), of Bellingham, Wash., and Margaret Garland (George), of Gig Harbor, Wash.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Carl Leaf and Clayton Haralson; and her son, Robert Bob Henry Leaf.

A memorial Service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home. Burial will be at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynwood, Wash.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or The Warm Beach Senior Community. Arrangements are by Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home.

Christensen, Donald Scott

Arlington, WA - Scott Christensen, 49, of Arlington, Wash., passed away June 21, 2007.

He was born March 15, 1958, to Don and Shirley Christensen and resided in the Arlington area his whole life.

He graduated from Arlington High School in 1976 and had worked for Safeway in Arlington as the Dairy Manager for the past 30 years.

Scott was a dedicated, honest, hardworking, fun-loving, kind soul. He was so charming, friendly, outgoing and everybody loved him.

He spent a lifetime of fishing his secret holes with family and very special friends. Scott loved to fish.

He loved being outdoors, gardening, hiking, camping, hunting, overnight float trips on the Stilly and was a great camp cook.

He is survived by his wife, Barb (Blacker); two sons, Cole and Kyle at home; daughters, Janaih Merriweather, Amanda Christensen, Brittiney Eoff; granddaughter Kamryn.

He also leaves his loving mother, Shirley Christensen (Takio), his beloved sister Conni (Don) Wiersma, and loyal brother Dave (Karen) Christensen and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don Christensen, and infant son, Joshua Christensen.

Scott will be deeply missed by all who knew him, as he was a man of integrity and left a lasting impression on his family and friends and touched many lives.

There will be a celebration of his life on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Darrington Community Center. Everyone is welcome.

Herbers, Catherine Tuesday, 10 Jul 2007

Federal Way, WA - Federal Way resident Catherine Elizabeth Herbers, 83, passed away peacefully July 10, 2007.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Aloysius W. Herbers Jr.; daughters Rebecca Herbers and Deborah Klein (Donald); son James Herbers (Magdalena); grandchildren Carl and David Klein; sister Betty Justice; her faithful friends Ruger and Jackie Dee. Clark, Patricia Kay Thursday, 05 Jul 2007

Federal Way, WA - Patricia Kay (Burton) Clark died July 5, 2007, at age 62. She was born Dec. 21, 1944. She is survived by her mother, two sons, a sister, two brothers and four grandchildren. Pat graduated from Federal Way High School in 1964. She worked as a real estate agent in the Buckley area for 23 years. She recently made Orting her home.
