CLYDE EDWARD ISAACS

Clyde Edward Isaacs of Wenatchee passed away Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at 9:30 p.m., after an eight-month battle with cancer. Born Jan. 1, 1919, in Hitchens, Ky., Clyde was the oldest of seven children. He worked the railroad lines in the early and mid-1930s, which brought him to the very young Wenatchee Valley. Over the next several years he went back and forth. Clyde met and married icon Mary Lucinda Sagraves of Ashland, Ky., in February of 1942. They settled in Wenatchee for good after the end of World War II, and the birth of their daughter, Alice Kay. Clyde was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, participating in the air strike on Normandy. He was award the Medal of Honor, the Purple Heart and several Merit Awards. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, trips to Reno and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and his wife, Mary, who passed away in 1989. He is survived by two brothers, James of Wenatchee and Frank of Anacortes; two children, Alice Kay of Seattle and Clyde Ronald of Wenatchee; two granddaughters, Jeanmarie and Tiffany of Seattle; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda, Kyle and Joshua of Seattle. A memorial service will be held at the Wenatchee Cemetery icon Mausoleum Friday, June 19, at 4 p.m. A gathering will be held directly after the service at a location to be announced. The remains will be inurned with his wife, Mary. Any memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Isaac's name and condolences can be sent in care of the family to 5922 17th Ave. S., Seattle, Wash. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.

DAVID 'DAVE' LESLIE
Chesaw
David "Dave" Leslie, age 81, of Chesaw, died on Friday, June 12, 1998, at the North Valley Hospital in Tonasket. He was born icon on Dec. 4, 1916, in Molson to parents John and Mary Leslie. Dave grew up and attended school near Chesaw, finishing at the Lone Star School. He worked at ranching and various threshing crews in the area. On June 15, 1941, he married icon Marjorie Mack in Oroville. Dave and his wife then purchased a ranch at Chesaw and operated it all their married icon life. He was an original member of the Chesaw Rodeo Association and participated yearly in making the 4th of July Rodeo happen. Dave enjoyed ranching and whether feeling good or not he could be seen riding his horse after cows and trailing his dogs. His wife, Marjorie, preceded him in death in 1987. Dave was a member of the Cattlemen's Association. He is survived by one son, Steve and his wife Carol of Chesaw; three grandchildren, Pam Leslie of Tonasket and Amber and Clint Leslie, both of Oroville; and three stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, six brothers and one sister. Bergh Funeral Service, Oroville, is in charge of arrangements.

KEITH F. MILLS
Wenatchee
Keith F. Mills, who died June 13, 1998, was also survived by two brothers, George Mills of East Wenatchee and Roy Mills of Wilson Creek; and one sister, Doris Cannon of Des Moines. Their names were omitted from the obituary published Wednesday.

DORIS IRENE (SPENCE) WOLFE
Grandview
Doris Irene (Spence) Wolfe, 81, Grandview, died June 4, 1998, at the Sunnyside Community Hospital from cancer. She was born icon on Dyer Hill, near Brewster, on Sept. 3, 1916, to Marcus de Lafayette Spence and Addie (Ervin) Spence. She was raised in the Okanogan area and worked in the agricultural and fruit industries. She moved to Grandview in the late '60s. Doris was an avid quilter, seamstress and gardener. She loved the out-of-doors, traveling and following the history and events of Okanogan County. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Meinhart, son-in-law Walt Meinhart and granddaughter Amanda Meinhart of Tualatin, Ore; grandsons, Tim Meinhart of North Hollywood, Calif., and Ken Meinhart of Cheney; sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Earl Shenyer of Grandview; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Kurt Borden of Orcas Island; brother and sister-in-law Bud and Pat Spence of Okanogan; brothers-in-law Jim Johnson of Omak, and Al Overholt of Pasco; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joe Spence; sisters, Vera Johnson and Jean Overholt; and a niece, Kathy (Shenyer) Dadisman.

GLADYS BOX BURTON
Wenatchee
Gladys Box Burton, 94, a lifelong resident of North Central Washington, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 1, 1998 in Colonial Vista Convalescent Center. She was born icon Aug. 15, 1904 to W.L. and Bertha (Maxwell) Box in Mold, Douglas County, and in 1907 moved with her parents to Coulee City, where she attended school. Following graduation from Coulee City High School, she attended the three teachers colleges in Washington along with the University of Washington. On Nov. 27, 1929 she married icon Finis L. "Sandy" Burton in Wenatchee and they spent 67 years of their lives together until his death in 1996. Gladys taught school for many years in the Wenatchee School District until retiring in the early 1960s. The Burtons loved to travel and spend their winters in Arizona and Hawaii. At one time they made a grand tour of Europe and the British Isles. Gladys was a 60-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Wenatchee and had been president of the United Methodist Women and chairperson in several of the church circles. She served on the YU and A Board for six years, a volunteer at the hospital with Sally Branson's Pink Ladies and was a member of the Douglas and Chelan County Retired Teachers Assn. Survivors include two nieces, Mary Goodwin of East Wenatchee and Nina Varney of Puyallup. Eight nephews, Glen Craig of East Wenatchee, Harold Craig of Ephrata, Claude Box of Ferndale, Gene Craig, Duane Box, Bob Box, Gary Box and Ben Box, all of the Seattle area. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and two brothers. A service of commemoration for Gladys Box Burton will be conducted Saturday morning, Dec. 5, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Sanford Brown officiating. The casket will remain closed during service. Service will conclude at the church. Private interment icon will follow in the Wenatchee City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Memorials may be made in her name to Wenatchee First United Methodist Church or the charity of choice. Jones and Jones Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

CYNTHIA "CINDY" COLLINS
Wenatchee
Cynthia "Cindy" K. Collins, 46 of Wenatchee, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born icon April 1, 1952 in Wenatchee to Darrell E. and Maella (Huber) Gouldin. Cindy was a 1970 graduate of Wenatchee High School and has been a lifelong resident of the area. Cindy and Lawrence Willmorth were married icon Sept. 17, 1970. She was later married icon to Troy A. Collins. She had been employed as an administrative assistant-case manager for about 16 years with the Chelan County Probation Department. Cindy enjoyed collecting such things as Betty Boop memorabilia and brass items. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and her computer. She was an animal lover. She is survived by her son Shawn Willmorth of Moses Lake; her daughter Tiffany K. Raved of Wenatchee; her grandchildren, Catlin Willmorth of Leavenworth, Rhiannon Willmorth of Moses Lake, Ashley Raved of Wenatchee; her mother Maella Gouldin of Wenatchee; her sisters Connie Martin of Wenatchee, Linda Sund of Seattle, Pam Putman of Wenatchee; her brothers Darrel J. Gouldin of Monitor, James Gouldin of Wenatchee and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her father Darrell E. Gouldin, her husband, Lawrence Willmorth in 1983 and an infant sister, Marcia Gouldin. Memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998 at Betts Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer society. Services are under the care of Betts Funeral Service, 662-1561.

GILBERT L. LESTER
Soap Lake
Gilbert L. Lester, 77 of Soap Lake, passed away Nov. 26, 1998 at his son's home in Wenatchee. He was born icon Sept. 8, 1921 to Roy and Edna Lester in Iowa. Gilbert married icon Ruth Turner on July 1, 1941 in Soap Lake. Gilbert was a retired farmer in Soap Lake. He was a 50-year member of the Grange, and 40-year member of the N.R.A. A life member of the Nat. Muzzle Loading Assoc. Gilbert was also a member of the Cascade Mt. Men, the American Motorcycle Assoc. and the American Assoc. Venture Touring Society. Gilbert leaves his sons Vern, of Chelan and Bert, of Wenatchee, 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in August of this year. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 4, 1998 at 10 a.m. at Nicoles Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Deviney officiating. Burial will follow at the Odessa Cemetery. Nicoles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ANDREW MICHAEL SCHREMPP
Wenatchee
Andrew Michael Schrempp, infant son of Michael and Eileen Schrempp, went to rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus, on Monday, Nov. 30, 1998 at the Central Washington Hospital. Survivors include his parents, Michael and Eileen of Wenatchee; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Ginger Brend of Lombard, IL; his paternal grandparents, Fulgence and Nancy Schrempp of Wenatchee; his four uncles, two aunts and numerous cousins. A Mass of Angels will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Apostles Catholic Church of East Wenatchee with Father Seamus Kerr serving as Celebrant. Concluding services and interment icon will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery icon in East Wenatchee. Arrangements are by Jones and Jones Funeral Directors of Wenatchee.

CHARLES EDMUND THOMPSON
East Wenatchee
Charles Edmund Thompson, 38, a local physician, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, when a metal pole he was using to place outdoor Christmas lights up in a tree touched a high voltage power line. Each Christmas Charles decorated his home with elaborate Christmas decorations. He was almost done with the lighting when the accident occurred. Dr. Thompson was born icon March 24, 1960, in Fort Campbell, KY. He attended high school in Papillion, NE, where he played football and graduated in 1978. From 1979-81 he served a mission in Bogata, Columbia, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On August 19, 1983, Charles married icon Rebecca Lynn Prengel of Olympia. They made their home in Provo, UT, where both graduated from Brigham Young University, Charles in 1984 with a B.S. degree in chemistry. He continued studies in biochemistry before attending medical school at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, IA. Dr. Thompson graduated from medical school in 1989 as a Doctor of Osteopathy and did his family practice residency in Cheyenne, WY. He was medical board certified in Wyoming and Washington and was a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Association of Family Physicians. Charles was also a captain in the National Guard for over seven years, receiving the Meritorious Service Medal among other awards. Charles and his family moved to Wenatchee in 1992 where he worked as a physician for six years at Columbia Valley Community Health. For the past three months he was a physician at Central Washington Family Physicians. Because he spoke fluent Spanish, Dr. Thompson had many Hispanic patients. Since August of 1997 Dr. Thompson was Bishop of the East Wenatchee Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also coached basketball for the Eastmont Girls Youth Basketball League. Consequently, Chuck, as he was called by all who knew him, was widely known and loved in the community. The consummate family man, Chuck was one of those rare individuals who made many friends easily because he cared about people. It is an understatement to say Chuck Thompson will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Lynn Thompson, four children, Anita Kaye, 14, Sara Michele, 11, Rachel Lynn, 8, and Emily Celeste, two months, also his mother and father, Anita Lorene and Eldon Edmond Thompson of Omaha, NE, a brother, Jason Thompson, currently in the Marines, two sisters, Patty Derby of Morganfield, KY and Dolly Abrams of Papillion, NE, two grandmothers, Myrrthe Roberts of Vernal, UT, and Elizabeth Wilson of Morganfield, KY, a great-grandmother, Gladys Dunaway also of Morganfield, plus many aunts, uncles, and other relations. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wenatchee Washington Stake Center on 10th Street in East Wenatchee. Douglas Bowen will conduct the services. A brief graveside ceremony at Evergreen Memorial Park will follow the funeral services. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or the Chuck Thompson Memorial Fund c/o Columbia Valley Community Health, 600 Orondo St., Wenatchee, WA 98801. Jones and Jones Funeral Home of Wenatchee are in charge of the arrangements.

EUNICE MARION TILLETT
Brewster
Eunice Marion Tillett, 79, of Brewster, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998 at Harmony House. She was born icon in Crosby, MN, grew up in Vancouver, WA and recently moved to Brewster from Chelan. Survivors include a son, Jerry Tretwold of Brewster; a daughter, Kathleen Mullin of Spokane; a sister, Donna Poffenroth of Vancouver, WA, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. At her request, a family memorial service will be held at the Lighthouse in Mukilteo. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Barnes Chapel of Brewster.

DOROTHY JANE WINSHIP
Wenatchee
Dorothy Jane Winship, 63, a resident of Wenatchee, passed away on Dec. 2, 1998 at Central Washington Hospital after long and brave struggle with her health. She was born icon on Jan. 2, 1935 to George and Berniece Michel in Glasgow, MT. She received her early education in the Catholic school system and graduated from Glasgow High School. In June 1954 she married icon Dale Winship. She went on to achieve her nursing degree in Helena, MT in 1964 and worked at the Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow and at the nursing home in Chelan. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Chelan. Survivors include her son, Dan Winship of Manson, her daughter, Linda Winship and grandson, Mathias of Chelan, her sisters, Kathy Michel and Jan Webb of Wenatchee. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Patrick. Services will be conducted at St. Francis Catholic Church at 215 W. Allen in Chelan on Monday, Dec. 7, 1998 at 11 a.m. Precht Rose Chapel in Chelan is in charge of arrangements.

Gladys Box Burton
Gladys Box Burton, 94, of Wenatchee, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Colonial Vista Convalescent Center in Wenatchee. She had lived in Wenatchee for 70 years and had worked as a school teacher. Survivors include two nieces and eight nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wenatchee First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Jones and Jones Funeral Directors, Wenatchee.

Gilbert L. Lester, 77, of Soap Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, in Wenatchee. He was a retired farmer and a longtime resident of Soap Lake. Charles Edmund Thompson, 38, of East Wenatchee, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Wenatchee. He had lived in East Wenatchee for six years and was a doctor of osteopathy. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Lynn Thompson of East Wenatchee; four daughters, Anita Kaye, Sara Michele, Rachel Lynn and Emily Celeste, all of East Wenatchee; his mother and father, Anita Lorene and Eldon Edmond Thompson of Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Jason Thompson, currently in the U.S. Marines; and two sisters, Patty Derby of Morganfield, Ky., and Dolly Abrams of Papillion, Neb. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wenatchee Stake Center, 667 10th St., East Wenatchee. Douglas Bowen will conduct the services. Eunice Marion Tillett, 79, of Brewster, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Harmony House. She had recently moved to Brewster from Chelan. Survivors include a son, Jerry Tretwold of Brewster; a daughter, Kathleen Mullin of Spokane; and a sister, Donna Poffenroth of Vancouver. At her request, a family memorial service will be held at the lighthouse in Mukilteo. Arrangements are by Barnes Chapel, Brewster.

Dorothy Jane Winship
Dorothy Jane Winship, 63, of Wenatchee, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at Central Washington Hospital. She had worked at Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Mont., and a nursing home in Chelan. Survivors include a son, Dan Winship of Manson; a daughter, Linda Winship of Chelan; and two sisters, Kathy Michel and Jan Webb, both of Wenatchee. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church, 215 W. Allen, Chelan.

Walter Wayne Wynhoff
Walter Wayne Wynhoff, 74, of Quincy, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, in Ephrata. He was a longtime resident of Quincy and worked as a farm implement parts manager in Quincy for many years. Survivors include his wife, Naomi, at home; a daughter, Nancy of Yakutsk, Siberia, Russia; three sons, Rory of George, Roland of Oklahoma, and Randy of Tacoma; and two sisters, Blanche Steele of Jefferson, Mo., and Faye Burton of Quincy. At his request there will be no services.
