Lloyd Frances Colyer, age 95 of Maple
Falls, WA born July 28,
1909 in Lynden, Washington to Alfred
and Ina (Taylor) Colyer. He was a
lifetime resident of Whatcom County,
graduating from Lynden High School. He
worked for Whatcom County as a snow
plow driver and heavy equipment
operator. He was a long time member of
the Sumas Masons, Camels Club in Lynden
and of the Eagles Lodge. He truly
loved his camper and river fishing.
Lloyd was preceded in passed away July 28, 2004
in Bellingham. Harry was death by his parents, brother Jack
and his sisters May and Dorothy. Harry
is survived by sister Patricia
Heykamp, brother Bill Heykamp, nephews
Robert (Brinda) Clemons, David (Ellen)
Heykamp, Paul Heykamp, nieces Linda
(Dick) Hall and Shirley (Dave)
Huntington and numerous other
relatives. A Memorial Service will be
held at Westford’s Broadway Hall, 1300
Broadway, on Friday, August 6 at 11 AM
with Reverend Al Currier officiating.
A reception will follow in the hall.
Katherine Vukelich Stilnovich

Katherine Vukelich Stilnovich, age 87
of Samish Island, WA death by husband
Paul and son Paul Michael.
Katherine is survived by son Robert
(Debbie) Stilnovich of Samish Island,
grandson Robb (Effie) Stilnovich and
their daughter Eva of Tacoma, grandson
Doug Stilnovich of Shoreline, sister
Mary Guay of Kirkland, brothers Rudy
(Katie) Vukelich, Emil (Mandy)
Vukelich, and John Vukelich, all of
Seattle, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Memorials may be made to a charity of
your choice. A memorial gathering will
be held at Bob's home, 9746 Samish
Island Road on Saturday, August 14th at
1:00 PM.
Otto Gothenberg
9/22/1907 - 7/24/2004
Otto Gothenberg, age 96 of Blaine,
born
September 22, 1907, to Ole and Sara
Gothenberg in Aurdhl, Valdres, Norway.
The family included one sister, Gyda,
and two brothers, Syver and Helge, now
all deceased. His family emigrated
near Viking, Minnesota in 1914, where
Ole married, and gave him a half-
sister, Louise, now living in Goshen,
NY.
He worked at many jobs, including
lumberjacking in Wyoming, the Pacific
Northwest, and Alaska; mining in
Kennecott, AK; and steel working and
auto working in Duluth and in Flint,
MI. In 1937, he started fishing in
Alaska, mostly near Cordova.
He served in the Navy during WWII,
became a lieutenant, and served in the
Aleutian, Saipan, Iwo Jima, Okinawa,
and Hiroshima Campaigns. He received
the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-
Pacific Campaign Medal with four bronze
starts, WWII Victory Medal, and the
Navy Occupation Service Medal
with “Asia” Clasp. His ship, the USS
Detroit, was present at the signing of
the peace treaty in Tokyo Bay in
September, 1945. On his return to
civilian life, he resumed fishing until
his retirement. In February, 1958 he
died.
He is survived by his sister; his
nieces, including Marilyn Larson,
Shirley Johnson, Mary Labine, Marlyce
Johnson, Karen Blanchette, and Judy
Hassenstab; his nephew, Dale Stark;
and numerous great nieces and
nephews. Most of his family remains in
Minnesota.
Otto was an outdoor person who loved
fishing, hunting, and hiking. He had a
wonderfully balanced mind and sparkling
humor, and charmed all who knew him no
matter where he went. Memorials may be
made to the Stafholt Good Samaritan
Center, 456 C Street, Blaine, WA 98230;
or to his much beloved church, Grace
Lutheran, 702 G Street, Blaine, WA
98230. A Memorial Service will be held
in his honor at Grace Lutheran Church
on Wednesday, August 4th at 2 pm,
followed by a reception.
Donald LaVerne Rogers
1/1/1935 - 7/26/2004
Donald L. Rogers, age 69 of
Bellingham,
born January 1, 1935 to Gordon and
Lois (Pendleton) Rogers in
Bellingham.
Don has been death by his
parents Gordon and Lois Rogers. He is
survived by his wife Claudia Rogers;
four daughters, Kathleen (Carl) Van
Loon of Yoncalla, OR, Margaret
Whittaker and Rodney Culverwell of
Craig, CO, Carolyn (Ben) Lange of
Custer, Carla (Gerry) Desoto of
Ferndale; two sons, John (Kelly) Davis
of Kennewick and Timothy Rogers of
Bellingham; brother Duane (Karen)
Rogers of Bellingham, sisters-in-law
Charlotte (Jim) Vail of Sedro Woolley
and Karen (Darrall) Dorland of Custer.
He is also survived by sixteen
grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Whatcom
Hospice Foundation at 800 E. Chestnut,
Suite 1C, Bellingham, WA 98225.
Visitation will be held at Westford
Funeral Home on Thursday, July 29th
from 10 am – 8 pm. Memorial Services
will be held at Sunrise Baptist Church
(2480 W. Badger Rd, Custer, WA) on
Friday, July 30th at 11 am, followed
by a reception at the church
