Alice J. Yurovchak
5/27/1920 - 9/25/2004

Alice J. Yurovchak, 84, born May 27, 1920,
in Tacoma, Washington, to Anna (Durica)
and Andrew Yurovchak.
Alice worked for 41 years in the Tacoma
office of Pacific Northwest Bell,
retiring in 1983. She was a member of
the Telephone Pioneers of America and
of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where
her father assisted in the
construction. In 1997 she moved to
Bellingham to be near her family.
She is survived by her nephew, Andrew
Yurovchak (Lynne) of Bellingham; her
niece, Mary Lou Jones (Tom) of
Nooksack; and her sister-in-law,
Caroline Yurovchak of Bellingham. Also
surviving are great nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in interment at Calvary born
on March 21, 1913 in Sumas to Grover
and Clara Hamilton. Earl was an
exceptionally generous and kind person
and will be deeply missed by all who
knew him. Earl was involved in many
organizations including the 32nd Degree
member of Scottish Rite Valley of
Bellingham, Northwest Shrine Club, and
Nile Temple. He was also a member of
the Rome Grange.
Earl is preceded in passed away
with his family at his side on
June 23, 2004 in Bellingham,
Washington. John was born to
Meier Hagen of Grytting, Norway and
Anna Felldin of Fellingsbro, Sweden.
He grew up during the Great Depression,
and enlisted in the Army during
World War II. He served as a radio
operator with the Army Air Forces,
flying B-24 missions in the South
Pacific. After the war he attended
the University of Minnesota and North
Dakota State University, from
which he received a degree in
Electrical Engineering.
In 1950 he married for 52
years until she death by his wife
Bernice Hagen, by his parents Meier and
Anna Hagen, and by his sisters Ollie
(Alvild), Marie, Cecile, and Jordyce.
He is survived by his daughter
Elizabeth Canino of Cranston, Rhode
Island, his son Steven Hagen of
Kristiansund, Norway, his son Daniel
Hagen of Bellingham, Washington, his
grandchildren Jonathan, Alison,
Shelley, Maehren, and Sarah, his great
grandchildren Rowen and Drew, his
sister Dagney, and numerous nephews and
nieces, including Sue Leonard and Penny
Kotte.
Memorials may be made to The American
Heart Association, 710 2nd Ave, Suite
900, Seattle, WA 98104, or to The
American Lung Association, 2625 Third
Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121. A memorial
service will be held at 11:00 am on
Tuesday, June 29 at Westford Funeral
Home Chapel, followed by a lunch
reception at Westford’s Broadway Hall,
1300 Broadway.

Kathleen M. (Ashe) Bolster
Our most beloved mother, Kathleen Ashe
Bolster left us early Wednesday
morning and is now living on in our
lives and hearts. Kathleen was the
kindest, fairest and most loving
member of our family. Kathleen, we
miss you already. We will all miss
you forever.
Kathleen was born April 15, 1925 in
Granite Falls to her parents James and
Katherine (Duffy) Ashe. At the age of
three her family relocated to
Bellingham. She attended Assumption
Catholic Grade School and then
graduated from Bellingham High School
in 1943. She attended WWU and
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in 1982. Kathleen was a member
of Sacred Heart Catholic Church,
Catholic Daughters, The Aftermath
Club, AAUW, the Senior Activity center
and the Whatcom Museum Docents.
Kathleen was always thinking of others
before herself. She was a very kind
and elegant lady. Kathleen devoted
much of her time to all her children
and grandchildren.
Kathleen is survived by her sons, J.
Frederick Bolster of Bellingham,
Daniel R. Bolster of Bellingham; Gary
and (Jan) Bolster of Silverdale, WA,
daughter Rosemary Bolster (Larry
McCarter) of Bellingham, Sisters Helen
Ashe (friend Beryl Thompson) of
Seattle, Mary Lou (Walter) Hinds of
Bellingham, Patricia (Richard) Huntley
of Bellingham, and 13 Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday,
October 15th from 12 noon to 5 PM at
Westford Funeral Home. A Vigil
Service will be held Sunday, October
17th at 7:00PM at Westford Funeral
home. Mass of Christian Burial will
be held at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church on Monday Oct. 18th at 12:10,
followed by a reception at the Parish
hall and a committal service at
Greenacres. Memorials in Kathleen’s
memory may be made to the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation
International, 120 Wall Street, 19th
Floor, New York, NY 10005.
