Paul F. Simonds
6/9/1919 - 9/3/2004
Paul Simonds was passed away peacefully on September 3rd
of 2004 surrounded by his loving
family.
Paul worked at many jobs during his
lifetime, some of which included
working in his father’s grocery store,
a tour of duty with the US Army during
WWII, building of the Distant Early
Warning Line in Alaska, and 25 years at
Cap Hansen Tavern until his retirement
in 1983. After retirement Paul
volunteered at the Bellingham Foodbank,
at one point serving on the Board.
Paul was well known for his never
ending string of jokes and quick wit.
Paul spent his last three years at
Bellingham Health Care, where he was
very much loved and cared for by the
dedicated and loving staff.
Paul leaves behind his devoted wife of
60 years Frances; his son Michael and
wife Donna; daughter Deborah and
husband Richard Sobjack; son Patrick
and wife Frances; and daughter Mary Hay
and husband Mark Ayers.
Paul also had five grandsons: Robert,
Richard, Shawn, Matthew and Keith.
Memorials may be made to the Bellingham
Food Bank, 1824 Ellis St., Bellingham,
WA 98225. Funeral Services will be
held at Westford Funeral Home Chapel on
Friday, September 10th at 1 PM.
Jean Reisher Foster
9/1/1921 - 9/7/2004
Jean Reisher Foster died
in 1935. There she met Donald W.
Chamberlain. Don joined the Navy in
1943 and served in the Pacific until
1947. Joyce and Don were died in
1989 at the young age of 63, and Joyce
moved to the Bellingham area soon
thereafter.
Joyce held many jobs over the years,
but being a preschool teacher was her
favorite, after motherhood, of course.
She loved learning and the quest to
improve herself. She had a flair for
design and a passion for gardening,
until age slowed her down a bit.
Afterward, she focused her energy in
exploring the finer art of bridge with
her friends from the Assistance League
of Bellingham.
Joyce enjoyed making Bellingham her
home and supporting locally owned
businesses. She discovered that
Bellingham takes itself seriously and
enjoyed following County Council
politics and issues on television and
local news articles. Joyce believed
everyone had a duty and responsibility
to get informed, understand the issues,
and take a position. She approached
life with the same intensity.
She leaves behind her daughter Susan
and husband Larry Sanders of Lake
Whatcom; son Todd and wife Darci
Chamberlain of Simi Valley, CA; and her
grandchildren: Collin, Katie, and
Chelsea. Of all the time she had, she
wished for more at the end. She wanted
to see grandchildren grown, to travel
again, and to visit with you as a
friend.
We will miss her.
In lieu of cards or flowers, please
make donations to the Assistance League
of Bellingham or Whatcom Hospice.
Family Services will be held at a later
date.
