Doris M Werner
Born in Seymour, MO on Jan. 13, 1909
Departed on Jul. 11, 2007 and resided in Lynden, WA.
Doris M. Werner, a precious Mom, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wed. July 11, 2007 at age 98. A long-serving pastor’s wife and 1st grade teacher in Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois, she is remembered for her love of children with special needs.
She was married 50+ years to the Rev. Loyal E. Werner (deceased in 1991). She is survived by her son, Dr. Lance D. Werner (Ph.D. Univ. of Washington), a Geography professor for 18 years at Trinity Western University. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 20, 2:00 pm at Third Christian Reformed Church, 514 Liberty St., Lynden. Donations can be made to the Loyal and Doris Werner Scholarship Fund, TWU, 7600 Glover Road, Langley, BC V2Y 1Y1 or a charity of choice. She will be missed greatly for her spunk, loving dedication to disadvantaged children and a smile that could light up any darkness

Tony Wilson
Born in Caldwell, Idaho on Sep. 22, 1980
Departed on Jul. 12, 2007 and resided in Lynden,, WA.
Anthony Christian Wilson, age 26, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 12, 2007. We will gather to celebrate Tony’s life on Thursday, July 19, at Noon in the Jake Maberry Gymnasium at Lynden High School with Pastor Craig Hardinger officiating. The celebration will be preceded by a graveside service in Lynden Cemetery at 11:00 am.
Tony was the oldest child and only son of Jeff and Sandy Wilson. He was born in Caldwell, Idaho on September 22, 1980 and moved with his family to Lynden from McCall, Idaho in 1991. He graduated from Lynden High School in 1999 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Washington University. He began his career this past year as a financial planner at Merrill Lynch Investment Services in Bellingham.
Tony had a deep love for sports. He excelled in football, basketball, and baseball in high school and football for WWU. He shared his passion and knowledge of the game by coaching basketball at Meridian High School and football at Lynden High School.
Tony was kind, gentle and outgoing. He loved deeply and generously and was a dedicated friend to many. He gave freely of his time and was active in several community organizations including the Lynden Pioneer Museum Board, Lynden Masonic Lodge #56, and Toastmasters International. He was in the process of bringing his passion for golf and youth sports together by organizing a benefit golf tournament that will take place August 10 and will be renamed in his honor.
Tony is survived by his parents Jeff and Sandy Wilson, and sister Jenn Wilson of Lynden, the love of his life Bree Brandt of Laurel; maternal grandmother Donna Lowrance, paternal grandparents Harold and Mary Wilson and maternal great-grandmother Wilma Edick of Homedale, ID. and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather John Fisher.
Visitation hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 18, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.
Memorials in Tony’s honor may be made to the Tony Wilson Scholarship; c/o Dollars for Scholars; 1201 Bradley Road, Lynden, WA. 98264.

Carol Ann Terpsma-Nebbergall
Born in Everson, Washington, on Jan. 2, 1942
Departed on Jul. 13, 2007 and resided in Mt. Vernon, WA.
Carol Ann Terpsma-Nebbergall, age 65, died at a Snohomish health care facility on Friday, July 13.
Carol was the daughter of Charles and Elisabeth Terpsma and grew up in the Everson area of Whatcom County, and attended Lynden Christian Schools.

She lived in Mt. Vernon for a number of years and had just recently moved to Snohomish. She is survived by a sister and two brothers.
A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room of the Third Christian Reformed, 6th & Liberty Streets, Lynden with Pastor Tom Kok officiating. Her ashes will be interred in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden.
Memorials may be made to the Skagit Hospice Foundation; P.O. Box 1376; Mt. Vernon, WA. 98273.

Michael Ten Kley
Michael Dean Ten Kley, age 55, went to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at his home.
Mike was born on Dec. 29, 1950 in Bellingham, to Marvin A. and Henrietta (Veenhof) Ten Kley. He was raised in Lynden, and Deming, where he graduated from Mount Baker High School with the class of 1969. It was there he met and married his only high school sweetheart, Cheri Cowden, in February 1971. [cut off]

Elmer Nicolaas
Elmer C. Nicolaas, a lifetime resident of Bellingham and Ferndale, passed away at the age of 67 on Thursday, July 6, 2006.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1938 in Bellingham to Hank and Gertie Nicolaas.
Elmer was a well-liked man with a wonderful sense of humor. As the owner of Nicolaas Fuel and Auto Wrecking, he loved collecting things that would be valuable to others, and he often said, “If I don’t have it…You don’t need it.” Elmer loved to help people and enjoyed being at home watching “Andy Griffith,” “Bonanza” and “Gunsmoke.” He loved listening to old country and western albums.
Elmer married Betty Gray in 1959 and they had six children together. [cut off]

Elmore Deeter
Elmore Lloyd Deeter, age 95, died on Monday, July 3, 2006 in Sumas.
Born a twin to George W. and Agnes L. (Ludwig) Deeter on Jan. 2, 1911 in Everson, he was a lifetime Whatcom County resident.
On Jan. 2, 1931, he married Alice G. Merk.
She preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 2000.
Elmore worked a small dairy and berry farm with his parents and siblings for several years.
He and his twin brother, Rumore, then worked as a team in the woods and sawmills and eventually retired from the Olympic Cement Quarry after 27 years. [cut off]

James Honcoop
James J. Honcoop passed away on July 6, 2006 in Tucson, Ariz.
He was born on Dec.19, 1927 in Haarlemmermeer, the Netherlands, and immigrated to Lynden, with his family in February 1950.
He had served in the Dutch army in Indonesia after World War II.
He earned a degree in education from Western Washington University and later a Master’s Degree from Oregon State University.
He taught photography in Tucson schools from 1957 until 1984 at the high school level.
He spent his remaining years as a nature photographer.
His love of teaching was still evident in the many hours he spent each year volunteering at, among other places, the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum as a docent, and at the Sonoran Arthropod Studies Institute.
He showed his slide documentaries on the life cycle of butterflies and other insects, various desert animals and desert plant life in many different places, including guest ranches, elder hostel classes and other educational venues. [cut off]

Joseph Murphy, Jr.
Joseph Patrick Murphy, Jr. passed away on June 25, 2006 at his residence in Blaine.
He was born in North Andover, Mass., and graduated from high school in Weymouth, Mass., in June 1941, and then joined the U.S. Navy.
He was a radioman until being accepted into flight school.
At the end of World War II, he was eligible for the GI Bill and studied electrical engineering at Rensaleer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
He spent the next 30 years as an electrical engineer. [cut off]

John Law
Capt. John Townley Law, USN, 87, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2006.
He was commanding officer of three destroyers and saw action in World War II and Korea.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of service and then was a manager of NATO weapons systems at GE for 14 years.
He and his wife, Lydia, moved to Washington, to be close to Lydia's family.
In Washington, he worked as a consultant on NATO issues and real estate development.
John and Lydia moved to Florida, in 1988.
John continued a very active life with the Kiwanis and the Indian River Colony Club.
He loved fishing, geology and stock trading. [cut off]

Arlene C. Brown
August 4, 1936 - January 10, 2007
Birthplace: Bellingham, Washington
Resided in: Conconully, Washington
Arlene Carol Brown, age 70, passed away on January 10, 2007, in Auburn, WA.
She was born on August 4, 1936, to Howard and June Fleck in Bellingham.
Arlene attended Bellingham High School and graduated with the class of 1955.
She later obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Western Washington State University.
For 20 years, she worked as a retail security officer and was security manager for Valu-Mart, The Bon Marche, Nordstrom, and Frederick and Nelson. Arlene retired from the Kent School District after spending several years working with special-needs children.
After retiring in 2000, Arlene and Dale moved to Conconully, WA, where she was active in the community and they attended the Little White Church on the Hill.
Arlene is survived by her husband Dale Brown of Conconully, WA; three daughters: Teri Westman (John), Lynne Gross (Aaron), and Dori Hecker (Bill); four stepchildren: John Brown (Kathryn), Angie Brown (Mike), Steve Brown (Christine), and Marty Brown (Teresa); 13 grandchildren: Jeff, Brad, Kristi, Aaron, Patrick, Nels, Tova, Jacob, Mikail, Sarah, Nason, Dillon, and Ella; and 3 great-grandchildren: Bailey, Elijah and Hailey.
Arlene will be missed by her family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance or the St. Joseph Medical Center Hospice in Tacoma, WA.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17th, in the Bayview Chapel at the funeral home, 2465 Lakeway Dr. in Bellingham (360-733-0510).
DIRECTIONS: Exit #253 on I-5 and head East on Lakeway. After about a mile, turn left at the light at the top of the hill, then turn right into our driveway.
