Marjory E. Williams

Marjory E. Williams, age 90, of Bellingham, died Sat. Nov 27, 2004 in Bellingham. She was born in Ottawa, IL, on April 15, 1914 to Herman and Bess Elder. Marjory grew up in Chicago, during the Great Depression and learned to be very frugal. She married Arthur Williams in 1934 and they had two sons. She and Arthur both enjoyed playing the organ. Marjory loved musicals and entertaining their friends in the neighborhood. After Arthur's death in 1963, Marjory cared most for her two sons and their families. She was always a very selfless and independent person. She moved to Bellingham, in 1987 and lived at the Parkway Chateau and the Willows, where she made many friends. Marjory was an animal lover; favorite pets include her dogs "Mac" and "Tucker" and her cat "Sweetheart." She always decorated during the holidays, Christmas being her favorite. Marjory was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur and sister, Lois Winkler. She is survived by her son, Steve (wife, Marilyn) of Millersport, OH, son, Jim and his wife, Sue Taylor of Bellingham, granddaughter, Tina Steele and her daughter, Samantha, both of Columbus, OH. Memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice. A Celebration of Marjory's Life will be held at Westford Funeral Home Chapel on Tues. Nov. 30, 2004 at 10:30 AM.
George Dean Martin

George Dean Martin, born on June 12, 1918, in Cherokee, OK, passed away at his home in Bellingham, Tues. Nov. 30, 2004. George is survived by his wife of 62 years, June Martin, his two son's, Larry D. Martin (and wife, Colleen) of Pearce, Arizona, and Steve L. Martin (and wife, Tina) of Phoenix, Arizona, and grandchildren, Michael Martin (and wife, Lori) of Ferndale, Tina Harkness of Bellingham, Jerod Lira of Ferndale, Jessica Lira Salcido (and husband, Isidro) of Glendale, AZ, Joseph Martin of Phoenix, AZ, and a foster-granddaughter, Gail Stevenson of Darrington, one brother, Clifford Martin of Mooreland, OK, as well as 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.E. (Elmer) Martin and Pearl Martin, two brothers, Bill and Bob and his sisters, Lucille, Velma, and Peggy. George and his family moved to Yakima, WA, in 1940. There, he was a truck driver for an apple-packing plant that also employed his soon-to-be wife, June Dayton. They were married on Nov. 22, 1942 while George was serving as an airplane mechanic during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Washington, and settled in Bellingham. He went to work at Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 13 years and then began his own business, Martin Appliance Service, which he owned and operated until his retirement. He lived for 10 years in the Everson area, where he enjoyed small scale farming and gardening. George produced some of the nicest tomatoes in the county. In 1950, George and June took what they considered a most important step in their lives when they became baptized ministers of Jehovah's Witnesses. Over the years, George enjoyed several privileges in the congregation such as conducting a school in public speaking for use in the public ministry of Jehovah's Witnesses, conducting Bible Study programs and has served as an elder for the past 20 years. His love for God, his family and friends, made him the man he was; generous, caring and kind. Memorial Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 3689 Sorenson Road, (corner of Sorenson and Goodwin Rds) in Everson, WA at 3:00 p.m. Saturday Dec. 4, 2004.
Alvin F. Blake

Alvin F. Blake, age 85, passed away in Bellingham, on Dec. 3, 2004.
He was born July 25, 1919 in Bellingham, to Robert and Annetta Blake.
He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1937 and served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945.
He worked for various painting contractors, eventually working in the Maintenance Department at WWU.
Due to an on-the-job injury leaving him disabled, he retired in 1979.
During his lifetime, Al enjoyed golfing, camping & fishing, harmonizing to those "old tunes" and family get-togethers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Irene and brothers, Robert, George and Richard.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of 54 years, sons, Jerry of Bellingham, Barry of Sumas, and daughters, Judie (Norm) Helland of Friday Harbor, and Pat (Tony) Cubellis of Lynden, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Whatcom Humane Society, 3710 Williamson Way, Bellingham, or your favorite charity.
Graveside services will be held at Greenacres in Ferndale, on Thurs., Dec. 9, 2004 at 12 noon followed by a Memorial Gathering at Westford's Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway at 1 P.M.
Chaplain Tony Cubellis will be officiating.
Henrietta L. Williamson

Henrietta "Hank" Williamson, age 86, of Bellingham, WA, died Nov. 27, 2004 in Bellingham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom in 1973 and sisters, Norma and Gloria.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (David) and their son, Tom of Abbotsford, B.C., Canada, brother, Roger (Phyllis) Gjetley of Temecula, brother, Calvin Gjetley of La Mirada, sister, Frances (Tony) Grasso of Rancho Palos Verdes, sister, Dorothy Iverson of Ft. Collins, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn.
A Memorial Service will be held at Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church on Tuesday, November 30th at 2 P.M.
Howard Chandler Christie

Howard C. Christie, age 91, passed away November 18, 2004 at home in Bellingham, with his wife, Muriel (Davis) at his side.
Howard was born in Bellingham, on October 17, 1913 to Frank and Alma (Parker) Christie.
Howard worked for the federal government for over thirty years and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War.
Howard and Muriel were married in Bellingham, on March 29, 1937.
They raised their family in Juneau, AK, and retired to the Bellingham area, in 1975.
Howard enjoyed fishing in Alaska, and landscaping their property in Birch Bay, WA.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, always supporting his family in all their endeavors.
Howard was the nicest, sweetest man, and quite the dancer.
He is preceded in death by his son, Roger, and his grandson, Brendan Gullufsen.
He is survived by Muriel, his wife of 67 years; his daughters, Candice Christie and Meredith Riley, both of Bellingham; grandsons, Olin and Ryan Gullufsen and Leonardo Riley; and granddaughters, Windy Ferguson and Jasmine Riley.
Memorials in memory of Howard may be made to the Hospice Foundation or the Alzheimer Association.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Westford's Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway, on Saturday, December 18 at 2 PM.
