Irma B. Zuanich
8/14/1910 - 11/18/2004

Irma B. Zuanich, age 94, passed away in Bellingham, on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004. She was born August 14, 1910 in Bellingham, to John & Hilda (Basgaard) Rule. She graduated from Whatcom High School at the age of 16 and worked for Morse Hardware as a secretary for 14 years. Irma married Andrew Zuanich, a local fisherman, in 1939 in Bellingham. After her children were grown, she worked as a secretary at the Parks Dept, a teacher's aide at Whatcom Middle School and a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital gift shop. Irma resided at her home on the south side for 62 years until she moved to the Willows. Irma was an avid bridge player and loved to read and travel. Despite being Norwegian, she was reputed to make the best Slav spaghetti on the south side. Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew, in 1969; and her sister, Caroline Caufman. She is survived by her son Jim (Shirley) Zuanich of Bellingham; son, Dick (Margaret) Zuanich of Palo Alto, CA; grandchildren Nick, Andy, Katherine, Paul, and Becky; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Wed, Nov. 24 from 12 – 5 PM. Funeral Services will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Fri, Nov. 26 at 1 P.M. with Deacon Matt Zuanich officiating with a reception following at Squalicum Boathouse at Zuanich Point Park. Graveside Committal will be held at Bayview Cemetery on Mon, Nov. 29 at 10 AM.

Harry Sidney Stone
11/26/1901 - 10/25/2004

Harry Stone, age 102, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 25, 2004, one month before his 103rd birthday. On Saturday he celebrated his 76th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife Ruth. Harry was born November 26, 1901, in Manchester, England and moved at the age of eight to America. He and his father were pioneers in the aviation industry developing among some of the first propellers to be used in early aircraft. With the arrival of jet engines, Harry went on to be a grocer owning his own grocery stores in Illinois and California. Harry and Ruth moved to Bellingham in 1988 where they lived for a time with their daughter-in-law, Sue Stone and husband Rod Zoske. They soon purchased a Bellingham home with their daughter, Brenda Rogers. Brenda has been their loving caregiver for 16 years. Harry is remembered by his large family for his positive attitude, beautiful tenor voice, especially the song he often sang to Ruth, "It's Been a Long, Long Time," which so aptly describes their enduring marriage. Both Harry and Ruth enjoyed music and square dance together for many years and shared many special songs including another apropos favorite, "The Anniversary Song". Harry would often sing "The Best is Yet to Come" and took much pride in and had much love for each and every one of his grandchildren and family. At his hundredth Birthday celebration, Harry took the microphone and sang to his many friends and relatives that joined him on this special occasion. Harry was preceded in death by his son, Gary Stone, and brothers Henry, Sam, Jack, and sisters Eva, Dorothy, and Lillian. He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Brenda Rogers, daughter- in-law Sue Zoske (Rod), Grandchildren, Jeff (Michelle), Chris, Collette (Craig), Todd (Jennifer), Nicole (Larry), Bradford (Shannon), Gary (Fran), and Great-grandchildren Eveliene, Margaux, Michael, Cloe, Nicolas, Harrison, and Taylor, brother William (Betty), and nephews, Jeff (Candice), and Evan (Lori). There will be a family memorial service on Thanksgiving Day.

June O'Reilly Anderson
9/12/1923 - 11/2/2004

June O'Reilly Anderson passed away on November 2nd at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 81. June was born on September 12, 1923 in Portland, Oregon, to Roland and Sybil Ryder-Smith, who had just emigrated from England a short time earlier. In 1943, she married Paul O'Reilly at Christ Episcopal Church in Seattle, Washington. Shortly after, Paul was stationed in the Pacific by the U.S. Army so he was overseas for the birth of their first two children. Paul died quite young, in 1964, and June married Dr. O. William Anderson, a Seattle pediatrician. They were married for 30 years until Bill's death in 1997. June was a Seattle resident for most of her life, and moved to Bellingham, in 2000 to be closer to her children. She lived first in The Willows and, more recently, at Orchard Park. June was an active volunteer for the Children's Orthopedic Hospital and for St. Stephen's Church in Seattle. She is survived by her daughter, Maureen O'Reilly and husband, Steven Aronoff of Bellingham; her son, Brian O'Reilly and wife, Deborah Lasday of Montclair, New Jersey; and son, Kevin O'Reilly of Camano Island, along with her three grandchildren, Abigail O'Reilly, Ethan O'Reilly, and Taylor Stern. Maureen is a faculty member in the theatre department at Western Washington University. A celebration of June's life will be held at Westford Funeral Home, Broadway at Eldridge, on Thurs., Nov. 4th at 10:30 A.M., followed by a reception in the chapel. Graveside committal services will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Seattle, on Thursday, November 4th at 2:30PM. Memorials may be made to either the Children's Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle, or to the Paul O'Reilly Scholarship Fund at Whitman College in Walla Walla.

Earl W. Barr, Jr.
5/6/1919 - 12/22/2004

Earl W. Barr, Jr. passed away Dec 22nd, 2004 in Bellingham. Mr. Barr owned and operated "Barr's Camera Shop" from 1946 until 1978. He was well-respected among the community and most likely one of the kindest and caring man known by many people who's lives he touched. He was a private man with one goal in life to make others happy. Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Dorothy, brother Conrad, and sister Helen Lohse. Survived by his long time friend Lois Murray Harrington, adopted children Mike Murray (Pam) Shiela Murray Cernich (Jerry), all of Bellingham, and close friend, Irene Osborne of Portland, OR. Jr. Barr, as most called him will be truly missed. At his request, no services will be held. Donations may be made in his name to the Humane Society.

Mildred Grace Flynn
5/4/1910 - 12/12/2004

Mildred G. Flynn, age 94, of Bellingham, passed away December 12, 2004. She was born May 4, 1910 in Hadlock, WA, to George & Martha (Eldridge) Enfield. Mildred married Robert Flynn on May 19, 1940. She worked as a secretary for Civil Services and was a member of the Bellingham Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Flynn in 1974 and son, Bill Flynn in 2004. She is survived by her daughters, Patsy (Tom) Zajac of Florida; Betty (Glen) Friedl of Bellingham, and Terri Flynn of Colorado. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Family Graveside Services will be held at Bayview Cemetery.
