Eileen Jepperson Rettig
2/1/1941 - 12/28/2004
Eileen J. Rettig, age 63 of
Bellingham,born February 1, 1941 to Adeline
and Alton Jepperson in Bellingham.
She graduated from Bellingham High
School in 1958. In the 1960’s, Eileen
lived in Alaska at Fort Greeley
working as a hair stylist and also
homesteaded in the Matanuska Valley
near Wasilla.
Upon returning to Washington, she
worked at ARCO’s Cherry Point
Refinery. Eileen found many interests
in addition to her family including
gardening, fishing, traveling, and
other creative endeavors. Eileen was
a member of the First Presbyterian
Church. Her surviving family includes
her son Benjamin N. Johnson and
stepdaughter Tanya S. Smith, brother
Bernhard Jepperson and sisters Peggy
Jean Hinton and Emelyne Fredlund, step
grandchildren Jeremy Ingram, Shannon
and Holden Smith, Simon Smith and
numerous nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in born on December 13, 1912 in Saginaw,
MI to George & Marie Schoessler. After
moving to Washington, she attended high
school in Ritzville and graduated from
Walla Walla. Mary graduated from WSU
in 1936 from the school of Pharmacy.
Mary held pharmacy licenses in
California, Oregon, Washington, and
Alaska until she was 80 years old. She
retired from St. Joseph Hospital as
chief pharmacist in 1976.
Mary had a great passion for the
outdoors, her flowers, gardening,
music, and spending time with the ones
she loved.
She was preceded in passed away peacefully
on Dec. 21, 2004. He was married Marjorie (French) in 1951
and they had two daughters. He is
survived by his cousin Helen Warner and
his daughters, Lizabeth Ann Allison
(Michael Levine) and Lou Ann Edwards.
His grandchildren are Allison Edwards
Ledesma (Pablo), Sean Edwards, Megan
Edwards, Quinn Edwards, Kelsea Edwards,
and Andrew Levine.
Throughout his life, in a quiet, gentle
manner Jack imparted wisdom and
influenced the lives of countless
people, both young and old. He chose
his words carefully. When he spoke,
people listened and were glad they had
done so. He will be missed but his
spirit will sail on.
