Julia Elizabeth Banks
11/28/1905 - 3/2/2006
Julia E. Banks, age 100, born
November 28, 1905 in North Braddock, PA
to Louis & Mary Petro. Julia lived
most of her life in PA, including 50
years in the home that her father
built. She moved to Bellingham in 1990
to closer to her family. Julia worked
for the telephone company and enjoyed
working at the Sharing Shop, when it
was operating. She was a Girl Scout
Leader for many years, taking the troop
camping, and doing cookouts and
crafts. She enjoyed sewing, making
clothes for herself, daughter, and
grandkids. Julia also liked to
crochet, and she made baby afghans for
young mothers around town. She was
also known to bake cookies for friends
and neighbors, and especially for her
grandkids and son-in-law. Julia was a
devout Catholic her entire life. She
really enjoyed her time at The Leopold,
and loved all of her friends and the
staff there. She was cheerful, a good
listener, and was known for her great
smile.
Julia was preceded in Interment will be in New St. Joseph
death
by her parents, Basil and Rose
Rasmussen.
Nonnie, as she was known to many of her
close friends and family, was married to for the
last 18 years. Tom was her "rock" and
she was so thankful to have him in her
life. She is also survived by her
devoted sister, Gail Phillips (of
Bellingham), special niece Traci
Goodsell, two aunts, and other cousins,
nieces and relatives. She also leaves
behind two stepchildren, Nathan (Beth)
Grigg of Seattle, and Heidi Grigg of
Portland, Oregon.
Her four young grandchildren, Joshua
and Jackson Kink, and Elliott and Owen
Grigg, were the light of her life.
Jared and Jennifer are expecting a
child, and she was very happy for them
and was looking forward to the birth of
their first child in August. She was
totally devoted to her family, and will
be deeply missed by all who knew and
loved her.
A closed casket visitation will be held
at Westford Funeral Home on Thursday,
March 9th, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM. A
short ceremony will follow at
Greenacres Memorial Park at 3:00,
followed by a "Fish & Chips For
Everybody" reception at Westford’s
Broadway Hall (across the street from
Westford's) at 4:00. Memorials may be
made to Willamette Falls Hospice, 1505
Division St., Oregon City, Oregon
97045, or to The Special Olympics at
1133 19th Street NW, 12th Floor

Harold R. Gilley
7/9/1917 - 3/8/2006
Harold R. Gilley, age 88, Interment to follow at
Enterprise passed away March 19,
2006. She was death by her
husband, Dave Roberson and grandson,
Scott Roberson. She is survived by her
daughter, Kay (Lloyd) Ludtke of
Everson; son Tom (Cindy) Roberson of
Bellingham; brother Bob (Diane) Gates
of Lynden; grandchildren Lance
(Theresa) Ludtke, Lex (Leah) Ludtke,
Becky (Kern) MacDonald, Elizabeth (Jon)
Howe; and 7 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to St. Joseph’s Hospital
Foundation, 2901 Squalicum Pkwy.,
Bellingham, WA 98225 or the Fred
Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, PO
Box 19024, J5-200, Seattle, WA 98109.
Visitation with family present will be
held at Westford Funeral Home on
Sunday, March 26 from 4:30 – 6:30 PM.
A Graveside Service will be held at
Greenacres Cemetery on Monday, March 27
at 11 AM with Pastor Doug Iben
officiating. A reception will
following at Bellingham Golf & Country
Club at 12 Noon.
