Vera A. Leese

Vera A. Leese, age 98 of Bellingham,
born March 25, 1907 in Harbin,
Manchuria, China, and moved with her
family to San Francisco in 1920. Vera
and her husband Alexander moved to
Portland in 1936, and to Longview in
1940, where she was the bookstore
manager for the Lower Columbia
College. She moved to Bellingham in
1993. Along with her husband, she was
involved in art and music activities in
Longview and Portland, and in
Bellingham, she was very supportive of
The Western Gallery at WWU.
Preceded in died December 24,
2003 in Bellingham, WA surrounded by
her loving family. Mae was married life there. In 1957 she and her
family moved to North Vancouver,
British Columbia. Later Mae and her
husband Tom came to Sudden Valley and
Bellingham. Mae loved reading and
flowers but most of all her good
friends, home and family. Mae will be
greatly missed by her loving husband of
sixty-five years, Tom Getzie of
Bellingham, daughters Linda Williams
(Jeff) of Cranbrook, and Kathy Evans
(Don) of Victoria, son Tom J. Getzie
(Pat) of North Vancouver, and
grandchildren Stephen Williams (Reda)
of Kelowna, Tom G. Getzie of Toronto,
and Danielle (Harley) Getzie of
Vancouver. She also leaves brothers
Vincent (Ann) and Jack (Marion). She
will be remembered with love by
supportive relatives and a multitude of
friends. In lieu of flowers, donations
in memory of Mae can be made to St.
Joseph Hospital Foundation, Medical
Care Unit, 2901 Squalicum Pkwy,
Bellingham, WA 98225. Memorial Mass
will be celebrated at the Church of the
Assumption on Wednesday Dec. 31, 2003
at 1:00 PM.
Casey Mark Hanna II
7/21/1985 - 1/30/2004
Casey "Trip" Hanna II, age 18 passed
away Friday, January 30, 2004 in
Bellingham. Casey is survived by his
mother Lamel Hanna, father Casey
Hanna, brother Cassidy Hanna, sisters
Mistie and Cassandra Hanna, nephew
John Michael Bubba, niece Ayla
Standfield, and many aunts, uncles and
cousins. In his short life
Casey “Trip” touched the hearts of so
many through his poetry, music and
art. He loved family and friends,
making people laugh, the outdoors,
movies and video games. Casey was an
advocate for the homeless and at-risk
teens through “Peace Through the
Streets by Kids from the Streets” on
Broadway in Seattle. Casey knew he
would be famous and he is in all our
hearts. Casey will be truly missed.

Dayton James Isaacson
4/11/2004 - 6/23/2004
On June 23rd, 2004, we lost our little
angel. He was only here for a short
time, and was loved more than anything
in the world by everyone. He loved to
be held and talked to. All of us will
miss him so very much. Dayton was death by his great-
grandma Joanne Ruswick; uncle Chris
Rathjen; and cousin Jerrad Ennen.
Dayton is survived by his parents;
brothers Skyler & Joshua Isaacson;
sister Leigh Isaacson, all of
Bellingham. Also survived by
grandparents Dennis & Cheri Rathjen of
Bellingham, Nola Isaacson of South
Carolina, and Jeff Isaacson of
Bellingham; along with numerous other
relatives.
Memorials may be made to SIDS Network,

our Local Support Officers, (Support
Officer Community Care, PO Box 1102,
Bellingham, WA 98227). Funeral
Services will be held at Westford
Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 29th at
2:00 PM, followed by a Graveside
Service at Bayview death by
his grandmother, Cherie Lynn Scott-Sears.
He is survived by his parents and his
forever loving family. A Celebration
of Connor’s Life will be held at
Westford’s Broadway Hall, 1300
Broadway, on Sunday, May 16, 2004 at
11 AM. The Celebration will be a potluck
and anything that you can bring would
be appreciated. Memorials may be made
to Children’s Hospital, Cardiology Unit
at P.O. Box 50020, Mail Stop S200,
Seattle, WA 98145-5020.

William M. “Bill” Smith born January 8, 1920 to Ira and
Kathryn (Remley) Smith. Bill death by his
sister Kathryn Hill. Bill is survived
by his wife Dorothy, son Allen Smith
(Phyllis) of Boise, ID, daughters Rita
Smith of Bellingham and Dottie Parriera
(Bill) of Stockton, CA, brother Jack
Smith of Bellingham, sister Mary Jane
Washington of Texas, 8 grandchildren
and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held
Saturday, November 12 at 1 PM at
Bayview Cemetery with Military Honors
by U.S. Marine Corps, Whidbey Island. A
reception will follow at the Squalicum
Boathouse at Zuanich Point. Memorials
may be made to the Salvation Army.
