Lyla J. Lant, age 94 born March 13, 1912
to Sherman and Clara (Martinson) Strand
in Friday Harbor, where she spent her
first 6 years. The family then moved to
Bellingham where she has lived ever
since. Lyla death by husband
Harold in 1994. She is survived by
daughter Pat (husband Jim) Grenfell of
Sedro-Woolley, son Steve (wife Linda)
Lant of Poulsbo, granddaughter Julie
Grenfell of Mount Vernon, grandson Ryan
(wife Tracy) Lant of Incline Village,
NV and their children Cody and Sam,
brother Carroll (wife VeNita) Baker of
Orange, CA, and special step-grand and
great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Harold &
Lyla Lant Pre-Law Scholarship, WWU
Foundation, 516 High St., MS 9034,
Bellingham, WA 98225-9034 or to Whatcom
Hospice. Burial will be held at Bayview
City passed away

Frank E. Tack
8/26/1913 - 7/18/2006
Frank E. Tack, age 92, of Bellingham,
born August 26, 1913
in Bellingham to Julian & Mary Tack. He
death by his wife
Reberta in 2004. Frank is survived by
son Brian (Linda) Tack of Iowa;
daughter Karen (Steve) Goldman of
Maryland; daughter Kristin (Jerry) Ely
of Bothell; Grandchildren: Jessie
(Emilie) Tack; Ryan (Amy) Ely; Sara
Ely; Matthew Goldman; and Great-
Grandson: Avery Ely.
Memorials may be made to the Shuksan
Eden Fund, 1530 James St. Bellingham,
WA 98225. A Celebration of Frank’s
Life, with reception, will be held on
Sunday, July 23, at 12:00 noon at the
Roeder Home, 2600 Sunset Drive in
Bellingham. Family graveside services
will be held at Bayview City born
June 11, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Harry
and Antonia Stasinos. When Pearl
Harbor was bombed, Alexander
immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy
and proudly served our country in WWII
in the South Pacific. 1944 he met his
future wife Thelma and they death by son Harry
Stasinos and sister Georgia Zafiratos.
He is survived by wife Thelma of
Bellingham, brother George (Louise) of
Chicago, sister Grace Vasiliadis
(Peter) of Chicago, sister in law
Helen Griffin of Bellingham, niece
Kathy Capp and her sons Cole (Bobby)
and Cade (Kelli) and their sons Jaxon
and Benny; niece
Voula Parks (Tim) and children Kallee,
Jaimee and Loree Foote (Brandon);
granddaughter Stephanie Young (Brian)
and children Tanner, Hailee and
Kaytee; and numerous relatives in
Chicago. Memorials may be made to St.
Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 510 E.
Sunset Drive, Bellingham, 98225.
Trisagion Services will be held at St.
Sophia Greek Orthodox Church on Mon.
Sept. 25 at 7 PM. Funeral Services
will be held at St. Sophia on Tues.
Sept. 26 at 11 AM followed by a
reception at the church. Burial will
follow at Bayview City died peacefully a home on October 12,
2006. The only child of Nicholas and
Elizabeth Manolis, she was born.
In 1947 Vivian followed her husband to
the U.S. with Charles. For the next 15
years, first in New York, subsequently
in Los Angeles, she supported her
husband’s career, both emotionally and
financially, working in fashionable
shops like Rothschild’s of Beverly
Hills while Stephen completed studies
towards his Ph.D. It was during this
time their younger son Nicholas was
Cemetery. A reception
will follow at the church.
