Beverly Joanne Thramer

Bev Thramer, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 22, 2006, at home in Bellingham. She was born June 10, 1933, in Sedro Woolley, to Fred and Edna Bryant. She graduated from Sedro Woolley High School in 1951, where she was on the Honor Roll. She married Gene Thramer on Feb. 14, 1953, and they have been active members of Assumption Catholic Church for over 53 years. Bev was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker, and while raising three children, she also played a supporting role as den mother and PTA member. When her children all entered school, it was time for the ever-ambitious Bev to move on to new careers. She worked as a legal secretary and tax consultant for numerous firms. She became so proficient during H Block's busy tax time that they persuaded her to teach classes to new employees. Bev and Gene also belonged to Western Squares, where they enjoyed square dancing and round dancing. They also traveled extensively throughout the United States researching family genealogy. After Bev and Gene completed their two family genealogy books, it was time for a new challenge, and Bev turned to quilting. She started in 1990 and joined a group called the Dear Heart Quilters. She has handmade amazing, beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren and many other family members. Since playing cards has always been another passion of Bev and Gene's, Cordata was a perfect retirement community for them. They could be found four or five nights a week engaging in some kind of card game at the Cordata Activity Center. Bev also belonged to the Country Club Bridge Club, where she played several times a year. Beverly was a beautiful, talented, active, well-liked person and a great friend to many. She will be truly missed as she moves on to her next great challenge and accomplishment. Bev is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gene; son, Jerry Thramer (wife, Kathy) and their children, Ryan Thramer and Todd Thramer (fiancee, Breeana) all of Bellingham; son, David Thramer (wife, Pearl) of Bellingham; daughter, Jodi Ericksen (husband, Chuck) and their children, Brittany, Kayla and Jesse, all of Williamsburg, Virginia; sisters, Darlene Soderberg (husband, Arnold) of Sedro Woolley, and Joyce Marsula of Bellingham; and great-granddaughter, Kylie Thramer. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Funeral Services will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 1st at 12 noon, followed by a reception across the street at Westford's Broadway Hall. Fr. Frank Schuster will be officiating. Private family interment will be held at Bayview Cemetery.
Edward Terpsma

Edward Terpsma, age 90, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus August 13, 2006. He was born May 5, 1916 in Lynden. Ed loved baseball and was proud to pitch for the 8th grade Lynden Christian baseball team. He was happily married to Flora Terpsma for 61 years. Ed was one of the original builders of Grand Coulee Dam. He believed his long life was due to the prayers of his mother. He was a faithful and devoted family and church member. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Terpsma in 2003. Ed is survived by his son Steve (Helen) Terpsma of Bellingham; daughter Colleen (David) Dickinson of Lummi Island; son, Michael Terpsma of Michigan; daughter, Sally Van Boven of Bellingham; son, Mark (Ellen) Terpsma of Bellingham; brother, Gerrit (Wilma) Terpsma; sisters, Effie Neville and Sylvia Zwyns; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden, on Friday, August 18 at 2 PM followed by a reception at Faith Community Church, 586 Birch Bay Rd. Frank Buzza Travis

Frank B. Travis, age 85, of Bellingham, passed away Aug. 30, 2006. He was born June 5, 1921 in Marion, Iowa, to Milo and Edith (Buzza) Travis. Frank married Margaret Lambertsen on March 17, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Frank was a Captain in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the 774th Field Artillery in the European Theatre. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1948 and lived and worked as an engineer in Brazil, from 1951 to 1979. He and Margaret have lived in Whatcom County, since 1979. He was a member of I.E.E.E, Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, Bellingham and Squalicum Yacht Clubs, U.S. Navy League, American Legion, V.F.W., Mt. Baker MG Club, A.A.R.C. and the Whatcom Maritime Society. He is survived by wife, Margaret of Bellingham, son, Steven (wife, Suzanne) Travis of Mercer Island, WA, and their daughters, Stephanie, Jennifer and Christina. A family gathering will be held.
Helen Margaret Thiel

Helen M. Thiel, age 85, of Bellingham, went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2006. She was born June 6, 1920 in Sedro Woolley, WA, to John and Hilda Lindstrom. Helen was valedictorian of her 1937 graduating class at Sedro Woolley. She graduated from Western Washington College, with a degree in education. It was at Western that she met Hollis, her husband of over 63 years. She was past-president of the Orthopedic Guild and was the administrator of Bible Study Fellowship in the 1970's. Helen taught Sunday School at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and was the leader of her daughter's Girl Scout Troop. She and Hollis were members of Birchwood Presbyterian Church, and until just recently they delivered Meals on Wheels. She was primarily a homemaker and she loved her kids and grandkids dearly. Helen is survived by her husband, Hollis, daughter, Barbara (husband, Gene) McKinney of Snohomish, sons, Howard (wife, Judy) Thiel of Everett and Jim (wife, Janice) Thiel of Mill Creek, grandchildren, Amy, Ann, Jeff, Eric, and Michelle, and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Birchwood Presbyterian Library Fund, 400 Meadow Brook Ct., Bellingham, 98226. A Celebration of Helen's Life will be held at Birchwood Presbyterian Church (N. Cordata Pkwy) on Fri. March 31 at 2:30 PM followed by a reception at the church. Pastor Bud Lee will be officiating.
