William C. 'Bill' Keyes II

Bill Keyes, age 80 of Bellingham,
born December 28, 1928 in Buffalo, NY
to Roswell and Edith Keyes. The family
moved to Bellingham in 1940. He
death by his
parents. He is survived by his wife of
59 years, Laurine; sons William (Pam),
Roswell (Karla), Rick (Terri) and Pete
(Adeline), daughters Carol A. Keyes-
Bentley and Kris (Steven) Halterman;
grandchildren Bill, Dan, Kim, Erica,
Jeremy, Chad, Kyle, Allen, Logan, Kara,
Denise, Steven, Kraig and Brett, and
numerous great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Lighthouse
Mission, PO Box 548, Bellingham, WA
98227. A Vigil Service will be held at
Westford Funeral Home on Sunday, Mar.
29th at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at Church of the
Assumption on Mon. March 30th at 10:30
AM followed by a reception at the
parish hall. Burial will follow at
Bayview City died Wednesday,
March 11th, at the age of 102.
Tut was Born to an Icelandic family in an
Icelandic community, Tut learned to
read and speak English when he began
attending public school.
Despite his family’s relative poverty,
through his hard work and determination
he graduated from the University of
North Dakota Law School in the midst of
the Great Depression. After practicing
law in North Dakota for about one year,
Tut ultimately moved to Washington at
the urging of his close friend Johnny
Westford. In Bellingham he met Esther,
who was best friends with Veronica
Rocke (Johnny’s future wife). Tut and
Esther were death by Esther, his
wife of 53 years, and seven of his
siblings. He is survived by his
children, Judy Hanson, Barbara Schmidl,
Mark Asmundson (wife Tatiana) and Steve
Asmundson; sister Ann Dopp, brother
Swain Asmundson, long time close friend
Marilyn Walker and loads of
grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Bellingham
Central Lions Club or Whatcom Hospice.
Visitation will be held at Westford on
Sunday, March 15th from 4-6 PM.
Memorial Service will be held at Faith
Lutheran on Monday, March 16th at 2 PM
followed by a reception at the church.
Patrick Arthur Taylor
3/17/1920 - 3/16/2009
Pat went to be with his Lord March 16,
2009, peacefully surrounded by his
family. He was married Myrtle
Caron on Sept. 22, 1951 at the Revival
Tabernacle in Bellingham by Pastor
Leonard White. He worked for Great
Northern & Burlington Northern for 33 ½
years, until his retirement in 1980. He
was a member of Glad Tidings Church and
Fountain Community Church. Pat liked
fishing, playing horse shoes, swimming,
and gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57
years, Myrtle; beloved son Ron of
Bellingham, and grandson Michael of
Burien; sister-in-laws Betty Larson of
Abbotsford and Irma (Arne) Oien of
Marysville; brother-in-laws Ed
(Dorothy) Caron and Roy (Carmen) Caron;
brothers Dan and Tom Taylor of
Bellingham, and Jim (Ruth) Taylor of
Juneau, Alaska; and many nieces,
nephews; and his best buddy, Ron
Bjarnason.
The family wishes to thank Whatcom
Hospice who filled his final days with
love and kindness. Memorials may be
made to Fountain Community Church, 2100
Broadway, Bellingham, WA 98225.
Visitation will be held at Westford
Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, 2009
from 12 Noon – 2:30 PM, followed by a
graveside service at Woodlawn born in Long Beach, CA on March
17th, 1924.
She leaves her son Larry (Sharon)
Gilbert, Qualicum Beach, B.C.;
grandchildren Adam (Dotti) Gilbert,
Nanaimo, B.C.; Jaime (Mike) Melvin,
Orlando, Fl.; Scott Gilbert, Qualicum
Beach, B.C.; Lindsay Gilbert, Victoria,
B.C. and three grandsons - Ethan
Gilbert; Bryden Gilbert and Vincent
Melvin.
Mom will be missed by all of her family
and many friends. A Funeral Mass will
be held at Church of the Assumption on
Wednesday, March 25 at 12 Noon.
