Lorraine Clift
9/12/1917 - 5/18/2002

Lorraine Clift, age 84, passed away on May 18, 2002 at Mt. Baker Care Center.
She was born in Newport, WA, on Sept. 12, 1917.
Lorraine married Russ Clift of Bellingham, WA.
Together, they owned Russ Clift Studio, and worked side-by-side for over 40 years.
Lorraine will be most fondly remembered for her beautiful smile, positive attitude and her kindness to others.
Survivors include her son, Mike Clift (Mary) of Shelton, WA; daughter, Shirlee Dickerson (Gary) of Bellingham; sister, Wilma Cronkhite Sherrard of Bellingham; sister, Marguerite Dreis of Spokane, WA; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy MacGregor and her husband of 61 years, Russ Clift.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23 at Assumption Church in Bellingham.
Remembrance may be made to your favorite charity.

Lillian H. Polly
9/16/1904 - 5/23/2002

Lillian H. Polly, age 97, of Bellingham, WA, passed away May 23, 2002 at Alderwood Park Care Center.
She was born September 16, 1904 in Maud, OK, to William and Sine (White) Horton.
Lillian married Gilbert Polly, April 6, 1929 in Oklahoma.
They moved to Bellingham in 1931, where she was a sales person for BB Furniture.
She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 7, Eastern Star, Maple Leaf Chapter Daughter of the Nile, Past member of American Business Women, a volunteer for Culinary Cruise, Eight and Forty, and was a Pink Lady at St. Luke's Hospital.
Preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Polly in 1961 and her son, Gilbert Polly in 1968.
Survived by her grandsons, Rick Polly of Ferndale, Donald Polly of Bellingham, a granddaughter, Linda Metzler of Bellingham, a brother, Robert Horton of Amarillo, TX, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
Memorial services will be held at Westford Funeral Home Chapel, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002.
Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Darlene Lucille Holquinn
7/21/1921 - 4/18/2002

Darlene Lucille Holquinn passed away peacefully at home on Thursday evening, April 18, 2002, after a very brief bout with cancer.
She was 80 years old.
She was born Darlene Lucille Martin on July 11, 1921 in Naper, Nebraska, to Hilda Mayer and Gustav Martin.
They moved to Westley, CA, when she was 7 years old, where her father worked for the Irrigation District.
Darlene married Francis A. Holquinn in 1939 and remained married for 51 years, until his death in 1990.
They retired and moved to Bellingham, in 1976, where she worked at Town and Country Cleaners for a while in the late 1970's.
Aside from her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Edwin Martin, a sister, Virginia Baker and a son-in-law, Josh L. Wentz.
She is survived by a brother, Erwin Martin of Stockton, CA, her sisters, Vonda Thompson of Modesto, CA, and June Fena of Lodi, CA, daughters, Patricia A. Holguin of La Jolla, CA, Suzanne M. Wentz and Francene A. Traber of Bellingham, WA, grandchildren, Ocean A. Wentz of Las Vegas, NV, Anthony M. Wentz and Corainne J. Traber of Bellingham, WA.
Darlene was devoted to her children and husband.
She volunteered as Den Mother for Patricia's Brownie troop and for many years, helped with Frank's horsemen's activities in California.
She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and the Emblem club in Modesto, CA.
Darlene had a very close relationship with her Aunt Martha, who was born on the same day.
She delighted in sharing stories about her "twin Aunt."
Her grandchildren were her most treasured occupation, as she was their primary baby-sitter in their youth while their parents were working.
A Memorial service will be held at Westford Funeral Home Chapel 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2002 with Fr. Frank Schuster officiating.
Memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice.

Herbert E. Crape
2/2/1928 - 5/28/2002

Herbert E. Crape, age 74, of Bellingham, WA, passed away May 28, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born February 2, 1928 in Bellingham, WA to Emil and Minnie (Elsner) Crape.
Herbert was a graduate of Meridian High School. .
March 13, 1951, he married Shirley Fiedler in Bellingham, WA.
Mr. Crape worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 23 years before retiring.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Birchwood Garden Club, American Orchid Society and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Minnie Crape and brothers, Herman and Robert Crape.
Survived by his wife, Shirley Crape of Bellingham; a daughter, Mary Ann and husband, Ed Essig of Ferndale; a son, Daryl Crape and wife, Lea of White House, TN; brothers, Alfred Crape and wife, Marilyn and Elmer Crape and wife, Doris both of Bellingham; three step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Valerie Kay Fields
12/24/1958 - 5/21/2002

Val Fields, age 43, of Bellingham, WA, passed away May 21, 2002 in Glacier, WA.
She was born December 24, 1958 in San Diego, CA to Donald and Joyce (Manring) Fields.
Val graduated from San Dieguito High School in Encinitas, CA, and from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA.
Val worked as a Visiting Angel helping people live with dignity in their own home.
She helped people to have a peaceful transition from life to death.
Val's compassion towards people and generosity of spirit has left a lasting impression on our hearts.
She embodied a deep sense of beauty and love of nature.
Her passion and joy were expressed through her resonant laughter, sparkling eyes and especially her music.
Her sweet voice will linger in our hearts and souls forever.
Val will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.
Survived by her mother, Joyce Fields of Spokane, WA; brothers, Larry Fields and wife, Nancy of Chattaroy, WA, Alan C. Fields and wife, Arlene of Oceanside, CA; nephews and nieces, Justin C. Fields, Larry Dean Fields, II, Tonya, Alicia, and Daniel Whiting; loving friends, Judith Bodner, Pam Turner, Maggi Kriger, Lois Canright, Barbara Buys and Lisa Carlson. Preceded in death by her father, Donald Fields in 1983.
