September 21, 1923 in Jacksonville, FL
to William and Maude McDonald. Dorothy
death by her husband Earl Palmer in
1985, her brothers, William and Robert
McDonald, and a sister, Alma Ayers.
Survived by her daughter, Jennifer and
Chic Colyer of Kendall, WA; daughter
Marian and Dave Berg of Ferndale, WA,
daughter Susan and LeRoy Hall of
Mukilteo, WA and sister Evelyn Johnson
of Jacksonville, FL.; 14 grandchildren
and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation
will be held at Westford Funeral Home
Friday noon to 2:00pm and Saturday,
10:00am to 11:00am followed by funeral
services at 11:00am July 13, 2002. A
reception will follow across the street
at the Aftermath Hall. Memorials may be
made to your favorite charity.
Blanche Mae Graham
11/17/1917 - 7/10/2002
Blanche Graham Born in Troy, Idaho November 17, 1917,
Blanche lived most of her life in
Whatcom County. She born in Seattle in 1943.
The Graham family moved to Bellingham in
1945 where son John was died in 1972, Blanche
remained in Bellingham and stayed
active with the Unity Church. She sang
for years with the Sweet Adelines and
conducted them briefly before they
disbanded. Most recently, she
conducted the Note-ables, and sang in the trio
group Harmony Express as well as in
the Unity Church choir.
Blanche always had an abundance of
love to give and was generous in sharing
it. She loved her many friends, and
her family, including her children,
grandchildren, and nieces and nephews
in the US and Canada. Her positive
attitude and vibrant enthusiasm for
life guided her through health
struggles and heartache, and inspired
those who knew and loved her.
Blanche is survived by sister-in-law
Isabella Graham of Bellingham, WA;
daughter Cathie Henry and son-in-law
James Henry of Lakewood, CO; son, John
Graham and daughter-in-law Linda
Collins of State College, PA; daughter-
in-law Carolyn Graham of Maple Valley,
WA; Ekrem Cifter of Istanbul, Turkey;
three grandchildren and one great-
grandchild; and a host of loving
cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and
neighbors.
A graveside service will be held at
10:00 am Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at
Greenacres Memorial Park, 5700
Northwest Drive, Ferndale. A Memorial
Service will be held at 1:00 at the
Unity Church, 1095 Telegraph Road,
Bellingham, followed by a
reception at the church.
The family requests no flowers, and
that gifts be made in the form of a
donation to the donor's favorite
charity or as an act of love and
kindness in Blanche's name.
Darrell Ronald Brostrom

A tragic accident took the life of
Darrell Ronald Brostrom on July 6 2002.
He was 35. Darrell was death by his mother, Carole
Engstad.

Steele of Bellingham, WA; father, Egon
Brostrom of Bellingham, WA; step-
father, Don Engstad and wife Marcie of
Middletown, PA; sisters, Mary and
husband Stew Aldcroft, Cheryl and
husband Fred Hull both of Bellingham,
WA; brother, Neil Newlun of Salt Lake
City, UT; sisters, Melodie Newlun of
Boise, ID, Gail Newlun of
Mechanicsberg, PA, Kristina and husband
Kevin Stoltz of Mt. Joy, PA; brother,
Donne Engstad of Middletown, PA;
nephew, Shawn Hull and wife Jennifer of
Ferndale, WA; Nieces Kristina Hull and
Suzanne Hull both of Bellingham, WA;
nephews Blu Conway of California, Tim
Haynes of Seattle, WA; and niece Sonja
Aldcroft of Bellingham, WA.

Commemoration of Life service and
potluck to be held at Zuanich Park Boat
House 1:00pm Wednesday, July 17, 2002.

Helene Anthony Papadakis
1/1/1919 - 7/22/2002
Helene Anthony Papadakis, age 83 of
Bellingham, WA born January 1, 1919 in St. Louis,
Missouri to Robert and Mabel (Silvey)
Anthony. She was a graduate of San
Pedro High School. Helene death in 1959. She
worked at the family owned Anchor
Liquors in San Pedro, CA. Helene
enjoyed reading and gardening.
Survived by her son, Steve Papadakis
and wife Kathy of Bellingham, WA;
daughter, Kay Papadakis of Arizona;
sisters, Reba Wagner of Denver, CO, and
Shirley Wick of San Pedro, CA; brother,
Jack Saffel of Wilmington, CA; 5
grandchildren, Helen Paul, Luke Paul,
Kim Clinard, Gus Papadakis and Alicia
Papadakis; and 8 great grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at
a later date.
Gretchen Hedberg
1/14/1895 - 7/12/2002
Gretchen Hedberg, of Bellingham, WA,
born January 14, 1895 in Aurora, IL to
Adam and Mary (Peetz) Schoeberlein.
She obtained her schooling in Aurora,
IL and Daytona Beach, FL. Gretchen
was a life member of Eastern Star
Sehome Chapter and First Methodist
Church. She was a member of Bellingham
Senior Center and Button Club of
Seattle. She enjoyed stamp collecting,
sewing, cooking, reading and
traveling. It was Gretchen who
named “Blossom Time” which is now Ski
to Sea. She liked to share her
memories of knowing John D.
Rockefeller, SR., sitting on the church
piano bench with Irving Berlin in
Aurora, IL, of her grandmother who was
a cook and nurse, was a good friend of
Abraham Lincoln, and how her father,
Adam, was the fire chief of Aurora for
many years. Gretchen was known for her
youthfulness. She loved the Lord and
her family very much. “Gogo” will be
deeply missed by all.
Preceded in death by her parents; her
husband, Day Hedberg; a sister, Ella
Leins and a brother, Earl Schoeberlein.
Survived by her daughter, Marjorie and
husband William Masters of Bellingham;
granddaughters, Mary and husband Dean
Romond and Heidi Unick all of
Ferndale; great-granddaughters, Amy and
Carrie Unick of Ferndale; great-
grandsons, Nathan and Sean Romond of
Ferndale.
Memorial services will be held at
Westford Funeral Home Chapel, 11:00am
Wednesday, July 17, 2002. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made to
Old Town Christian Ministries, 211 E.
