Sara Ames Waller

Sara Ames Waller passed away peacefully on May 1, 2003 at home on Lummi Island with her son and family by her side as the morning sun broke through the window and an eagle soared by.
Sara was a sixth generation Oregonian born on March 6, 1949 to Dr. Fredrick O. and Nancy Waller.
Sara grew up in Portland, attended the University of Oregon and graduated from Oregon State.
She was proud of her pioneer heritage and throughout her life followed her family genealogy.
Sara loved to write and was still working on the Great American Novel until the time of her death.
She taught at Woodlawn elementary school and had a passion for teaching and instilling in her students the importance of being lifelong learners.
Sara’s proudest accomplishment was her son, Steban Waller.
After retiring from teaching, she moved to Lummi Island, where she felt surrounded and supported by friends and the beauty of the island.
Sara is survived by her son, Steban Waller and his partner, Amy Munsterman; brothers, Dr. Frederick T. and wife, Nancy Waller, Dr. Edmund K. and wife, Chiara Waller; sisters, Polly Patton and partner, Barry Bearard and Judge Nan G. Waller and husband, Paul Bovarnick, as well as nine beloved nieces and nephews.
Sara’s compassion, spirit and dramatic flare will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Lummi Island, on May 18, 2003.
Ervin Jacob Klemann
8/14/1921 - 5/14/2003
Ervin Jacob Klemann, age 81, of Bellingham, died May 14, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born August 14, 1921 in Bucyrus, North Dakota, to George and Esther (Holler) Klemann.
Ervin married Isabelle Susan Berwick on Sept. 21, 1940 in Longvale, CA.
He lived most of his adult life in and around Bellingham, and retired from Mt. Baker Plywood in 1986 after 30 years of employment.
He was a very hardworking man who loved his family and all animals.
He loved working in the hayfields every summer with his family.
He is survived by his wife Isabelle of the family home; daughters, Edith Ervina Fagin (Larry) and Susan Edwina Mills (Carl), both of the Everson area; grandchildren, Susan Carlene Molendyk (Dennis), Mark Allen Fagin, and Sandra Carla Mills (Eddie), all of the Everson area; great-grandsons Dakota Jacob Fawcett, Shawn Carl Molendyk, Daniel Molendyk and Devon Molendyk; brothers, Herbert Klemann and Aldon Klemann, both of Bellingham; sisters, Bernice Lukas, Violet Arbogast, Verna Niderost and Doris Moir, all of Ukiah, CA.
Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Monday, May 19th from 12-5.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Westford Funeral Home, followed by a reception in the chapel and burial at Nooksack Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
Fred Cyril Filgiano
5/29/1917 - 5/24/2003
Fred Filgiano, age 85, of Bellingham, passed away at the Mt. Baker Care
Center on Saturday, May 24, 2003.
He was born to Frederick & Nora (Costello) Filgiano in New Westminster, B.C. on May 29, 1917.
He attended school in Vancouver, British Columbia, and served in the Canadian Armed Forces, where he was a trumpet player for the Canadian Army Band.
Fred married Joan Tremblay in 1941.
After World War II, Fred spent his time as a musician as well as in deep-shaft gold mining.
Fred and Joan moved to join family in the Los Angeles area in 1946.
Fred moved to Bellingham, in 1996 and enjoyed his later years here, participating in many activities with his friends at Sacred Heart Parish.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Filgiano, in 1989.
He is survived by his son, Jerald and wife, Mary Filgiano of Seattle; brother, Thomas Filgiano of California; and sisters, Mary Nadeau, Dorothy Klyne, Florence Cruickshank, and Patricia Taylor, all of British Columbia.
Also survived by two grand-daughters, Jamie Venegas and Jennifer Payne of California, along with four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 30 at 12:00 Noon, at Sacred Heart Church.
A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church.
Larry Alfred Barnes
8/11/1935 - 5/19/2003
Larry Barnes, age 67, of Bellingham, passed away in Bellingham on Monday, May 19, 2003.
He was born to Lawrence and Nellie (Rowley) Barnes on August 11, 1935 in Cedar City, Utah.
He moved to Washington State in 1947, and in 1955, at the age of 20, Larry enlisted into the United States Navy, where he served for five years.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Jackie and Michelle Barnes; sons Larry, Tony, Christopher, and Brian Barnes, along with his good friend Dottie Black.
Memorials may be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Warren Maurice Ford
2/26/1928 - 5/6/2003
Warren M. Ford, age 75, of Bellingham, WA, passed away May 6, 2003 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Warren was born February 26, 1928 to Charles and Esther (Benseth) Ford in Bellingham.
He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1946 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a military policeman.
Warren was married to Gail Lidbeck in October of 1969 and he was employed at Diehl Ford for 37 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a past member of the Bellingham Elks and an active member at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed travel, woodworking, fishing, and refurbishing automobiles.
Warren was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ford, in 1931; his mother, Esther Ford, in 1962; and his brother, Robert C. Ford in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Ford.
Visitation will be held on Thursday 12:00 to 5:00pm at Westford Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at Bayview Cemetery at 10:00am on Friday, May 9, 2003 followed by an 11:00am memorial service at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Heidi Fish officiating.

Doris M. Werner
Born in Seymour, MO on Jan. 13, 1909
Departed on Jul. 11, 2007 and resided in Lynden, WA.
Doris M. Werner, a precious Mom, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wed. July 11, 2007 at age 98.
A long-serving pastor’s wife and 1st grade teacher in Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois, she is remembered for her love of children with special needs.
She was married 50+ years to the Rev. Loyal E. Werner (deceased in 1991).
She is survived by her son, Dr. Lance D. Werner (Ph.D. Univ. of Washington), a Geography professor for 18 years at Trinity Western University.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 20, 2:00 pm at Third Christian Reformed Church, 514 Liberty St., Lynden.

She will be missed greatly for her spunk, loving dedication to disadvantaged children and a smile that could light up any darkness
Tony Wilson
Born in Caldwell, Idaho on Sep. 22, 1980
Departed on Jul. 12, 2007 and resided in Lynden, WA.
Anthony Christian Wilson, age 26, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 12, 2007.
We will gather to celebrate Tony’s life on Thursday, July 19, at Noon in the Jake Maberry Gymnasium at Lynden High School with Pastor Craig Hardinger officiating.
The celebration will be preceded by a graveside service in Lynden Cemetery at 11:00 am.
Tony was the oldest child and only son of Jeff and Sandy Wilson.
He was born in Caldwell, Idaho on September 22, 1980 and moved with his family to Lynden, from McCall, Idaho in 1991.
He graduated from Lynden High School in 1999 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Washington University.
He began his career this past year as a financial planner at Merrill Lynch Investment Services in Bellingham.
Tony had a deep love for sports.
He excelled in football, basketball, and baseball in high school and football for WWU.
He shared his passion and knowledge of the game by coaching basketball at Meridian High School and football at Lynden High School.
Tony was kind, gentle and outgoing.
He loved deeply and generously and was a dedicated friend to many.
He gave freely of his time and was active in several community organizations including the Lynden Pioneer Museum Board, Lynden Masonic Lodge #56, and Toastmasters International.
He was in the process of bringing his passion for golf and youth sports together by organizing a benefit golf tournament that will take place August 10 and will be renamed in his honor.
Tony is survived by his parents, Jeff and Sandy Wilson, and sister, Jenn Wilson of Lynden, the love of his life, Bree Brandt of Laurel; maternal grandmother, Donna Lowrance, paternal grandparents, Harold and Mary Wilson and maternal great-grandmother, Wilma Edick of Homedale, ID. and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Fisher.
Visitation hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 18, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.
