Larry Thomas Prather

Larry T. Prather born April 12, 1939 to Ira and Doris
Prather in Bellingham. He attended
Franklin grade school in Bellingham,
middle school and high school in
Ferndale and graduated from Bellingham
High School in 1957. After graduation
Larry served in the Navy as a boatswain
mate for two years. His working years
involved driving a door to door milk
delivery truck for Darigold, working
for O.N.C. Motor Freight, and driving
his own long haul truck for 25 years.
Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing,
restoring old cars and trucks, and
mostly being with his dogs Molly and
Missy. He was preceded in passed away on July 20,
2003 in Bellingham. He was Cemetery on Wednesday, July
30 at 10:30 am. Memorials to help for

John Mratinich
9/6/1905 - 1/17/2003
John Mratinich, age 97 of Bellingham,
WA, born September 6, 1905
on the island of Vis in Croatia to
Anton and Jerka (Zitko) Mratinic. In
1929 he immigrated to Canada. In
Vancouver he studied English at night
school. In his zeal to learn and get
ahead he was never without his
dictionary, earning him the
nickname "Dictionary Johnny." He
landed a job on a salmon seiner which
launched his long career centered
around commercial fishing. He
relocated to California and fished for
tuna. He was president of the
Fisherman's Union in San Pedro, and
served two years in the Army, stationed
in Los Angeles, working his way up to
Sergeant. He death by his wife, Catherine, in 2000.
He is survived by his daughters
Kathleen Mratinich of Richmond
California and Veronica Mratinich
Benvenga and husband Jim of Seattle,
and grandchildren Jessica, Nicholas and
Zachary. A vigil service will be held
at Westford Funeral Home, 7 p.m.
Thursday, January 23, 2003. Funeral
Mass will be held 12 noon, Friday,
January 24, 2003 at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church with celebrant Fr.
Frank Schuster. Memorials may be made
to Whatcom Maritime Association,

Charles W. Allen
6/22/1926 - 1/21/2003
Charles W. Allen, age 76 of Bellingham,
WA born June 22, 1926
to Howard and Esther Allen. He passed away Saturday, Mar 1st, 2003.
She was married Harold Akin in
Bellingham in 1935. Edna Mae lived in
Chicago, IL for 11 years and in
Bellingham for the rest of her life.
She worked for the Bloedel Donovan
Mill, Columbia Valley and the City of
Bellingham. She belonged to Eastern
Star, Daughters of the Nile, Bellingham
Yacht Club and Bellingham First
Congregational Church. Hobbies include
knitting, crocheting, needlepoint,
cross stitch, reading and playing cards
with long time friends. She was a very
talented high school athlete, an
outstanding professional woman, world
traveler devoted loyal family member
and friend. Her travels include trips
to Tai Pei, Hong Kong and Ireland. She
was a beautiful lady who touched every
life with goodness and grace, and a
gift to all who were privileged to know
her. Her Canadian cousins are thankful
for having her grace the families for
all the years. During her later years
Edna Mae enjoyed the dedicated care by
wonderful caregiver friends Deanna and
Lisa. She is survived by her loving
family and friends. Memorials may be
made to Hospice of Whatcom County or a
charity of your choice. Visitation will
be at Westford Funeral Home Wed., Mar.
5 from 12-5. Funeral Services will be
held at Westford Funeral Home Chapel on
Thurs. Mar 6th at 10:00am followed by a
reception in the chapel and a graveside
service at Greenacres.
