Charles Robert "Bob" LeCocq
12/25/1933 - 7/10/2003
Charles Robert LeCocq, age 69, went to be with his Lord on July 10, 2003.
He was born in Seattle, on Dec. 25th 1933, the only child to Charles Edward and Elizabeth Marie (Arnold) LeCocq.
Bob was a 1952 graduate of Bellingham High School.
He is survived by his wife, Claire; son, Robert and wife, Joan; grandchildren, Catherine, Tim, Amy and Jesse; son, Steve and wife, Cathi, grandsons, Ryan and Dustin; stepdaughter, Melissa and Troy Steiner, grandchildren, Brooke, Nic, Keith; stepdaughter, Linda and Scott McGarvey, grandchildren, Bryan and Brandon.
Some of his favorite things in life were Family, Friends, Flight, Fishing and Fields of Strawberries.
Bob was the first of three generations growing up at Lake Samish.
Although his love of the outdoors made him appreciate the natural beauty of all the states and countries he traveled through, his fishing hat always hung at the Lake.
A military veteran committed to Honor and Country, Bob served in the Marine Corps in the Korean War and later as an Army helicopter pilot in Vietnam.
Bob truly lived a life with his head in the clouds.
From the early days of bi-wing crop dusters, through many years of military aviation, as a helicopter pilot on a tuna boat off the coast of New Zealand, and owner of numerous flying machines, it wouldn't have surprised anyone if he had sprouted wings of his own.
A real people-lover; A salesman by nature.
Bob's life of people and products included an amazing variety from Fuller brush to encyclopedias, mobile homes to muffins, there's probably even a few kitchen sinks out there with his brand on them.
Although Bob had been physically challenged in the past number of years, his sense of humor always shined through.
One of his last accomplishments, as he put it, was making it through one more strawberry season.
He ate berries every single day for the past month.
At his request, there will be a Celebration of Life at the beach.
On Saturday, July 26 from 2-5 p.m., join his family and friends for a celebration of music, lake tours, fish stories, Bob's famous chili and of course, strawberry shortcake.
This will be held at 624 West Lake Samish Dr., or the Samish Park Day Lodge, if it rains.
