Nonabelle Haws Marten, age 89, of
Bellingham, WA, born February 5,
1914 in Chapin, Michigan to Roy and
Gertrude (Berg) Hall.
She was preceded in passed away
January 13, 2004 in Bellingham. She
was born in
Huntington, Oregon, May 16, 1912.
Marjorie was a member of the Bellingham
Senior Center, Burlington Eagles,
Goshen Grange and the Ferndale American
Legion. Marjorie was preceded in passed away January 20,
2004 while on a cruise to Mexico.
Lloyd was married
Ardis Carman. They had three children
and resided in Nooksack for the next 35
years, later moving to their current
home on Lake Whatcom.
Lloyd retired from the Whatcom County
Road Department after 30 years of
service. He spent two Christmas
seasons as Santa Claus at Bellis Fair
Mall. Lloyd loved the outdoors. He
especially loved fishing and camping
and the occasional hunting trip. He
spent all the time he could outside.
Chopping wood was a favorite hobby. He
also enjoyed bowling.
He was a wonderful father and
grandfather. He spent many hours
babysitting with grandchildren and
enjoyed attending anything they were
involved in be it sports or music.
Lloyd was always helping relatives,
neighbors and friends, building
something or fixing something. He and
Ardis spent much of their retirement
years traveling in their motorhome all
over the U.S. making many friends along
the way.
Lloyd was a lifetime member of the
Lynden VFW. He also was a lifetime
member of the Disabled American
Veterans and the Fountain Community
Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years
Ardis, three children and their
spouses, Carman and Robin Bunker, Jody
and Carl Dewey, and Connie and Larry
Moran. He had 9 grandchildren. He is
also survived by one brother and four
sisters. His parents Harry and Inda
Bunker and two brothers preceded him in
death. Memorials may be made to
Fountain Community Church, Northlake
Community Church or the Salvation Army.
Funeral Services will be held at
Northlake Community Church on Friday,
January 30, 2004 at 11 AM, officiated
by Rev. Al Currier and Rev. William
Gilfillen. A reception will follow the
service at the church, followed by a
graveside committal service with full
military honors by American Legion Post #7.
Lloyd was a wonderful and loving
husband, father, and grandfather.
