- Lawrence R. "Junior" Retherford Jr., 80, Tomahawk, U.S. Army veteran, formerly employed at Tomahawk Sand and Gravel and Skelgas, also as electrician with Herb Conant and school bus driver, he and wife, Ticy, had owned Hazy Bay Resort on Lake Nokomis for many years, former Tomahawk School Board member (7-29-06; memorial service 8-2-06).
- George J. John, 63, Tomahawk, after three-year fight with lung cancer, worked for Illinois Bell/Ameritech as auto mechanic for 25 years, retiring 1994 (7-26-06).
- John R. Pahnke Jr., 36, Gleason, as result of motorcycle accident, raised in Illinois, moved to Aniwa, then Gleason, employed as carpenter in Shawano (7-24-06).
- Phillip P. Erickson, 74, Tomahawk, following accident reported above, employed at Packaging Corporation of America-Tomahawk mill 39 years, retiring in 1995, worked with grandson at Bethel Excavating nine years (7-24-06; memorials to Phillip Erickson Memorial Fund).
- Lynda Lou Goranson, 64, died in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., following battle with bone cancer, had owned Mrs. G's Supper Club 30 years, former school teacher (7-21-06; memorial service planned in Tomahawk at later date; memorial donations to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405 or Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404.)
- Louise F. Brietzke, 84, Tripoli, lifelong Tripoli resident (7-23-06).

- Betty L. Anderson, 76, Tomahawk, born in Tomahawk and lived here until 1950, then moved to Appleton, returned in 1987 (7-22-06).
- Mary J. Frey, 76, Tomahawk, raised in Milwaukee area, moved to Tomahawk in 1965, employed by Harley-Davidson 19 years, retiring in 1988 (6-28-06).
- Patricia Jean "Patti" Draeger, 49, Wausau, formerly of Crandon.

- Rev. Raymond L. Schoone, 74, formerly of Harrison, died at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill, born on family farm in Harrison, ordained May 31, 1958, celebrated first Mass June 1, 1958, at St. Augustine Church in Harrison, celebrated Silver Jubilee there June 5, 1983, retired 1996 (8-3-06).
- Sister Katherine Rose "Tena" Theiler, 87, at Saint Francis Hospice, Honolulu, Hawaii, born in Tomahawk, resident of Hawaii for 62 years, formerly taught and principal at Maryknoll High School 1964-74, principal of Saint Michael's School in Oahu and Saint Anthony Girls School on Maui, left Hawaii in 1974, returned few years later to launch second career, co-founding Spiritual Life Center, since 1992 carried on special ministry in Hawaii Alcoholism Foundation Sand Island Treatment Center (7-24-06; memorial Mass at St. Mary's Church in Tomahawk at a later date; memorials to Maryknoll Sisters, 2880 Oahu Ave., Honolulu, Hawaii 96822).
- Rose Bradwisch, 56, White Lake, S.D., born in Tomahawk, moved to South Dakota in 1983, employed at Syncom and Trail-King (8-2-06).
- Steven M. Cottrell, 56, Gleason, born in Merrill, previously lived in Appleton, worked for US Paper in Neenah, formerly owned Steve's Timberland Lodge in Hortonville, worked for Consumer One Cooperative in Merrill, Merrill Equipment and Pat Walker Trucking in Tomahawk (8-4-06).
- Delmar W. Petri Sr., 84, Tomahawk, grew up in Wausau, lived in Tomahawk more than 20 years, worked at Babcock & Wilcox in Milwaukee over 30 years, mason in Wausau (7-17-06).
- John W. Drott, 83, memorial service 8-19-06 in Tomahawk, died 6-3-06.
- Lorraine Herrmann, 87, memorial service 8-12-06, 11 a.m., Bradley Park, died 4-6-06, was "mother" to 130 foster children, school bus diver, post office employee, she and husband owned Gene's Live Bait in Pewaukee for 25 years.

- William J. Gruhlke, 68, Tomahawk, moved from Chicago to Tomahawk in late 1950s, worked for Tomahawk Power and Pulp, retired from maintenance at Clear Lake Condominiums (8-21-06).
- Gary O. Hoffmann, 84, died in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., World War II Army veteran with 101st. Airborne Screaming Eagles Division, earning Bronze Battlestar on D-Day, worked as a mechanic (8-9-06).
- Virginia "Virgie" Karl, 80, Tomahawk, born in Tomahawk, owned The Cake Shoppe 1976-89 (8-23-06)
- Published 8-15-06: Sgt. Ryan David Jopek, 20, Merrill, died following roadside bomb in Iraq, 2004 Merrill High School graduate, joined Wisconsin Army national Guard in August 2003, mobilized June 6, 2005, among awards were Bronze Star and Purple Heart (8-2-06; memorial fund at Associated Bank, P.O. Box 527, Merrill, WI 54452 with scholarship to help student participate in Merrill High School athletics and help family restore Ryan's 1966 half-ton Chevy truck.)
