Marilyn M. Schlosser, 44
Marilyn Marie Schlosser, age 44, of Elmwood died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.
She was born Aug. 17, 1954, to Donald and Jean (Faber) Drury. She was raised by Ralph and Margaret Keeley. She attended school at Knapp and Menomonie, graduating from Menomonie High School with the Class of 1972.
On Aug. 10, 1974, she married Joseph Schlosser at the Knapp Methodist Church. They lived and farmed in El Paso Township. She loved fishing, hunting, camping and being outdoors. About eight years ago, she suffered a stroke and her health has not been good since.
Preceding her in death were: her father Ralph Keeley; her grandmother, Ruby Drury: and grandfather, Forrest Drury.
Survivors include: her husband Joe and sons Mike and Danny, all of Elmwood; her mother, Margaret Keeley of Knapp and birth parents Donald Drury of Wheeler and Jean Drury of Boyceville; five sisters, Ellen (Robert G. Jr.) Bemis of Ellsworth, Bonita Keeley of Knapp, Kathy (Keith) Hady of Phillips, Bonnie Bird of Wheeler and Beverly (Bill) Merten of Boyceville; three brothers, Roger (Michelle) Drury of Boyceville, Russell (Geraldine "Tootie") Drury of Boyceville and Raymond (Theresa) Drury of Wheeler. She's also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 27, at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley. Funeral service was Monday, Dec. 28, at Keehr Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Doering officiating. Spring burial will be in Forrest Hill Cemetery, Knapp.
Bearers were: Don Roatch, Chuck Roatch, Jim Yauch, Paul Feyereisen, Steve Schlosser and Mike Webster.
Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley, handled arrangements.

Roy A. Asher, 93
ELMWOOD - Roy A. Asher, age 93, of Arkansaw died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.
He was born Nov. 1, 1905, the son of George and Josephine (Risler) Asher. He was born and raised in the Meridean area of Dunn County, rural Durand. He married Evelyn Borst Aug. 1, 1927, in Laona. They spent most of their married life in and around the Elmwood and Eau Galle communities. He has resided in Arkansaw for the past 20 years.
He is survived by: two daughters, Mary K. Asher of St. Paul and Sara (Howard) McDonough of Durand; four sons, Leroy of Independence, George (Carol) of Marshfield, Patrick (Sharon) of Joliet, Ill., and Michael (Nadine) of Mondovi; 27 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Mulheron of Eau Claire.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Evelyn; three sons, Richard, Thomas and Stephen; one daughter, Theresa; four brothers; and seven sisters.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 20, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Eau Galle. Rev. Roy Mish officiated. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery-Farm Hill, rural Elmwood.

Ragnhild A. Naseth, 100
Ragnhild A. Naseth, age 100, of Red Wing died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at Fairview Seminary Home.
She was born Dec. 25, 1898, in Oslo, Norway, the daughter of John and Bertha (Hoel) Rood. She came to Ironwood, Mich., in 1904, then to Minneapolis in 1905. She attended Longfellow School and graduated from high school in Minneapolis.
She married William M. Naseth Sept. 8, 1917, in Minneapolis. They lived in Dennison, Minn., and Kenyon, Minn., moving to Red Wing in 1934.
She worked at LaGrange Shoe Company from 1939 until retiring in 1954. He died Feb. 26, 1983. She moved to Jordan Towers in 1986. She became a resident of the Seminary Home in 1995.
She was a member of United Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Friendship Club and many other church organizations. She liked to travel, she enjoyed music, playing the piano and violin and she liked to knit.
She is survived by: four children, Ronald (Dorothy) and William (Kathleen) Naseth, both of Red Wing, Marian (Pat) Olson of Faribault, Minn., and Margaret (Donald) Nelson of Ellsworth; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Her husband; one infant daughter; one grandson, Thomas Nelson; one sister, Margaret Rood; and two brothers, Osborne and Lester Rood; all preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Randall D. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Joyce Smith Sarko, 97
Joyce Smith Sarko, 97, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at the River Falls Area Hospital.
She was born Aug. 13, 1901, in Beldenville, the daughter of George and Sara Reed. She grew up in Ellsworth.
She married Jefferson Smith on Nov. 27, 1924, on Thanksgiving Day. He died Dec. 24, 1963. The couple had one child, a son, David, who died Aug. 13, 1994.
She married Stanley Sarko of Scottsdale, Ariz., on May 15, 1971. He died Feb. 10, 1991.
She is survived by: her daughter-in-law, Donna Smith; five grandchildren, Patricia and Fran Neir, Sandra and Mike Wurm, Polly Smith, Stephanie Smith and Mary G. Smith; three great-grandchildren, Melissa and Christian Wurm and Olivia Neir; a brother-in-law, Gordon Smith of Dillon, Mont.; a sister-in-law, Betsey Smith of California; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, George and Sara; her first husband, Jefferson Smith; her second husband, Stanley Sarko; her son, David Smith; two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral was Saturday, Jan. 2, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Delbert Permann officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Cashman Mortuary provided arrangements.

Betty J. Westberg, 65
PRESCOTT - Betty Joyce Westberg, 65, Pepin, died Saturday Dec. 26, 1998, at Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls. The daughter of Clinton and Mildred Seng Raethke, she was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Frankfort and Big Hill schools, graduated in 1951 from Pepin High School, then worked for 1-1/2 years for the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis. She married Dennis Westberg May 2, 1953, in the Lutheran church parsonage in Pepin, and they farmed in Pepin Township all their married life. A member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pepin, she enjoyed quilting and embroidering.
Surviving are: her husband, Dennis, Pepin; three sons, Robert (Toni) of Chetek, Michael (Betty) of Prescott and David (Anita) of Prescott; two daughters, Julie (Kipper) Fagerland of Durand and Jody (Daniel) Haglund of Pepin; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Howard (Marjorie) Raethke of Kenosha and Glen (Myrna) Raethke of Pepin; and one sister, Dorothy (Gene) Swanson of Arkansaw.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Wayne and Roy Raethke.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pepin, with the Rev. Andrew Boe officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Pepin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Goodrich Funeral Home, Durand, and for one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.

Beatrix L. Arndt, 92
Beatrix L. Arndt, age 92, of Ellsworth died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at the Ellsworth Care Center.
She was born March 30, 1906, in Pierce County, the daughter of William and Emma (Gillispie) Orton. She married Arthur Arndt and they farmed in the Town of Hartland. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church until it merged with St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth, where she currently was a member.
She is survived by: a sister, June Schladweiler of Amery; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; an infant son; one sister, Grace Schladweiler; and one brother, William Orton.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth. Burial will be in Our lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Clayfield. Rev. Thomas Donaldson will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 until 11 a.m.

Esther Danielson, 94
Esther Danielson, 94, Rochester, Minn., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at Maple Manor Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for 20 years.
She was born Feb. 27, 1904, in Welch (Minn.) Township to Charles and Thilda (Lindgren) Danielson and attended school in Welch. She worked as an upstairs maid for Walter Hudson in Minneapolis for approximately 40 years. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and spent her free time at the family home in Welch Township.
Survivors include: one niece, Rose (Wayne) Schaar of Ellsworth, and two grandnieces.
Preceding her in death were: one sister, Victoria Nelson; and three brothers, Julius, Axel and Carl.
Funeral was Thursday, Dec. 31, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Iver Torgerson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Gerald 'Jerry' W. Soulis, 59
PRESCOTT - Gerald "Jerry" William Soulis, age 59, of Cannon Falls, Minn. and formerly of Oakdale, Minn. died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999 at Cannon Falls Community Hospital.
He was born May 10, 1939 in St. Paul to William and Emmeline (Adams) Soulis and grew up in St. Paul, graduating in 1957 from Johnson High School. He married Karen Zell May 11, 1963, in St. Paul. He retired after working for Drake Marble in St. Paul for 35 years and currently was working for Berquist Company in Prescott.
He enjoyed flea markets and garage sales, being outdoors and woodcarving.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Rick (Judie) of Lindstrom, Minn., one daughter, Becky (Frank) Hauer of Lindstrom; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6 at First English Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls, wit the Rev. Phillip Ruud officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls and for one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Pallbearers will be Gordon Birkholz, Dwayne Smith, Ernie Roeber, Gary Lindstrom, Chuck Walek and Jim Branch.

Rev. Orville Carter, 94
MAIDEN ROCK - The Rev. Orville E. Carter, age 94, Rochester, Minn., and formerly of Maiden Rock, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester, where he was a resident.
He was born May 22, 1904, in Oakville, Ia., and married DeEtte Dodge Feb. 18, 1928, in Red Wing. He was a pastor in Maiden Rock, Dodge Center, Worthington and Willmar, Minn.; Quincy, Ill.; and Rochester. He was a presbyter for the Assemblies of God for many years and was on the board of regents for North Central University in Minneapolis. He belonged to the Assembly of God in Rochester.
He is survived by: his wife; one daughter, Gloria Lee of Alexandria, Minn.; two sons, Mark of Fort Worth, Tex., and the Rev. Craig Carter of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were an infant son, one brother and four sisters.
Funeral was Jan. 8 at Assembly of God in Rochester with his son, the Rev. Craig Carter, officiating. Burial was in Maiden Rock. Memorials are preferred to the church.

Hannah Dahl, 90
PLUM CITY - Hannah Dahl, age 90, formerly of rural Rock Falls, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at Plum City Care Center in Plum City.
She was born Nov. 7, 1908, in the Town of Rock Creek, Dunn County, the daughter of Ivar and Berta Johnson Stone. She attended the Thompson School in the Town of Rock Creek.
On Nov. 7, 1936, she married Odin Dahl in Eau Claire. They farmed all of their married life on the Dahl home farm in the Town of Rock Creek. She was the first cook at Grandview School, where she worked from 1961 to 1970. He died March 26, 1983.
She moved to The Seasons in Plum City in December of 1996 and has been a resident of Plum City Care Center since February of 1997. She enjoyed being with her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a charter member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
She is survived by: sons, Dennis (Sherry) Dahl of Arkansaw and Richard (Susan) Dahl of Rock Falls; daughter, Beulah "Bea" (Oscar) Feit of Redmond, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Esther Stone of Chetek and Alice Stone of Eau Claire.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ivar and Berta Johnson Stone; husband, Odin Dahl; sisters, Anna Lantz, Emma Dahl, Laura Berg and infant sister, Minna Stone; and brothers, Carl, Ben, Isak, Oskar and Edwin Stone.
Funeral services were Jan. 6 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Rock Falls. Pastor Karl Spicker and Intern Pastor Jennifer Dorr officiated. Burial was in Rock Creek-Meridean Cemetery.
Goodrich Funeral Home of Durand handled arrangements.
