James T. Anderson, 73
PRESCOTT - James Theodore Anderson, age 73, of Prescott died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at River Falls Area Hospital.
He was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Minneapolis, the son of Theodore Victor and Revena (Ada). He graduated from Prescott High School in 1943.
He was married to Arlene Jeanette Larson on Feb. 10, 1951, in St. Paul. He farmed most of his life in Oak Grove Township.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, a lifetime member of River Falls Sportsman Club, past member of River Falls National Guards and past 4-H leader.
Survivors include: his wife, Arlene; sons, Ted (Joy), River Falls, Steve (Becky), Green Bay, Mark of Prescott, Peter (Karrie) of Woodbury, Minn.; daughters, Vicki Paul of Colby, Peggy (Scott) Jensen of River Falls, Amy Anderson/Terry Bettrand of Princeton, Minn.; brothers, Darrell (Milda) Anderson of Osceola; 19 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 21, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Oak Grove Township. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Monte Paul, Patrick Paul, Nicholas Anderson, Teddy Anderson, Jesse Jensen, Paul Jensen, Luke Jensen, Jim Anderson, Bryan Anderson, Tyler Anderson, Clayton Anderson.
Cashman Mortuary of River Falls handled the arrangements.

Thomas J. King, 73
PLUM CITY - Thomas J. King, age 73, of Plum City died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.
He was born Nov. 28, 1925, the son of Thomas J. and Mary (Caturia) King. He was born and raised in rural Arkansaw. He married Viola Gilles May 24, 1945 in Plum City. After marriage they farmed in the Porcupine area, rural Arkansaw. In the early 1950s he worked for the Whirlpool Company in St. Paul and also lived and farmed in rural Plum City. He worked for the Whirlpool Company for 33 years, retiring in 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Viola; two daughters, Diane (Bruce) Borg of Rochester, Minn., Janet (Danny) McDonnell of Maiden Rock; four sons, Dan (Judy) of Plum City, Bob (Carol) of River Falls, Dale (Kathy) of Hudson, Duane (Leah) of Maiden Rock; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Pirri of St. Paul and Lola DeMarce of Arkansaw; one brother, Lyman King of Plum City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Harriet Russ and one sister in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25 at St. John's Catholic Church, Plum City. Rev. Ambrose Blenker will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home, Durand, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday night. Casket bearers will be grandsons.

Marie Renschen, 83
HAGER CITY - Marie Elizabeth Clara Renschen, age 83, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Fairview Seminary Home.
She was born Feb. 28, 1916, in Red Wing to Herman and Elizabeth Roggentine. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and Red Wing Central High School. She worked at a local shoe factory for six years. She married John Renschen May 25, 1939, and he died June 6, 1986. A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, she was active in the Women's Guild and St. Anne's Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and needlework.
She is survived by: four children, Sharon (Charles) Gardas of Hager City, John (Heidi), Thomas (Jean) and Carol (Gary) Dille, all of Red Wing; and eight grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were: her husband, one grandson and a cousin who was raised by her parents.
Memorial services were Friday, Aug. 20, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Walker officiating. Honorary pallbearers were: Jason, Jeffrey and Cary Anne Dille, Andrew, Kendall, Katie, Garrett and Natalie Renschen. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the church.

Floyd B. Husfloen, 65
Floyd B. Husfloen, age 65, of Cumberland, formerly of Beldenville, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Cumberland Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Watertown, S.D., the son of Pearley and Tilda (Bergan) Husfloen. He attended the Morton Corner School. He worked various jobs until opening his own radiator repair business. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier for 21 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the H.E.C.K. Card Club.
He is survived by: four children, Cindy (Clint) Follansbee of Ellsworth, Brenda (Paul) Peske of Circle Pines, Minn., Randy (Cheryl) Husfloen of Ellsworth, and Lanie (Frank) Goodwin, Hager City; six grandchildren; his former wife, Mary Husfloen of Beldenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were held at Hill-McLaughlin Funeral Home, Ellsworth, on Friday, Aug. 20, with Pastor Karna Baseman-Stark officiating. Burial was in the Martell Lutheran Cemetery, Martell.

Arthur H. Lecheler, 80
ELMWOOD - Arthur H. Lecheler, age 80, of Durand died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.
He was born Jan. 3, 1919, the son of Paul and Frances (Bates) Lecheler. He was born and raised in the Farm Hill area of rural Elmwood. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater of War. He married Phyllis Moen Oct. 15, 1946, at Farm Hill. After marriage, they lived and farmed in the Town of Rock Elm, rural Elmwood. In 1969, they moved to Durand. He worked for the City of Durand until he retired in 1984.
He is survived by: his wife, Phyllis; five daughters, Sandra (Daniel) Knott of Eau Claire, Theresa (Douglas) Henderson of Menomonie, Janice (Roger) Spindler of Bay City, Charlene (Dennis) Henderson of Milton, Nancy (Randy) Taylor of Red Wing; two sons, David (Jean) of Billings, Mont., and Arthur P. (Peggy) of Westfield, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Bauer of Elmwood and Margaret Harmon of Durand; four brothers, Romanus of California, Raymond of La Crosse, Alvin of Madison and Peter of Elmwood.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; three grandchildren; and one sister, Agnes Lauer.
Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Durand. Rev. Edward Shuttleworth officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Celia L. Hager, 94
Celia L. Hager, age 94, of Ellsworth died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at the Ellsworth Care Center.
She was born May 25, 1905, in Fayette County, Elgin, Ia., the daughter of George and Louise (Baumgartner) Miller. She moved to Maiden Rock with her family in 1920. She married Clarence Hager Oct. 9, 1923, in Plum City. They farmed in Hartland Township from 1923 until moving to Ellsworth in 1968.
She enjoyed needlework. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Clayfield, and later St. Francis Catholic Church, Ellsworth.
Survivors include: two sons, Francis (Janet) Hager of Bay City and Norman (Virginia) Hager of Ellsworth; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Miller of Ellsworth, Wesley (Lucille) Miller of Pepin; three sisters, Marie Hulverson, Woodville, Louisa (Marlin) Fayerweather of Menomonie and Beatrice (LaVerne) Elberg of Pepin.
She was preceded in death by: her husband on Oct. 25, 1985; three brothers, Louis, Leonard and John; one sister, Edith; and two infant siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Aug. 30, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Ellsworth, with Rev. Thomas Donaldson officiating. Interment was in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Clayfield.

Margaret M. Decker, 84
Margaret M. Decker, age 84, of Red Wing died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Red Wing Health Center.
She was born Aug. 30, 1915, in Featherstone Township, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Fredricka (Prahl) Pohl. She attended rural Featherstone Township school.
She married Bennie Decker Nov. 4, 1939. They lived in the Red Wing area their entire lives. She helped on the family farm until her husband went into construction work.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She enjoyed embroidery work, playing "500" and bingo.
She is survived by: two children, Sharon Rock of Ellsworth and David (Joanne) Decker of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Verna (James) Smith of Red Wing.
Preceding her in death were her husband, six sisters and one brother.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Sept. 3, at Church of St. Joseph, with Father Thomas Walker officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Red Wing.
Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, assisted the family.

Edward A. Garfield, 77
Edward A. Garfield, age 77, of Menomonie died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Myrtle Werth Hospital-Mayo Health System in Menomonie.
He was born April 2, 1922, and raised in Spring Valley, the son of Frank and Clara (Reinkey) Garfield. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1941. After high school, he worked in a creamery in Milwaukee. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He married Betty Huber of Ellsworth on July 25, 1943, in Texas. Following the service, they returned to Wisconsin, where they lived in Baldwin, Lake Delton, Menomonie for 16 years and Spring Valley for 29 years before returning to Menomonie in 1996, where he has remained the rest of his life. During his working years, he worked in the dairy industry, working as a dairy inspector and field man for Mid-America Dairy until he retired in 1984.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; a daughter, Rita (Ronald) Heinecke of Bloomington, Ind.; a son, Gary (Patricia Brown) of Mason; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Garfield of Torrance, Calif.; three sisters, Jeanette Agostini of San Francisco, Helen Mercer of Everett, Wash., and Eleanor Bailey of Sauk Rapids, Minn.
His parents, two sons, Galen and Bruce, a sister, Joyce Sandvig, and a brother, Howard Garfield, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were to be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Menomonie Alliance Church with Rev. Jack Stimmel officiating. Burial was to be in St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Ellsworth Township.

Albert Doerr, 90
HAGER CITY - Albert Doerr, age 90, of Red Wing died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Hi-Park Care Center.
He was born April 24, 1909, in Java, S.D., the son of Jacob and Katherine (Bauder) Doerr.
He married Mary Wentz July 17, 1934, in Bowdle, S.D., where they farmed. They moved to Wisconsin in 1949 and then to Red Wing in 1954. She died April 26, 1995. He worked for Red Wing Flour Mill and ADM for many years, retiring in 1974. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and old-time music.
He is survived by: two daughters, Pat Johnson, Hager City, and Lavon (James) Enevold, Bay City; three sons, Orville (Angie) Doerr, Hastings, Minn., James (Judy) Doerr, Frontenac, Minn., and Lester (Laura) Doerr, Hager City; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were: his wife; three brothers, Jakob, George and Gottlieb Doerr; four sisters, Elisabeth Merkel, Eva Blumhardt, Christine Koch and Caroline Babberl.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. at Laurel Presbyterian Church with Rev. David McDowell officiating. Burial will be in the Burnside Cemetery, Red Wing. Pallbearers will be: Sara Doerr, Steven Doerr, Kim Enevold, Don Johnson, Beverly Mattson and LeRoy Peck.
Visitation will be at the Bodelson-Mahn Chapel on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and on Thursday for one hour prior to the time of services at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Red Wing, handled arrangements.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.

Ralph Finley, 93
PRESCOTT - Ralph Finley, age 93, of Red Wing died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Fairview Seminary Home.
He was born Dec. 4, 1905, in River Falls to William and Emily (Shieck) Finley. In his early years, he was an automobile mechanic who owned and operated garages in several Wisconsin cities including New Richmond, River Falls and Baldwin. He was a corporal in 1928 with the U.S. National Guard of Wisconsin. He married Agnes Carlson in St. Paul and she died in 1978. He moved to Red Wing and opened Ace Hardware, which he operated until retiring. He married Grace Benrud in 1979 in Red Wing and they spent much of their time in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
A member of United Lutheran Church, he served on the Church Council. He also belonged to Red Wing Masonic Lodge, Zurah Shrine Temple, Red Wing Country Club, Red Wing Lions Club, Service Corps of Retired Executives and Bearing Burners Auto Club. He was president of the Red Wing Area Chamber of Commerce in 1967 and a member of Mississippi National Golf Links, where he helped design the first nine holes.
He is survived by: his wife, Grace; two children, Ronald (Nancy) of Colfax and Marion (Lloyd) Wright of Red Wing; two stepdaughters, Barb (Jerry) Strom of Independence, Kan., and Beverly (Robert) Spille of Woodland Park, Colo.; one brother, Roy of Prescott; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were: his first wife, Agnes; one brother, Tom; and one sister, Pauline Finley.
Funeral was Friday, Sept. 3, at United Lutheran Church with the Rev. Andrew Smith officiating. Burial was in Amery Cemetery in Amery. Memorials are preferred to Fairview Red Wing Hospice and the church.

Stella M. Morgan, 102
MAIDEN ROCK - Stella Mae Morgan, age 102, of Red Wing died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at her home.
She was born July 23, 1897, in Maiden Rock, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Ross) Freeman. She graduated from Maiden Rock High School.
In 1915, she married John Sundell. He died in 1925. On June 16, 1929, she married Chauncey Morgan in Red Wing. She lived in Maiden Rock until 1977, when she moved to Red Wing. She was employed at Brownlee Hotel, Balzer Cafe and Red Wing Laundry. She is a past member of Maiden Rock Methodist Church and currently a member of First Covenant Church in Red Wing. She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking and sewing.
She is survived by: three children, Chauncey (Maxine) Morgan Jr. of Red Wing, Janice (Roman) Weber of Highlandville, Mo., and Helen Dahl of Eau Claire; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends at Maple Hills.
She is preceded in death by: her husband in 1955, two sons, one daughter, three sisters and four brothers.
Visitation was to be at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at First Covenant Church with Rev. Richard Theilen officiating. Burial will be in the Maiden Rock Cemetery in Maiden Rock. Pallbearers will be: Gene Hengel, Donald Lamberg, Scott Weber and John Woehrle. Honorary casketbearers will be all her grandchildren.
Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, handled arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
