Kooistra, Arlene L. & John
WOODSTOCK, IL - Arlene L. Kooistra, age 85, and John Kooistra, age 89, died in their home on Tues., Oct. 16, 2001. John followed Arlene in death by 15 minutes. Arlene was born on June 19, 1916, in Woodstock, IL, the daughter of Tillie Aslakson-Pederson and Sigvart Nelson. John was born on April 3, 1912, in Woodstock, IL, the son of Bertha Advocate and Joseph Kooistra. They were married on March 9, 1937 in Woodstock, IL. Arlene was a homemaker and affiliated with First United Methodist Church, Harvard, IL. She was a member of Methodist Women of Hebron Methodist Church; volunteered for the American Red Cross and for Harvard Hospital Auxiliary; member of the Alden Neighborhood Club. She was a member of Harvard Hospital Auxiliary Card Club and enjoyed traveling. John was a lifelong dairy farmer in the Zenda, Greenwood, Hebron and Woodstock area. He was affiliated with First United Methodist Church, Harvard, IL and was a member of the Regional Lung Association Board; board member and vice-president of McHenry Co. Farm Bureau; Alden Township Trustee; former member of Alden-Hebron Grange and Alden-Hebron Schooll Board; board member of McHenry Co. Conservation District and Soil Conservation Family of the Year - 1974; Milk Days Farm Family of the Year - 1974. He loved farming, enjoyed traveling, reading, writing, drawing and keeping a travel diary.
Arlene & John are survived by their 6 children: Anita (Howard) Ryan of Delavan, WI, Karen (Kenneth) Kolls of Alden, Marilyn Gibson of Janesville, Kathleen (David) Benoy of Naperville, John A. (Kay) Kooistra of Tucson, AZ, Joel Kooistra of Woodstock; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers: Nels, Chester and Raymond Nelson; 3 sisters: Agnes Wilson, Thelma Yates and Myrtle Schrage. He is survived by 2 brothers, Jack Kooistra of Roscoe, IL and Henry Kooistra of Fontana, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene L. on Oct. 16, 2001; a sister, Nellie Henning and a brother, Joseph Kooistra.
Funeral services will be held on Sun., Oct. 21, 2001, at 3 p.m., at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1100 N. Division, Harvard, IL with the Revs. Stephen and Kathye Aram co-officiating. Burial will be at Linn-Hebron cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials will be at First United Methodist Church of Harvard or Hospice of N.E. Illinois.

Murray, Catherine R.
April 1, 1920 - June 6, 2002
JANESVILLE - Catherine R. Murray, age 82, formerly of 1329 Sycamore St., died Thurs., June 6, 2002, at New Perspective Assisted Living in Brookfield, WI. She was born in Janesville on April 1, 1920, the daughter of Sylvester and Anna Romanczak, and was a lifelong resident of Janesville. Catherine graduated from Janesville High School and had attended the Janesville Vocational School. She had also passed the Lip Reading course for Sight and Hearing Impaired. Catherine married Harold F. Murray on Aug. 30, 1941, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; he died on Feb. 9, 1997. Catherine was retired from the Dongarra Title Co., and was a member of the Janesville American Legion Organization, the VFW Auxiliary and the SHHH Organization.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia K. (Joseph) Zavagnin of Georgia; a son, Richard H. (Cheryl) Murray of Waukesha; 6 grandchildren: Linda (Kenneth) Halverson, Michael (Heather) Zavagnin, Anne Zavagnin, John Zavagnin all of Georgia, Christine Schladt of Lake Villa, IL, and Michael (Jennifer) Murray of Madison; 2 great-granddaughters, Nicole and Kirstin Schladt; 2 sisters, Patricia Tanguay of W. Melbourne, FL, and Suzanne O'Donnell of Janesville; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Murray of Janesville; 2 brothers, Steven Romanzak of Ft. Meade, FL, and Frank Romanzak of Janesville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Murray; her mother and father; 2 sisters, Theresa and Margaret; a brother, Felix; and a brother-in-law, George.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sat., June 8, 2002, in the SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME with Fr. Michael Doro officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.

Fredrick Williams
Born in Wisconsin on Jan. 21, 1935
Died Dec. 14, 2003 and resided in Janesville, WI.

Janesville - Fredrick “Fritz” Williams, age 68, of Janesville passed away on Dec. 14, 2003 at Alden Meadows Care Center.
Fred was born on Jan 21, 1935 to Harry and Mary Williams.
Fred was married to Frieda Lowery on March 26, 1953 and they resided in Janesville most of their lives.
He and his wife both worked at McArthurs Mink Ranch from which he retired in 1983.
Fred is survived by 14 children: Fred (Cindy) Williams of Milton, Terry Williams of Beloit, Bruce (Carry) Williams of Missouri, Cindy Williams of Oregon, Charles (Tracey) Williams of Janesville, Danny (Karma) Williams of Reedsburg, Allen (Debbie) Williams of Marinette, WI, Steven (Lisa ) Williams of Evansville, Gene (Carol) Williams of Janesville, Billy (Penny) Williams of North Carolina, Clayton Williams of Arkansas, Eddie (Shana) Williams of North Carolina, Pat Williams of Janesville and Marsha (Bill) Stienke of Janesville. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Frieda on Sept. 21, 2001.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at the SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Our special thanks to the Alden Meadows Care Center for all the wonderful care during his stay there.

Kwasinski, Joan Mary
Nov. 2, 1940 - Nov. 1, 2001
ELKHORN - Joan Mary Kwasinski, age 60, a longtime resident of the Lakeland Health Care Center, died Thurs., Nov. 1, 2001 at the Lakeland Medical Center, Elkhorn. Joan was born Nov. 2, 1940 in Chicago, the daughter of Raymond and Henrietta Kwasinski. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhorn.
She is survived by a mother, Henrietta; a brother, William Kwasinski, both of Elkhorn.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Mon., Nov. 5, 2001 at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Elkhorn, with the Rev. Michael Benham officiating. Visitation will be just prior to the service. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet cemetery, Elkhorn. Memorials may be made to the Lakeland Health Care center, Elkhorn. The Betts Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Lecher, Jearaldin "Jeri" G.
Aug. 25, 1923 - Oct. 27, 2001
JANESVILLE - Jearaldin "Jeri" G. Lecher, age 78, of 1720 W. Court St., passed away Sat., Oct. 27, 2001, at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Fort Pierre, SD, on Aug. 25, 1923, the daughter of Bernard and Louise (Huebner) Pike and was a 1941 graduate of Pierre High School. Jearaldin married Marvin F. Lecher on Oct. 11, 1947, in Duluth, MN. She and Marv moved to Janesville in 1975 from Coronado, CA, and founded Frostie Freeze on West Court St.
She is survived by her loving husband, Marv; 4 children: Vicki Jae (Frank) Rauscher of Plano, TX, Londa (Col. Don) Gemeinhardt of Stuttgart, Germany, Danny and Kip Lecher both of Janesville; 5 grandchildren: Chad, Garit and Brianne Gemeinhardt, Blake and Grant Rauscher; a brother, Donald Pike of Bradenton, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Ryan Gemeinhardt; and by a brother, Russell Pike.
Private graveside services will be held on Wed., Oct 31, 2001, in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Primghar, IA. Friends may call at the SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Kane, Susan Kay
November 4, 1946 - June 6, 2002
JANESVILLE - Susan Kay Kane, age 55, died Thurs., June 6, 2002, at her home in Janesville. Susan was born Nov. 4, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Walter and Shirley M. (Badger) Bartz. She graduated from Edgerton High School. Susan owned and operated Abacus Tax Service for nearly 10 years. She was an avid bowler and golfer and a member of the National Association of Tax Preparers and its Rock County chapter.
Susan is survived by her father, Walter Bartz; 2 brothers, Robert Bartz and Jeffrey (Sherry) Bartz, all of Edgerton; and a sister, Diana (David) Chatellier of Spring Lake, NC. Susan was a wonderful aunt to her nephew, Joshua Bartz, and her 2 nieces, Jessica Bartz and Rachel Bartz. She is also survived by her godchild, Meghan Alt; a very special friend, Judy Alt; and a special cousin, Bonnie Francis, who helped care for her during her illness. Susan's mother preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1995.
A Celebration of Life for Susan will be held at 11 a.m. Mon., June 10, 2002, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, with her cousin, John Francis, officiating. Entombment will be in Milton Lawns Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 1 until 4 p.m. at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME. Memorials may be given to Rock County Humane Society, 222 S. Leverence, Edward Albert
May 20, 1907 - Oct. 29, 2001
JANESVILLE - Edward Albert Leverence, age 94, formerly of 1418 Clover Lane, died Monday Oct. 29, 2001 at Pioneer Court in Beloit, WI. He was born May 20, 1907 in Nekoosa, WI. the son of William and Mary (Schiefelbein) Leverence. He married Emily Havlicek on September 20, 1930 in Janesville, she passed away Aug. 8, 1997. Edward owned and operated Leverence Fuel and Coal Co., retiring in 1971. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by several cousins and was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at the SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, with Fr. Del Klink officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Manz, Clarence Raymond
Feb. 8, 1923 - Nov. 1, 2001
JANESVILLE - Clarence Raymond Manz, age 78, of 1121 Putnam Ave., loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died Thurs., Nov. 1, 2001, at Encore Senior Villa. He was born in Janesville on Feb. 8, 1923, the son of Arthur and Elizabeth (Meyer) Manz and has been a Janesville area resident for most of his life. Ray served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theater. He married Gloria J. Kelm on June 21, 1947, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Janesville. Ray was employed as a Foreman at Parker Pen until his retirement in the early 1980's. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, VFW Post 1621 and Loyal Order of Moose #197.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria; 4 children: Sandra (Terry) Butler of Ft. Wayne, IN, Dennis Manz, Debra Manz and Susan (Tom) Pohlman all of Janesville; 7 grandchildren: Todd, Brett, Kari (Robert), Jessica, Nicholas, Ashley and Courtney; a great granddaughter, Victoria Roemke; and a sister, Esther Mercier of Clearwater, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers: Charlie, Mel, Wayne, Robert, Garth, Percy, James and Earl; and by 2 sisters, Iva and Margaret.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Mon., Nov. 5, 2001, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dale R. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.

Maxon, Dorothy M.
June 2, 1912 - Nov. 5, 2001
JANESVILLE - Dorothy M. Maxon, age 89, of 502 St. Lawrence Ave., died Mon., Nov. 5, 2001, at St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home. She was born in Stevens Point, WI, on June 2, 1912, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Schaffner) Breitenstein. Dorothy was employed as a Registered Nurse in Chicago and has been a Janesville resident for the past 25 years.
She is survived by her brother, Jack (Madge) Breitenstein of Redlands, CA; several nieces; nephews; great nieces and great nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wed., Nov. 7, 2001, in St. Elizabeth's Chapel with Fr. Tim Gericke officiating. Burial will be in St. Steven's cemetery, Stevens Point. Friends may call at the chapel at St. Elizabeth's on Wednesday from 9:45 a.m. until the hour of Mass. Memorials in Dorothy's name can be made to St. Elizabeth's Home. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.

Hull, Philip Clifton
October 22, 1914 - June 2, 2002
JANESVILLE - Philip Clifton Hull, age 87, of 3101 Crystal Springs Rd., died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at home. He was born on Oct. 22, 1914, in Milton, the son of Frank and Kathryn (Theile) Hull. He married Mable Astin in Milton Junction on Aug. 23, 1936. She preceded him in death on April 24, 1997.
Philip is survived by his 4 daughters: Rosetta (Joseph) Hodge and Phylis (Wayne) Olson, both of Janesville, Shirley Riley of West Des Moines, IA, and Nancy (Eric Dahl) Gile of Panama City, FL; and a son, Terry (Jane) Hull of New Hope, PA. Affectionately known as "Grumps", he will be dearly missed by his 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren (with 3 additional due this summer); and a great-great-grandson. Phil is further survived by 2 sisters, Kathryn "Tut" Hull and Marian "Liz" Kumlein, both of Janesville; 2 brothers, Richard "Dicky" (Betty) of Milton and Warren "Scuz" (Ellen) of St. Cloud, MN; and a sister-in-law, Betty (Ralph) Cooper of Janesville. Mr. Hull was preceded in death by his wife, Mable; parents; and 2 brothers, Donald "Joe" and Eugene "Beans" Hull.
Phil had a long association with The Parker Pen Company in various domestic and international positions including residence in Canada, Argentina and Brazil, retiring in 1979 as Senior Corporate Vice President. Community and governmental activities included Janesville City Planning Commission, Vice President, Milton College Board of Trustees, President, Janesville Chamber of Commerce, Chairman Governor's Commission on Physical Fitness, National Planning Association Board Member, Vice President Sinnissippi Council Boy Scouts of America, Red Cross Director, Chairman of Board of Trustees of the United Church of Marco Island, Florida, and head of several Janesville area fund raising projects including Community Chest, Mercy Hospital and Sinnissippi Council Camp Indian Trails. His hobbies included hunting, competitive pistol shooting where he attained international rank, fishing, painting and cooking. Phil was an avid Wisconsin Badger Fan and enjoyed attending a variety of sporting events. He also enjoyed roaming North America with his wife and family in his motor home.
A private committal service to which all family members are invited will be held at 10 a.m. on Wed., June 5, 2002, at MILTON LAWNS MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, Janesville. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wed., June 5, 2002 at ROCK PRAIRIE UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 8625 County Highway A, with Rev. Dr. Roy Godwin officiating. The family will meet friends in the Fellowship Hall where lunch will be served following the service. Memorials may be made to Rock Prairie United Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Sinnissippi Council, Boy Scouts of America, or HospiceCare, Inc. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
