GARRISON, MN - Edward Joseph Mead, Jr., age 85, died Sat., Oct. 20, 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Mead (James T.) Halverson of Alexandria, VA; a brother, Jerry Mead of Baltimore, MD; 2 sisters, Kitty Dougherty and Mary Tess Wright, both of Baltimore, MD; 2 grandchildren, Andrea Mead Halverson, J. Thomas (Jennifer R.) Halverson, and Rosine Naumann of Garrison, MN.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Fri., Oct. 26, 2001, at OUR LADY OF FATIMA CATHOLIC CHURCH in Garrison. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements were made by the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby, MN.
Mixon, Helen M.
Sept. 6, 1941 - Nov. 3, 2001
BELOIT - Helen M. Mixon, age 60, of 2512 Tucker Dr., went to join her family and friends with the Lord on Sat., Nov. 3, 2001. Helen was born Sept. 6, 1941, to Clifford E. and Eunice Coutts Baptist. She moved with her family to Mission, KS and grew up there. The family returned to Beloit in 1958, and Helen graduated from Beloit Memorial High School with the class of 1959. Helen married
Ronald Mixon Sr. on Oct. 13, 1973, and together they raised seven children and were foster parents to 34 babies awaiting adoption. Helen was formerly employed by Warner Electric and later by Caravilla Nursing Home, retiring in 1980. While a member of First Baptist Church, she served as president of American Baptist Women and was a member of the B.Y.K.O.T.A. class. She later joined Central Christian Church and was a member of the Thursday Travelers T.L.C. group, which was very supportive during her battle with cancer. She was a Beloit Memorial Hospital volunteer and an avid camper, a proud grandmother, and loved a good rummage sale.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald; her 8 children: Michael (Robin) Fiedler of Antioch, IL, Ronald Jr. (Tamara) Mixon, Scott Fiedler, Kim (Brad) Dazey, all of Beloit, Thomas Mixon of LaCrosse, WI, Martha (William) Orndorff, Peggy (Patrick) Kinkade of Beloit, and Steven (Camie) Fiedler of Crystal Lake, IL; 23 grandchildren; a sister, Elayne (Glen) Steindorf of Kokomo, IN; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Kathy (Steve) Mentele of Janesville. She was predeceased by her parents; grandchildren, Rachel Orndorff and Ryan Fiedler; 3 sisters: Barbara Schaeffer, Margaret Nider, and Sue Penechar; and 3 infant children.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., Nov. 7, at CENTRAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH, Beloit, with Pastor David Meding officiating. Burial will be in East lawn cemetery. Samual Berg on Aug. 27, 1949 in Marinette, WI. She was a volunteer for the Assoc. for the Prevention of Family Violence and was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Delavan.
She is survived by her husband, Sam of Delavan; a daughter, Karen (Paul) Barber of Delavan; a son, Steven Berg of Milwaukee; 5 grandchildren: Eric and Anna Barber, Joseph, Andrew and Laura Berg; a sister, Mary (Richard) Enstrom of Delavan; and 2 brothers, Richard (Rita) and Thomas (Betty), both of Marinette, WI; also nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri., May 31, 2002, at ST. ANDREW'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Delavan, with Fr. Scott Leannah officiating. Elaine O'Connor in 1945 in Kansas. He was employed as an office supply salesman for Boise Casacade in Chicago before his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, also serving as military photographer.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Delavan; a daughter, Nancy (Keith) Shallcross of Delavan; a son, Ronald (Pam) Moore of New Port Richey, FL; 5 grandchildren: Allan (Jennifer) Moore of New Port Richey, Kris (Allison) Moore of Lutz, FL, Jason (Teresa) Shallcross of Delavan, Danielle Shallcross of Hawaii, and Marc Shallcross of Delavan; a great-grandson, Tyler Moore of New Port Richey; also nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry; and a sister, June.

Elmer L. Rasmussen on Sept. 13, 1945, in Edgerton and together they farmed in the Juda area for over 20 years. She was a member of Trinity Free Lutheran Church and its quilters club. She also enjoyed crocheting, cooking, cake decorating, and country music.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer; 5 children: Barbara Rasmussen of South Beloit, IL, Jean (Gary) Steinmetz of Janesville, Marilyn Thomann of Monroe, Nancy (Gary) Burrington of Brodhead, and Leslie (Deanne) Rasmussen of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers: Henry, James, Clifford, Harris, and Herbert Wandell; and 6 sisters: Ethel Dewey, Dorothy Dabson, Hazel Luethy, Mildred Schmidt, Beryl Stapleton, and Dora Byrd.

Waunita Carr on Dec. 10, 1949, in Sharon. Don co-owned and operated Tiffany Feed and Supply in Tiffany, WI with his brother, Richardt, then later owned and operated Don Nass Trucking, Inc. in Clinton, WI for 25 years before retiring to Mesa, AZ in 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Waunita; 2 sons, Larry (Jean) Nass of Phoenix, AZ, and Scott (Catherine) Nass of Clinton, WI; 6 grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Edith) Nass of Mesa, AZ; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Richardt Nass and Martin Nass; and a sister, Marie Peterson.

JANESVILLE - Lydia Marion Gable, age 82, of 1259 E. Milwaukee St., died Thurs., Dec. 18, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Brooklyn, WI on June 27, 1921, the daughter of Paul M. and Esther O. (Jorgenson) Janes. She graduated from Evansville High School in 1938 and had been a Janesville resident since 1967 moving from Stoughton. She married
Louis H. Gable on June 16, 1945 at Cargill United Methodist Church and had worked for Parker Pen before her marriage. He preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1977. Lydia enjoyed going to rummage sales, crossword puzzles and she enjoyed being with her family on the holidays especially Christmas.
She is survived by her 5 children: Gary Gable of Janesville, Connie (Andy) Virnig of Milton, Steven (Cheri) Gable, Kathy (Jim) Milbrandt and Gerald Gable all of Janesville; 9 grandchildren: Louis, Julie, Aaron, Sarah, Emily, Lee, Anita, James and Rachel; 5 great grandchildren: Taylor, Bailey, Logan, Anthony and Lily; a brother, Wilmer (Sadie) Janes of Stoughton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Marvin Janes.

JANESVILLE - Leonard W. Tauschek, age 86, of 2508 E. Racine St., died Fri., Jan. 23, 2004 at Cedar Crest Health Care Center. He was born in Marshfield, WI on Feb. 6, 1917, the son of John and Theresa (Bauer) Tauschek. He graduated from Marshfield High School and served in the US Army during the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatre. Leonard had been a Janesville resident for over 30 years. He married
Anne Grealy on Feb. 15, 1945 in Kidderminster, England. She preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 2002. He was employed by Fairbanks Morse as a supervisor, retiring in 1982.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Neil Anderson of Oshkosh; 4 sisters-in-law: Genevieve Tauschek of Beloit, Ann Tauschek, Lucille Tauschek and Loretta Tauschek all of Marshfield; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, John who was killed in Vietnam; 6 brothers: Harold, Ray, Norman, Clem, Ralph “Bud” and Donald; and 2 sisters, Geraldine and Betty.

Survivors include his mother, Phyllis (John) Westman of Janesville; his father, Bruce (Bonnie) Ferone of Cincinnati, OH; 2 sons, David James Ferone and Sereno Quintin Ferone, both of Beloit; a brother and sister, Matt Ferone and Marcy (Fiance Matt Lee) Ferone, both of Beloit; paternal grandparents, Betty and Bob Feldmann, and Bill and Carole Ferone, all of Cincinnati; a niece, Jenessa; a nephew, Tyler; 3 uncles: Bill (Angie) Ferone, Mike (Jane) Ferone, and Tom (Marty) Ferone; 2 aunts, Pam (Dan) Dickert and Loraine Reed; 2 stepbrothers, Jay and Tony; a stepsister, Sherrie; mother of David's children, Jessica Tracy of Beloit; and partner, Angie Dane. Ritchey, Lois Jeanette (Ware)

JANESVILLE/MILWAUKEE - Lois Jeanette Ritchey (Ware), age 75, went home to the Lord on Wed., June 5, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeanette was cared for by the loving staffs of The Huntington, HospiceCare Inc., and Haven House. She was born July 10, 1926 in Madison. She lived in Waterloo, WI, until she moved to Milwaukee as a teenager. She resided in Milwaukee until March of this year when she moved to Janesville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas J. Richey, formerly of Palmyra.
Jeanette was the loving mother of Dave (Sue Ann) Ritchey of West Bend and Annette (Nick) Bullard of Janesville. She was the proud Grandma of David (Jenny) Ritchey, Michael Ritchey, Angela Ritchey, Nicholas Bullard and Stacy Bullard; and great-grandmother of Brandon Ritchey and Dakota Ritchey. She is further survived by her siblings: Virginia (Ronald) Anderson, Robert (Joyce) Ware, Gerald (Linda) Ware, and Patricia (Paul) Bernhard; 2 aunts, Norma Forsmo and Verna Groth; cousins, nieces and nephews, good friends and wonderful neighbors.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., June 8, 2002, at WISCONSIN MEMORIAL PARK, CHAPEL OF THE FLOWERS, 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI. Private entombment.
