Raymond Molid
Raymond L. Molid, 80, of Plum City, formerly of Modena, Wis., passed away Monday, July 30, 2001, at Plum City Care Center in Plum City.
He was born October 28, 1920, in Modena, to John and Lillian (Sande) Molid.
He was a graduate of Mondovi High School. Ray farmed with his father in Modena, from 1939 to 1943. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe in World War II. After the war, he returned to farming and later moved to Racine. He was employed by American Motors. He retired and returned to Modena, in 1966.
He was a member of Modena Lutheran Church.
He is survived by three brothers, Jeff Molid of Dubuque, Iowa, Lester (Glennis) Molid of Galesville, Wis., and Wilmer Molid of Ellsworth, Wis.; one sister, Lois Molid of Minneapolis, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Hazel Marten and Edna Oesau.
Services will be Thursday, August 2, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Modena Lutheran Church, rural Mondovi, Wis., with Rev. James Tallman officiating. Burial will be in Modena Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the grave by Gilmanton American Legion.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi, or on Thursday for one hour before the service at the church.
Merle Stolt
BLOOMER -- Merle Stolt, 77, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
He was born August 24, 1923, in Bloomer, to Ottmar and Agnes (Kirkman) Stolt. He married Norma Johnson June 14, 1947, in Bloomer. He worked as a farmer, landscaper, milk hauler, started Stolt Excavating and owned Stolt Septic. He was current governor of the Bloomer Moose Lodge and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed dancing (especially the polka), listening to polka music, being at the cabin, being outdoors and cutting the lawn.
He is survived by his wife, Norma of Bloomer; two sons, Dan (Cindy) and David (Shelly Leavens), all of Bloomer; one daughter, LuAnn (Dean) Oldenberg of Bloomer; one brother, Dewayne (Darlene) of Bloomer; one sister, Arlyss (Dan) Lewis of Whittier, California; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Adam and Katie Stolt, Jami Oldenberg and MeKenna Ruzic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters in infancy, Julie and Connie; two brothers, Levoyd "Red" Stolt and Gerald Eastman; and one sister, Lorraine Rasch.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jon Becker officiating. Interment will be in the Scandinavian Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to service at the church on Thursday. There will be a Moose service at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Raymond Tietz
Raymond P. Tietz, 85, of Eau Claire died with family at his side Monday, July 30, 2001, following a courageous but overwhelming battle with cancer.
Ray was born in St. Paul to William and Josephine Tietz. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was best known as "Tiger Tietz" during the more than 30 years he sold Uniroyal Tiger Paw Tires for Consumer Co-op and Eau Claire Co-op Tire Center in Eau Claire.
Ray is survived by his son, Robert; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren from his first marriage. A son, Mike (Debbie) Tietz, their children, Kristy (fiancé, Nathan Laager) and Cory, along with a daughter, Pamela Hedland and her three girls, Lisa, Carrie and Stacy (Davis), from his second marriage to Betty Ellensohn; his current wife, Arvilla (Weber) along with five stepchildren, Thomas (Diane) Menard, Delores Wickham, James (Patrica) Menard, Ronald (June) Menard and Debra (Andrew) Skelton; eleven step-grandchildren, Jenny, Joel, Laura, Jimmy Joe, Brian, Lindsay, Anthony, Andrew Jr., Jody, Mathew and Mark; one sister, Marge Ihle; one sister-in-law, Delores Tietz; and many other friends and relatives.
His former wife, Betty, two brothers, William Jr. and Albert, and a brother-in-law, Gerald Ihle, preceded Ray in death.
Ray enthusiastically enjoyed fishing and sports, leaving behind many fond memories. He bartended part time for many years at Wildwood Tavern in Eau Claire as well as others up north. He truly enjoyed people and will be missed greatly.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2001, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Link officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Arleen Albertson
GALESVILLE -- Arleen Stevens Albertson, 94, of Galesville, Wis., died Wednesday, August 29, 2001, at Marinuka Manor in Galesville.
She was born August 27, 1907, to Samuel and Thea Dina (Amundson) Stevens in Buffalo County, Wisconsin.
On September 9, 1926, she married Orvin Albertson in Winona, Minn. He died in 1989.
Arleen taught in rural schools in Bennett Valley, immediately following high school graduation at age 17. When in her mid-forties she enrolled in vocational school, learned to type and launched a successful second career as secretary, bookkeeper and assistant supervisor at Eau Claire Lutheran Nursing Home.
Her love and desire for a close knit Christian family and active involvement in church activities were her top priorities.
Survivors are a daughter, Ardelle (John) Williamson of Trempealeau, Wis.; two sons, A. Samuel (Marlys) of Naylor, Mo., and Roger (Joan) of Mathis, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at East Bennett Valley Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 6, 2001, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Tom Boyer officiating.
Memorials may be directed to the East Bennett Valley Church or ELCA Hunger Fund.
Dorothy Alexander
Dorothy M. Alexander, 76, of 4524 145th St., Chippewa Falls, died suddenly, Monday, October 1, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.
She was born April 29, 1925, in Sturgeon Bay to Elsie (Schwartz) and John Sarter. She grew up in Sturgeon Bay where she graduated from high school in 1943.
Dorothy married Charles F. Alexander on January 19, 1946, in Kewanee. They resided in Sturgeon Bay until moving to Chippewa Falls in 1950. She managed the Russell Dairy Store in Chippewa Falls and was then employed at Reiter's Steak House, The Flame, and the Hallie Town Hall.
She was a member of English Lutheran Church of Bateman.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Alexander of Chippewa Falls; four daughters and their children, Patricia (Milton) Moyer of Westville, Ind. - granddaughters, Amy and Alesha; Rebecca (Jerry) Graham - granddaughter, Melanie; Sandra (Wayne) Jensen - granddaughter, Heidi and grandson, Ryan; and Kim (Steve) Wells - granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah, all of Chippewa Falls; a son and his children, Jeffrey Alexander of Chippewa Falls - granddaughter, Taylor and grandson, Hunter; one great-grandchild, Tyler; a sister, Rose Marie (Bob) Clonts of Rome, Ga.; a brother, Herbert (Gwen) Sarter of Sturgeon Bay; two godchildren, Barb Erickson and John Sarter Jr.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Helen Sarter.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2001, at English Lutheran Church of Bateman, with the Rev. Curt Rohland officiating. Burial will follow at Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Dorothy is cherished and loved by so many for the values she held dear to her heart. Her devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild was deep, leaving them with so many wonderful loving memories. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. We love you, God bless you.

Edward Arntson
COLFAX -- Edward O. Arntson, 53, of Colfax died Sunday, September 30, 2001, at Area Nursing Home in Colfax.
Edward was born April 13, 1948, in Eau Claire to Wayne and Elizabeth (Brunner) Arntson. He grew up in Colfax and was baptized and confirmed at Colfax Lutheran Church. He was a 1966 graduate of Colfax High School. Ed received an associates degree in accounting from District One Technical Institute and worked as a city manager in city government for most of his life, many of those years where spent in Ladysmith. His passions included camping, fishing, animals, the Packers and his family. But most of all, Ed loved to play cards with anyone who would play with him. When no one was available, he would play solitaire.
Survivors include his son, Andrew (Angela) of Burlington; one daughter, Kimberly (Dean) Voller of Marengo, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jacob, Grant and Jordan; three brothers, John (Pam) of Colfax, Jerry (Betty) of East Troy and Ken of Le Center, Minn.; one sister, Jane (Keith) Hanson of Madelia, Minn.; three nieces; and three nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were today, October 2, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Colfax Lutheran Church, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends called an hour prior to services at the church.

Edward Jurgens
MONDOVI -- Edward H. Jurgens, 57, E7283 160th Ave., Mondovi, Wis., died Sunday, September 30, 2001, at his home with his wife by his side.
Edward was born March 22, 1944, in Eau Claire, to Peter and Hazel (Johnson) Jurgens. He married Mary Watkins, May 25, 1981, in Eau Claire.
He hunted and fished for many years with his family and friends. He is dearly loved and will be missed very much.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Melisa (Ross) Rongstad; very special granddaughter, Emily Grace; two sisters, Joyce Pahl and Doris (Mike) Bauer; four brothers, Bob (MaryAnn), Norm (Bev), Mike and Bill (Sharon); his "other brother", Mick (Diane) Daniels; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Jim Jurjen; and brother-in-law, John Pahl.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, October 3, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., with Rev. Edmund Klimek officiating. Inurnment will be in Town of Peru Cemetery, Meridean, Wis., at a later date.
Friends may call Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
