Sharon Allen
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Sharon D. Allen, of St. Paul, Minnesota, formerly of Eau Claire, died Saturday, December 2, 2000, at her residence.
She was born on February 2, 1947, in Centralia, Washington to John and Marion (Nauman) Allen. Sharon moved to Eau Claire with her family in 1952, and graduated from Memorial High School in 1965.
She worked several years at the Minneapolis Art Institute. In 1971, she moved to Sacramento, Calif., where she attended American River Community College. Sharon later transferred to UW-Stout where she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a pre-school teacher at Hallie Q. Brown Pre-School in the Martin Luther King Center in St. Paul, Minn., until retiring due to her health in February, 1998.
Survivors include her parents, John and Marion Allen of Eau Claire; her brother, Michael of Minneapolis, Minn.; her sister, Cynthia (Eugene) Bowe of Eau Claire; two nieces, Amanda and Alison Bowe of Eau Claire; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2001, at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, Elk Mound, with pastor Dean C. Brockmeier officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire.
Friends and relatives may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
The family requests memorials be directed to Shepherd of the Hill Church.

Hildegard Golly
Hildegard Golly, Elk Grove, California, formerly of Eau Claire, died Jan. 13, 2001.
Mrs. Golly was predeceased by her husband, Guenter. They came from Germany in 1952, and moved from Black River Falls, to establish their turkey farm in Fall Creek, in 1956.
After retiring, they lived in Eau Claire, until moving to California in 1990.
She was very active in the Newcomers Club and a long-time volunteer at a local nursing home.
She is survived by her children, Alex Golly of Florida, and Andrea Stover of California; grandchildren, Tara McFann and Evan Golly; and her nephew, Gerd Golly of Wisconsin.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 in Elk Grove, California.
James Ming
James M. Ming, 68, of 1225 Pershing St., died suddenly this past week at his home.
He was born August 29, 1932, in Eau Claire to Walter and Lilly (Hanson) Ming. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1950.
He started working at Johnson Printing in 1951, and was employed there until entering the service. Jim served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict with the Company B 84th Engineer Battalion, from December 13, 1952, until his honorable discharge on November 30, 1954. Jim returned to work at Johnson Printing where he was a faithful and dedicated employee for over 35 years, retiring as First Pressman in 1991.
Jim married Ruth Sly in Stillwater, Minnesota, in September, 1958.
One of Jim's greatest joys was his grandchildren, who loved him dearly. Jim was an avid fisherman. He was a life long resident of the Mt. Simon area and an exclusive member of the "Mt. Simon Garage Boys."
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (David) Quast of Wauwatosa, and their children, Anna and Julia; two sons, James (Mary) Ming of Eau Claire, and their children, Nicole, Natasha, Richay, Ariah, and great-grandson, Darian; and David (Elvie) Ming of Eau Claire, and their children, P.J. and Kimberly; a sister, Bonnie (Hermie) Nowak of Eau Claire; three brothers, LeRoy (Judy) Ming and Gary Ming, both of Eau Claire and Vernon (Dianne) Ming of Fall Creek; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffrey; and a sister, Virginia Ming.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2001, at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Frederick W. Theiste officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Lester Olson
MONDOVI -- Lester K. Olson, 77, of Mondovi, and formerly of Eleva, died on Monday, January 15, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
He was born on March 7, 1923, in the town of Albion, Trempealeau Co., Wis., to Harvey and Jesse (Larson) Olson.
He married Violet Iverson on Sept. 23, 1944, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden.
Lester farmed on the home farm in the town of Albion, Trempealeau Co. He also was a trucker for various trucking companies. He moved to Mondovi in 2000.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden.
He is survived by one son, Mike (Lisa) Olson of Eleva, Wis.; one daughter, Emily (Merlyn) Franson of Strum, Wis.; one son-in-law, Richard Prudlick of Fairchild, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Dawn (David) Erickson, Becky (Matthew) Johnson, Julie (Mike) Zingshiem, Jason (Michelle) Franson, Eric (Lori) Prudlick, Nikki Olson and Neil Olson (special friend, Crystal Kennelley); 12 great-grandchildren, Kacie and Zachary Erickson, Ethan, Evan and Ryan Johnson, Jenna Zingshiem, Dylan Franson, Tyler and Jacob Prudlick, Austin Baynton, Ashlynn Solie and Alec Olson; two brothers, Wallace (Lucille) Olson of Eleva, Wis., and Don (Monica) Olson of Eleva, Wis.; and two sisters, Irene Wenaas of Altoona, Wis., and Leona (Morton) Christianson of Mondovi, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Barbara Prudlick; his parents; and one sister, Winnifred Lokken.
Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden, rural Mondovi, Wis., with Rev. David Bangert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. or on Friday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Eleva. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from noon until the time of services.
Marguerite Shock
BOYD -- Marguerite M. Shock (Peggy Croasdale), 79, of rural Boyd, Wis., passed away Saturday, January 13, 2001, at the Augusta Area Nursing Home in Augusta, Wis.
She was born April 28, 1921, in Superior, Wis., to John and Grace Rapp. She worked as a cook in a nursing home and was a housewife and bartender who tended bar in Ludington, and Wilson townships for many years.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Phyllis "Sue" Fagerstrom; one brother, John; and two husbands, Mark Croasdale and Gaylend Shock.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Croasdale) and husband, Dale Jaeger of rural Boyd; and two grandsons, Kenneth A. Arneson Jr. of Oklahoma and Steven Telisczak Jr. of rural Boyd.
As per Marguerite's wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be in the spring.
The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.
Joel Wagner
MENOMONIE -- Joel P. Wagner, 25, of Menomonie, Wis., died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home.
Joel was born Nov. 15, 1979, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Gary L. and Linda (Groff) Wagner. He was raised in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1994. Joel was going to graduate Magna Cum Laude from UW-Stout in May with a degree in Marketing Education with a concentration in Business Education and minors in History Education and coaching Basketball. Joel was prepared to student teach starting Monday at Chippewa Falls High School in Marketing and Business classes. He also coached basketball for the 6th grade Menomonie All-Stars and 9th grade basketball for Eau Claire Memorial.
Joel is survived by his parents, Gary and Linda Wagner of Menomonie; one brother, Justin Wagner of Menomonie; his paternal grandmother, Carol Wagner; his maternal grandfather, Robert Groff; aunts, uncles, cousins; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jason; maternal grandmother, Daisy Groff; and paternal grandfather, Lenard Wagner.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Christian Life Ministries Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Mike Pilla and Rev. Jim Crawmer officiating. Burial will be in Ford Cemetery in the town of Menomonie.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Christian Life Ministries Church and one hour prior to the service Friday, also at the church.

Joseph Giordano
Dr. Joseph Giordano, 42, of 3618 Kingswood Court, Eau Claire, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at home.
Joseph was born on June 3, 1958, to Joseph and Catherine (Clemente) Giordano in Astoria Queens, New York. He graduated from Queens College-CUNY in 1980, with a BA in Mass Communication and received his MA in Mass Communication and Communication Theory from Fordham University in 1982. Joseph was a Teaching Associate with the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, Instructor at Rutgers - the State University of New Jersey and Adjunct Assistant Professor and Adjunct Lecturer with the City University of New York. After receiving his Ph.D. in Organizational Communication and Interpersonal Communication from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst in 1989, he moved to Eau Claire and served the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire as Associate Professor.
Dr. Giordano co-authored two textbooks and many publications. He was the author of several award winning papers which were presented at many national communication conferences. Joseph also served the UW-Eau Claire as Senator-at-Large on the University Senate, a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee for Information Technology and a member of the Communication Search and Screen Committee. He served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Organizational and Professional Communication Interest Group of the Central States Communication Association. He was an advisor to the Indian Waters Girl Scout Council, Grace Lutheran Foundation, Eau Claire Family Medicine Clinic and the Chippewa Valley Symphony.

He is survived by his partner, John W. Smestuen of Eau Claire; parents, Joseph and Catherine of Pennsylvania; brother, Frank (Diane) Giordano of Pennsylvania; nephew, Frankie; niece, Brianna; Irene Smestuen of Colfax; Marlys Muszynski of Elk Mound; special friends, Judy Sims and Eleanor Larson, both of Eau Claire; aunts, uncles, many friends; and his puppy, Simon.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, with Father Frank Corradi officiating. Visitation is Wednesday (today) from 4 to 8 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, Golf Road, 1 block East of Hwy. 93, and also ½ hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
