Wendelin Janowiak
Wendelin Janowiak, age 58, of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at St. Clare Hospital of Baraboo, Wisconsin.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Reverend Andrzej K. Panek celebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.
Wendelin was born November 5, 19 45 in Poland the son of Vincent and Joanna (Lichosyt) Janowiak. He had been a member of the Polish army. In 1970 he married Anna Ziemianczyk. After moving to the Dells area he owned and operated the Evergreen Motel in Lake Delton. Wendelin was also active in the Wisconsin Dells Polish Club.
Wendelin is survived by his wife, Anna; stepparents, Wendelin and Julia Janowiak of Worth, Illinois; a son, Mirek (Paula) Janowiak and a daughter, Dorothy (Christopher) Larson both of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; brothers, Vince (Anna) of Wisconsin Dells, Frank and Stan both of Glendale, Arizona, John (Stella) of Burbank, Illinois, Emil (Jane) of Lemont, Illinois, and Albin (Irene) of Mesa, Arizona; sisters, Mary (Adam) Sliwa of Wisconsin Dells and Helen (Bruno) Kucek of Alsip, Illinois; and grandchildren, Cameron, Kyle and Nicholas. He was preceeded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 from 4 to 8 P.M. and on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.
Therese Staniszewski
Therese Staniszewski, age 90, of Slidell, Louisiana, formerly of the Oxford/Dells area, died Monday, August 25, 2003 at her home in Slidell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, with Father Felix Oehrlein officiating. Burial will be at Davis Corners Cemetery, in Jackson Township, Wisconsin.
Therese was born May 27, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Rose (Pazynski) Klockowski. While Therese was married to her husband Peter, they ran Pete’s Country Store and Tavern, 6 miles west of Oxford, on Highway 82, for 24 years.
Therese is survived by her son, Bob (Beverly) Staniszewski of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, and by her daughter, Bonnie (Tim) Adzomoah of Slidell, Louisiana. She is also survived by 10 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Visitation will be held at Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin, on Thursday from 9:00 until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.
Stanley Ryczewicz
Stanley Ryczewicz, age 86, of Briggsville, Wisconsin, died peacefully Sunday, January 11, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville, with Father John Hedrick celebrating. Military rites will be provided by the Carl E. Grabman American Legion Post 329 of Briggsville. Cremation will follow the traditional services.
Stanley was born January 25, 19 17 in LaSalle, Illinois, the son of Bruno and Mary Ryczewicz. In December of 1945 he married Norberta Malin. He started working for Federal Die Casting in Chicago in the 1930’s and a short time later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas in the Pacific Theater, receiving 5 battle stars and was honorably discharged. He returned to Federal Die Casting, worked his way up the ranks and retired in 1978 as Vice President of Production. Following retirement, he moved to the north shore of Mason Lake, near Briggsville, where he has lived since. Stanley loved gardening, fishing, hunting and Mason Lake.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Norberta; sons, Michael of Oxford, Wisconsin, and Stanley (Elin) of Bartlett, Illinois; daughter, Barbara (Edward) Deuter of Alabama; brother, Raymond of Los Angeles, California; sister, Mary Nowik of Chicago; and grandchildren, Ciera, Caitlain, Crystil, Charles, Stephanie and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Adolph and Joseph.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Briggsville, on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.
Walter Jobe
Walter Jobe, age 85, of Endeavor, Wisconsin, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at the St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 17, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oxford, Wisconsin, with Vicar Brian Rohde celebrating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Military rites will be provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells.
Walter was born June 6, 1918 in New Richland County, Minnesota, the son of Arno and Clara (Neumann) Jobe. He married Vernelia Preble in Portsmouth, Virginia in June of 1945. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a crewman aboard the U.S.S. Honolulu. He was a farmer for many years raising hogs and growing crops. Walter was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and served as an elder and held other board positions. He was a good, hardworking and honest man and he was devoted to his family as a loving, gentle and patient father.
Walter will be missed dearly by his wife, Vernelia; sons, Austin (Mary) of Cumberland, Wisconsin, Timothy (MaryAnn) of Lebanon, Indiana, Walter R. (Linda) of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, Robert (Wendy) of Baraboo, Wisconsin and Patrick M. of Endeavor; daughters, Marlene Kimball of Wisconsin Dells, Mary Lou (Sam) Rizzotte of Springfield, Ohio, Margaret (Jerry) Nitz of Markesan, Wisconsin, Susan (Jim Kline) Martens of Adams, Wisconsin and Kathleen (Michael) Klawitter of Oxford; brothers, Harvey (Wally) of Waseca, Minnesota, Norris (Lorraine) of Morristown, Minnesota and Lester (Margie) of Rochester, Minnesota; sisters, Nora Schoenfeld of Janesville, Minnesota and Shirley (Marvin) Schwardt of Alexandria, Minnesota; 37 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence and sisters, Viola Jobe and Edna Mork.
Visitation will be held at the Oxford Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 to 8 P.M. and on Monday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.
Rose Roeling
Rose Roeling, age 80, of Mauston, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mauston, with Father Dan Kiedinger officiating. Burial will be at the Lyndon Station Village Cemetery.
Rose was born June 15, 1923 in Mauston, Wisconsin, the daughter of Peter and Wilhelmena (Kastner) Ruland. For many years she worked at the Bank of Mauston and most recently was the head bookkeeper.
Rose is survived by a son, Patrick (Sue) Roeling of Hammond, Wisconsin; daughters, Penni (John) Lyon of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and Sandi (Mike) Bauer of Hammond; a brother, Peter (Carol) Ruland of Mauston; sisters, Marge Dodge and Betty (Jim) Larson of New Lisbon, Wisconsin and Ann Sitas and Teresa Ypelaar of Mauston; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Roeling; a daughter, Patricia Neustadter; a grandson, Mathew Neustadter; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin on Friday, August 15, 2003 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the rosary recited at 7 P.M. and on Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.
Beverly Mire
Beverly Mire, age 68, of Portage, Wisconsin, died Thursday, May 20, 2004 in the comfort of her own home with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oxford Funeral Home in Oxford, with Pastor Julie Waterdu celebrating. Burial will be at the Oxford Village Cemetery.
Beverly was born March 31, 1936 in Winemac, Indiana the daughter of Michael and Florence (Vanaman) Kollaszar. In December of 1953 she married Emell Mire at the United Presbyterian Church in Buffalo Township of Marquette County, Wisconsin. She had been most recently employed by HoChunk Casino. Beverly loved her family, her job and spring flowers. She will lovingly be remembered for teaching her family the meaning of courage, dignity and perseverance and she showed others what true heroes are about.
Beverly is survived by her son, Richard Mire of Oxford; daughters, Peggy (Mark) Russell of Portage and Jeanine (Rick) Boos of Madison, Wisconsin; brothers, Michael (Janice) Kollaszar of Franklin, Wisconsin, David (Mary) Kollaszar of Missouri, Phillip (Yvonne) Kollaszar of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Kenneth (Julie) Kollaszar of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a sister, Evelyn (Ronald) Blada of Montello, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Matthew Russell and Christopher (Angela) Mire; great grandchildren, Casey J. and Cheyenne M. Mire; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a good friend, Stan Willis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Jim, Robert and Lawrence and a sister, Elizabeth Willkomm.

Thomas C. Coleman

Thomas C. Coleman, lifelong resident of Fort Winnebago township, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.Tom was born July 20, 1955 into the loving family of Tom and Florence (Crawford) Coleman. Growing up, he was a huge help working on the family farm and loved nothing more than working alongside his Dad, Mom and siblings.
He attended grade school at St. Mary’s and post graduation from Portage Sr. High, he followed in his older brother’s footsteps working for the railroad. Tom’s career as conductor spanned 40 years, starting as one of the last hires on Milwaukee Road as brakeman and retiring from Canadian Pacific Railroad in 2015. Tom established many long lasting friendships with other railroaders which he maintained after retirement.
Outside of work, Tom had several hobbies he enjoyed. He became interested in RC Aircraft and would use his brother’s air strip flying his many planes. He also enjoyed hunting on the family farm with his Dad as well as fishing at local lakes. During high school, Tom and his father restored a 1950 Ford pickup which remains in the family. Over the years, Tom acquired some vintage Corvettes as well as a couple of show trucks which he enjoyed displaying at car shows. One of his fondest memories was meeting Jay Leno a few years back at the car show held at Noah’s Ark. Jay complemented Tom on his truck and Tom got a picture of Jay and him together.
His other main hobby was Trap Shooting. He was a member of Portage Rod & Gun Club and enjoyed honing his skills as a marksman while establishing many good friendships with other enthusiasts. He was very content staying close to home but experienced traveling to Ireland in 1985 with his family celebrating his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary.
Tom is survived by his mother Florence, brother Bill (Evelyn) and sister Patricia (John Peacock). He was preceded in death by his father Thomas and infant sister Judy. He was a loving son and cherished brother. He had a quiet demeanor but would give the shirt off his back in helping any one. He really valued his friendships and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
