Anita Foss

Anita Foss, age 91, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the Wisconsin Dells Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial funeral services will be held Monday, October 20, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Reverend Craig Wolfgram officiating. According to her wishes Anita will be cremated and her cremains will be interred at Arlington Park Cemetery in Greenfield, Wisconsin.

Anita was born March 15, 1912 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Irma (Abitz) Mau. In May of 1931 she married Carl Foss in Milwaukee, where they lived for awhile before moving to Wisconsin Dells, and began farming. Later they sold their farm and moved into Wisconsin Dells, and owned and operated the Little Norway Bar until their retirement.

Anita is survived by a daughter, Joan (Skeet Stehr) Nash of Poynette, Wisconsin; a sister, Audrey O’Connor of Wisconsin Dells; grandchildren, Bill (Kim) Nash and Terri (Dru) Nash-Marchant; great-grandchildren, Justin, Erika and Tyler; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and a son, Carl, Jr.

Visitation will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Monday from 1 P.M. until the time of service at 2 P.M.

Alma Peterson

Alma Peterson, age 95, of Lake Hill, Woodstock Township, New York, formerly of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at her residence where she has resided for the past 30 years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Newport Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, of which she had been a member, with Reverend William Grimm celebrating. Burial will be at Newport Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Alma was born July 21, 1908 on the family homestead in the upper settlement of Newport Township, Columbia County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Peter Anton and Kirstin Helene (Larsen) Peterson. She attended Badger Valley School and worked in Stower’s Restaurant in the Dells as well as help on the family farm. She later was a care-giver, taking care of several families including Anna Wimann and Edna Crothers in the Dells; Emma Champney and Will Haeberlein in Briggsville, Wisconsin, as well as several family members.

Alma was the last surviving grandchild of immigrant settlers of Newport Township, Peder Anderson Stomme and Halvor Larsen Loite. She is survived by nephews, Kenneth W. Peterson of Irvington, Alabama and Peter A. Peterson of Portage, Wisconsin ; nieces, Helen J. Hoege of Wisconsin Dells and Margaret Aikins of Madison, Wisconsin and many great nieces and nephews including Kenneth R. and Carl A. Peterson, her care-givers. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl A., H. Paulman and Alfred S. Peterson; a sister, Hilda Louise Peterson and a nephew, Harold R. Peterson.

Visitation will be held at Newport Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Newport Lutheran Church.

Anthony Beinarauskas

Anthony Beinarauskas, age 50, of rural Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at his residence.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1st, 2004 at 11:30 A.M. at the St. Casimir Lithuanian Cemetery, 1015th and Kostner Street, Chicago, Illinois.

Anthony was born August 26, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Antanas and Aldona (Uselis) Beinarauskas. He attended Bethlehem Center High School in Fredericktown, Pennsylvania, and was a member of the Valentine Chicago Boy’s Club. He was a professional carpenter and mason by trade specializing in finish carpentry and was a member of the carpenters union. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing because he so much loved the outdoors. “Tony” was a loving and generous father, son and brother. His unique sense of humor, sly smile and loving, generous heart will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Anthony is survived by a son, Brian (Sandy) Beinarauskas of North Carolina; a daughter, Jennifer Beinarauskas of Pennsylvania; mother, Aldona (Vito) Pajaujis of Wisconsin Dells; brothers, Joseph (Monica) Beinarauskas of Worth, Illinois and Stanley (Karen) Beinarauskas of Chicago Ridge, Illinois; three sisters, Veronica Sheahan of Orland Hills, Illinois, Linda Pajaujis of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Tina (Jeff) Henrikson of Gilbert, Illinois, 2 grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Anthony "Tony" Jonikas

Anthony “Tony” Jonikas, age 87, of Evergreen Park, Illinois, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at the Wisconsin Dells Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin, with Reverend David Bowman officiating. Burial will be at the Plainville Cemetery of rural Wisconsin Dells.

Anthony was born June 4, 1915 in Leechburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Anthony and Magdalena (Wiach) Jonikas and grew up there. In 1934 he moved to the Dells and in 1943 he married Kathryn Procknow in Wisconsin Dells. They moved to Chicago, in 1944 where Tony was an electrician for many years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and he was a Harley Davidson enthusiast.

Tony is survived by his wife, Kathryn; a brother, Albert (Pearl) Jonikas of Burr Ridge, Illinois; a special cousin, Stephanie Simonellis; brothers-in-law, Robert (Donna) Procknow of Wisconsin Dells, and William (Margaret) Procknow of Madison, Wisconsin a sister-in-law, Shirley Procknow of Oxford, Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Antoinette and Connie.

Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Charles Dumke

Charles Dumke, age 78, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Monday, March 17, 2003 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21, 2003, at 11:00 A.M. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Reverend Craig Wolfgram officiating. Charles will be cremated following the traditional services and will be interred at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Charles was born October 18, 1924 in Fort Winnebago, Wisconsin, the son of August and Matilda (Paske) Dumke. On April 10, 1971 he was married to Betty Lou Genger in West Allis, Wisconsin. For 20 years Charles operated the Butler Tree Service and he worked for the Cheney Company near Milwaukee assembling in-home elevators. After living for 17 years in Sussex, Wisconsin they moved to the Dells area in 1988.

Charles is survived by his wife, Betty Lou; sons, Robert (Joyce) Dumke and Michael (Debbie) Dumke both of Baraboo, Wisconsin; daughters, Patricia (Dennis) Bauer of Muskego, Wisconsin, Judith (Jeff) Werner of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Donna (Tomas) Llinas of Corsicana, Texas and Nancy Leas of Greenfield, Wisconsin; a sister, Elaine Ramsey of Baraboo; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, on Thursday, March 20, 2003 from 4 to 8 P.M. and on Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Catherine "Kay" Palmer

Catherine “Kay” Palmer, age 89, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, formerly of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the Wisconsin Dells Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 17, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father Ronald Zinkle, S.J. officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.

Kay was born November 22, 1913 in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, the daughter of Anthony and Rose (Hudzinski) Szymanowski. Kay was married to Jack Magera and he preceded her in death. They had owned and operated restaurants in the Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, and Richmond, Illinois area. She later married Ray Palmer. Together they operated a group home for disabled veteran’s called the Black Forest Inn near Lyndon Station from 1968 to 1980. He preceded her in death in 1986. She had been a member of the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 Auxiliary of Wisconsin Dells. Kay will long be remembered as an independent and strong-willed person.

Kay is survived by a daughter, Mary Jean (Wayne) Ulrich of Lake Delton, Wisconsin; a brother, Paul (Gloria) Szymanowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a sister, Agnes Tatera of Wisconsin Dells; grandchildren, Peggy, Michelle, Christine and Douglas; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son, Gerald; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

Denise Miner-Wood

Denise Miner-Wood, age 40, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Thursday, November 20, 2003 at University Hospital of Madison, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 23, 2003 at 12:00 Noon at N1037 Johnson Street of rural Wisconsin Dells, with Richard Mann and Reverend Marilyn Merrill officiating. Burial will be at the Indian Baptist Church Cemetery.

Denise was born January 18, 1963 in Portage, Wisconsin the daughter of Orlen and Georgia (Miner) Wood.

Denise is survived by her sons, Myles Ermenc of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Lorenzo Miner, Keynan Miner and Malik Brooks all of Arizona; daughters, Sonia and Regina Garcia and LaTasha Ermenc all of Milwaukee; her father, Orlen of Milwaukee; a brother, Nicholas Wood of Milwaukee; sisters, Le Ann Westbrook of Wisconsin Dells and Shelley (Davis) Williams of Arizona and grandchildren, Trayvion and Anastasia. She was preceded in death by her mother; grandparents, Orin Wood and George and Rose Miner and a nephew, Joshua Westbrook.

Visitation will be held at N1037 Johnson Street in Indian Heights of Wisconsin Dells, on Sunday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at Noon.
