Dennis Pawlowski

Dennis Pawlowski, age 60, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Friday, April 4, 2003 at his residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Father Felix Oehrlein officiating. Following the traditional services Dennis will be cremated.

Dennis was born June 8, 1942 and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Bernard and Mary (Zaborowski) Pawlowski. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965, lived in Arizona, and Nevada, and later moved to the Dells area in 1989. In 1990 he met Rina Woudenberg and in 1992 started a sewing business, Denrina’s Tailoring. Dennis worked as a cook at Rivers Edge and Perkins in the Dells. He was an avid poker player and he especially loved family get-togethers and travel.

Dennis is survived by his love, Catharina; stepsons, Co (Eileen) Oprins of Sycamore, Illinois, Jay (Cindy) Oprins of Luxemburg, Mike (Sue) Oprins of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Donald (Heather) Nichols of Madison, Wisconsin; stepdaughters, Julia (Brian) McAlpin of Portage, Wisconsin and Gina (Matt) Nichols-Ersland of Wyocena, Wisconsin; a brother, Jim Pawlowski; a sister, Lois Grace of Reedsburg, Wisconsin and 16 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin, on Monday, April 7, 2003 from 5 to 8 P.M. with a vigil service at 7:30 P.M. and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

DeWayne Schweinler

SGM. U.S. Army Ret., DeWayne Schweinler, age 78, of Mauston, Wisconsin, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2002 in his home surrounded by his loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial funeral services will be held Monday, October 21, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wilton Faith Congregational Church, 502 Enderby Street in Wilton, Wisconsin, with Reverend Carl Rogers officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. According to his wishes, DeWayne has been cremated.

DeWayne was born July 26, 1924 in Neillsville, Wisconsin, the son of Dr. Fredrick and Lillian (Creviere) Schweinler. DeWayne loved his country and spent 26 years in the U.S. Army, serving during World War 2 and overseas in Germany. Among his duties he assisted in the holocaust cleanup. He retired from the Army National Guard as Sergeant Major in 1984. Many knew DeWayne as a greeter in the Mauston K-Mart after his retirement. He touched many lives. In 1948, he married Alice (Pat) Zerbel in Neillsville, spending 54 years together. He loved his wife more than anything in this world and she is the reason that he fought the battle against his disease for as long as he did. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be truly missed. “We Love You PaPa!”

DeWayne is survived by his loving wife, Alice (Pat Debbie (Robert) Anderson of Wilton, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also many nieces, nephews and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kwong, Dr. Kim, and Dr. Larry Boehme of Gundersen Clinic – LaCrosse and also Hospice Touch of Tomah, Wisconsin for all there help and support.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Faith Congregational Church of Wilton or to the Hospice Touch of Tomah, Wisconsin.

Demetrius Lone Tree

Demetrius Aaron Lone Tree, age 45, of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, and El Paso, Texas, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Meriter Park Hospital of Madison, Wisconsin.

Graveside memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells, with Father Felix Oehrlein officiating.

“Gone Fishing”.

Our Heavenly Father and all His Saints and Angels called Dee to a safer home in the early morning hours of May 14, 2002. His loving wife of 20 years, Mary Clealon Crowson, was by his side as were her daughters, Celeste of Farmington, New Mexico and Catherine of Aurora, Colorado. He will be missed as well by Jessica, Julie and Lilli, their children and spouses. Demetrius was very recently preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Ann and is survived by a number of siblings, nieces and nephews, Aunts and Uncles.

A special thank you to Darrin Snake and Gary Picha.

Contributions in Dee’s memory would be appreciated given to the Humane Society in Baraboo, Wisconsin, or American Cancer Society.

May the Perpetual Light shine upon him.

Arlene Jantz

Arlene Jantz, age 87, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at the St. Clare Hospital of Baraboo, Wisconsin.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Reverend Craig Wolfgram officiating. Arlene’s cremains will be interred at Newport Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Arlene was born April 7, 1915 in Newport Township, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Anne (Stomner) Lueck and has been a lifelong resident of the Dells area. In 1952, she married LeRoy Jantz. In 1953, he preceded her in death. Arlene was a store manager and operated Arlene’s Teens and Queens Clothing Store in the Dells for 29 years and was proclaimed as the biggest little store on Broadway.

Arlene is survived by nephews, Kenneth (Miriam) Lueck, William Lueck, and Steven (Patricia) Lueck all of Wisconsin Dells, John Lueck of Jackson, Wisconsin and Dennis (Mary) Lueck of Waunakee; nieces, Christie Lueck of Poynette, Wisconsin, Mary (Charles) Novy of Reedsburg, Wisconsin and Barbara Carlson and Lisa (William) Kurz both of Wisconsin Dells. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Kenneth Lueck and a sister, Karol Alice Lueck.

Visitation will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday. April 5, 2003 from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Dolores Sigmund

Dolores Sigmund, age 78, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 6, 2002.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Briggsville, Wisconsin with Father John Hedrick and Father Felix Oehrlein co-officiating. According to her wishes, Dolores was cremated.

Dolores was born June 24, 1924 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, the daughter of Anton and Catherine (Bodewin) Gengler and the youngest of seven children. Dolores married her childhood sweetheart, Edward A. Sigmund in South Mills, North Carolina, on June 11, 1943. This marriage was blessed with five sons and two daughters. She was active in her church, the Friends of the Library, and with her husband helped to transport people to the train station or bus depot when they stayed at Mary House while visiting with relatives who were imprisoned.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Edward; sons, Edward R. (Barbara) of Wisconsin Dells, Jeffrey W. (JoEllen) of Evansville, Wisconsin and Troy D. (Jill Whaples) of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; daughters, Mary (David) Kopas of Moyie Springs, Idaho and Christine (Roger) Kutz of Whitewater, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Marge Sigmund of Cinnaminson, New Jersey; brothers, Anthony (Theresa) Gengler and Matthew (Lorraine) Gengler both of Medford, Wisconsin, and Eugene Gengler of West Bend, Wisconsin; sisters, Catherine Brown of Crofton, Maryland, Theresa Zeman of Baraboo, Wisconsin and Isabel Sigmund of Medford; 22 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sons, Lawrence and Gregory.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Briggsville on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. Memorials of remembrance may be given to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, St. Mary Help of Christians or to the charity of choice.

The Picha Funeral Home and Crematory of Lake Delton, Wisconsin assisted the family with arrangements.

Bryce Knuth

Bryce Knuth, age 42, of Rio, Wisconsin, formerly of Wisconsin Dells, died Sunday, January 19, 2003 at his residence with family and friends by his side following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven Keller officiating. Following the traditional services Bryce will be cremated.

Bryce was born March 14, 1960 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the son of Louis and Shirley (Landt) Knuth. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1979. In October of 1981, he married Sally Schneider. Bryce loved motorcycles, dogs and had a keen interest in buffaloes.

Bryce is survived by his wife, Sally; parents, Louis and Shirley Knuth of Wisconsin Dells; sisters, Shari (John) Seymour of Jefferson, Wisconsin and Mary (Ken) Knapp of Madison, Wisconsin; an aunt, Esther (Walt) Nimmow of Madison and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 from 5 to 9 P.M. and on Thursday at the United Presbyterian Church from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Columbia County Humane Society or to Cancer Research.

Brenda Sobojinski

Brenda K. Sobojinski, age 41, of Superior, Wisconsin, formerly of Wisconsin Dells, passed away at home with her family at her side on September 5, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Brenda was born on October 23, 1960 to Leroy and Sandy Anderson of Wisconsin Dells. She graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1978. On September 24, 1983 she married John Sobojinski in Wisconsin Dells. Through the years Brenda worked as a bookkeeper and most recently she managed the former Lakehead Pipeline Credit Union. Nothing was more important to Brenda than her family. Her pride and joy were her husband and her two beautiful children. She enjoyed life with a spirit of adventure and her quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all that knew her.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband, John; a daughter Cassie and a son John Michael; her mother Sandy Anderson, Wisconsin Dells; and brothers, Bret (Linda) Anderson, Wisconsin Dells and Bart (Crystal) Anderson, LaValle, Wisconsin. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Brenda was preceded in death by her father Leroy Anderson and a brother Brad.

Memorial funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 12, 2002 at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton, Wisconsin with Reverend Craig Wolfgram officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to: Department of Development, Mayo Foundation, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.

Note that the donation is in memory of Brenda Sobojinski and is to be used for breast cancer research.
