"Born of pioneer stock who settled the great American plains States, Floyd O. Lochner was born on 8 May 1912 in Oklahoma, and grew up in a tightly knit home. He obtained a BS degree in 1937, and an MEd degree in 1961 from the University of Oklahoma, and an EdD degree in 1969 from the Ambassador College, and whilst at college was national interscholastic one mile champion in 1932, national intercollegiate two mile champion in 1937, holder of the American and world record in 2 mile steeple chase, 1936 and 1937, National AAU 3,000 metre champion, 1937, and American Track and Field Team Japanese exhibition, 1937. During his college years he also married and has two children. A term of office both as Assistant State Director of the Works Project Administration, State of Oklahoma, 1939-42, and as Trainer of military recruits, 1942-46, provided a rich, pragmatic background on which a long career in fostering optimum training conditions for children and youth was built. Expressions of this interest included his Masters and Doctorate degrees, and subsequent direct service and personal involvement with developing children in a private school system, Imperial Schools. Vision and imaginative leadership expanded this modern system based on family-home-church unity in enhancing the child’s development, to three campuses in California, Texas, and Bricketwood, Hertfordshire, UK, respectively. Serving as Family Consultant, School Superintendent and College Professor, a generation of young people stand as evidence for the efficacy of the best in educational opportunity of the era, 1954-69, and as Founder of Youth Opportunities United, International, Scotland, South Africa, Australia, Canada and the USA, the combination of rigorous discipline, active sports programming and adventuring in the wilds of adjacent lake and river country, he made sure youths were introduced to a wholesome way of life sharply contrasted to the drug and counterculture movements of their peers, 1960’s. He also undertook lecture tours and wrote “Human Potential Magazine”, and widely honoured by National Honorary Society of Secondary Schools 1968, he is listed in “Who’s Who Among Child Development Professionals”, 1977, and “Community Leaders & Noteworthy Americans”, 1978, and he is still sought out and available to the sons and daughters whose lives he touched as they strive to implement his teachings in the growth and development of their own children. He produced his achievements with few physical resources but a great faith in the Creator who spells out true principles for bringing young people to abundant living through the Christian Way. Dr Lochner is a member of the Association of Childhood Education International, National Association for Better Broadcasting, American Association of University Professors, American Camping Association, National Recreation and Parks Association, and Alpha Alpha Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi."
