Alivia Quinn
Alivia Agnes Quinn, born on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, died in the arms of her parents, on Thursday, July 24, 2008. Sweet Alivia was called into God’s host of little angels from Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Never was a child loved so much in so short a time.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Father Arnold Reuter celebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.
Alivia was born July 23, 2008 in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth (Fox) Quinn.
Alivia is survived by her parents; maternal grandparents, Ed and Colleen Fox of Wisconsin Dells; paternal grandparents, James (Renee Gilbertsen) Quinn of Madison and Vicki Davis of Arkdale, Wisconsin; and aunts and uncles, Jon (Jill) Fox of New Lenox, Illinois, Katie (James) Tanton of Summerville, South Carolina, Michael (Kari) Quinn of Carver, Minnesota, Amanda Voorhies of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Marilyn (Wayne) Riemer of Montello, Wisconsin and Kelly Stoll of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an uncle, Mark Quinn.
Dorothy Ryan
Dorothy Ryan, age 82, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, died Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo.
Memorial funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin, with Father Monahan officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:30 p.m.
Dorothy was born August 30, 1925 in Rutland, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Tina (DeFriese) Ufkes. In November of 1943, she married William Ryan in Chicago, Illinois. Dorothy loved her family. She enjoyed bowling, giving to the Humane Society and was an avid gardener.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Robert) Nagel of Baraboo; sons, William (Laurie) Ryan of Reedsburg, Wisconsin and James (Cindy) Ryan of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a sister, Jeanette Stapleton of Westchester, Illinois; her grandchildren, Justin and Josh Nagel and Jason, Adam and Michael Ryan; as well as her faithful companion for the past 12 years, her dog “Buddy”. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Sauk County Humane Society.
Anastasia Ehmen
Anastasia Ehmen, newborn daughter of Sarah Ehmen and Jeff Dale, passed away shortly after birth on Monday, July 28, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 4, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Monsignor Felix Oehrlein celebrating. Burial will be at the Cattaraugus Cemetery in Waupun, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Monday from Noon until the time of service at 1 P.M.
Anastasia will be missed dearly by her mother, Sarah (Chris Svehlek) Ehmen of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and father, Jeff Dale of Madison; maternal grandfather, Judson Ehmen of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; paternal grandparents, Bryce Dale and Julie McAllister both of Madison; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Sandra Lipps.
Gerldine Henriksen
Geraldine Henriksen, age 75, of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, with Pastor David Allen officiating. Burial will be at the Lake Delton Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
Geraldine was born September 18, 1932 in Coon Valley, Wisconsin, the daughter of Julian and Gladys (Kielley) Strangstalien.
Geraldine is survived by a brother, Larry (Donna) Strangstalien of Madison, Wisconsin; sisters, Avie Kissack of Lake Delton and Shirley (Jack) Nelson of Wisconsin Dells; a special friend, Kay Butler; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Henthorn, Richard Gomoll and Chester Henriksen; and a brother, Harlan Strangstalien.
Roland "Rollie" Weber
Roland “Rollie” Weber, age 92, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died peacefully Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at St. Clare Hospital, Baraboo, Wisconsin, with his loving family by his side.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 25, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Reverend Steven Keller officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells, with military rites provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin, on Sunday, August 24, 2008 from 3 to 5 P.M. and on Monday at the United Presbyterian Church from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.
Rollie was born October 10, 1915 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, the third child of Roy and Sadie (Strieff) Weber. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1934, a four sport letterman, and later attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison. In 1937 he went by train with a load of horses to Middleton, Delaware. There, through a friend, he met his wife to be, Ruth Urian, and were married on June 1, 1940. From this union came two wonderful daughters. On December 23, 1943, Rollie was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps and later honorably discharged on February 14, 1946 after serving in the South Pacific and China. He received the bronze star while in Okinawa. Rollie’s heart was always in Wisconsin so in 1953 he bought a farm near Big Spring. Five years later he moved his family to Dubuque, Iowa to work for his brother, Harry, in the home improvement business. Here they stayed for the next 15 years before returning to Wisconsin Dells, where he served as a part-time custodian at the Lake Delton Elementary school for nine years when poor health caused him to retire in 2005 at the age of ninety. Rollie was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and former member of the Adams County Board.
Rollie is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Barbara (Edwin) Blinks of Dubuque, Iowa and Holly Weber of Wisconsin Dells; sisters, Dorothy (Robert) Wick of Wisconsin Dells and Bernice Mola of Highland, Indiana; brothers, John (Phyllis) Weber and Kenneth “Duke” Weber both of Wisconsin Dells, James (Lucille) Weber of Lake Delton and Harold (Jocille) Weber of Dubuque and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Chester Weber and sister, Madeline Weber.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions given to a charity of choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Jarvis and the staff at the Dells Clinic and St. Clare Hospital.
Maria Weinman Fenney
Maria Weinman-Feeney, age 70, of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home with her loving family by her side on Monday, August 25, 2008 following a long battle with breast cancer.
Maria was born December 6, 1937 in Bruhl, West Germany, the daughter of Herbert and Anna (Rohr) Jeckel. In 1985 she married Stanley Fenney in Las Vegas, Nevada. They moved from Madison to the Lake Delton area 3 years ago. She loved to bowl and play bingo.
Marie is survived by her husband, Stanley; sons, William Weinman of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and Robert (Carol) Weinman of Madison, Wisconsin; step-daughters, Staci (Jerry) Gentz of Cleveland, Ohio and Joellyn (Jeff) Murphy of Madison; brothers, Heinz, Kurt and Freddie Jeckel all of West Germany; 3 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren and her life-long friend, Irma Rupp of Madison. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Weinman and her brothers, Albert and Werner.
The family would like to thank Marie’s oncologist, Dr. David Hei, his nursing assistant Karen and staff, United Home Health Hospice staff for all their help and a special thanks to Vicki Murdock.
Betty Athey
Betty Athey, age 81, Lake Delton, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at her residence.
Memorial funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bible Baptist Church in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, with Pastor Earon Fowler officiating. Visitation will be held at Bible Baptist Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00.
Betty was born December 17, 1926 in Merrimac, Wisconsin, the daughter of Roy and Sherley (Dennis) Mueller. She was a dedicated member of the Keystone Baptist Church and her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16. Among Betty’s hobbies were bowling, crocheting, golfing, puzzles and she loved cooking.
Betty is survived by her son, Richard Ness of Joplin, MO; daughters Pam Marie Ness of Brookfield, WI and Corinne Marie (Jay) Olsen of Lake Delton, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents, William and Prue Jenkins; husbands, Gordon Ness and Harold Athey and her brothers, Dean, Robert and Del.
